Okay, so, er... This is vurrry embarassing for me to ask, but it's really been bugging me. I asked my mom a bunch of times (she knows the difference) but she just doesn't teach me for some reason D:
How do I tell the difference between Japanese, Chinese, Koreans, etc.? I'm talking about the people. All mom said was the eyes and cheekbones, but heck, I don't know!! ;~; I just... can't tell the difference, and it's terrible...
EDIT: ... DON'T EAT ME PLEASE!!! crying

normally seeing the difference comes naturally when you're used to it! i have to say.. the best way is the haircut! joking of course, but this is a bit true. the skin tone changes too, and the shape of the eyes is a bit different in the various regions of eastern asia... i don't know if i can really help you sweatdrop

how can you have that trouble? i guess it is because i am nativ, but this is not hard. but, if you ever are in trouble it is eyes and cheek bone. and it is natural! i think we japanese are whiter(i dont know for sure) eyes are bigger and, i dont know, it is like ichigobababay says, it is natural thing for people of eastern asia.

Now that I have seen someone who is Chinese, a Japanese, and two Koreans (from Lost!! XD) It's not really that hard for me to tell the difference. I can tell by they're skin tone.

Well, I always hear for what they speak. I can't EXACTLY tell which is which, but I definately know Japanese, so it's just if it's Korean or Chinese. I kinda know what Korean sounds like, since I have Korean friends... mom who talks, soooooo yeah. After a while, you'll be able to know the difference soon enough if you practice!!

I beg to differ. I am full Japanese and I have a darker skin than most Native Japanese people year-round. There are a lot of Japanese people who have dark skin, as well as the one's who have really pale skin. I do not think skin tone is completely indictative of which part of Asia someone is from. I can usually only tell the difference between Japanese and Koreans, and its really hard to explain how. . . they have very distinct facial features.

I have to agree...I think it just takes time. I know that for awhile I had that problem....still do actually....but i t's getting better...^-^....But I spent last year hanging out with my Japanese friends (exchange students) at school....and one of my teachers/bosses at school is Chinese......gradually I just started to notice difference (some I can't even explain)...maybe in the nose or the cheekbones ..... but somehow you pick it up ^-^ I know my best Japanese friend thinks it's funny that we can't tell the difference....><....I still have trouble telling koreans....but even there I'm doing better ^-^...it helps to be around them a lot.

I wish there were Japanese exchange students at my school... There's this girl from China though!... But... She doesn't talk. At ALL. It's... strange o_o; I guess you're right. I should try taking notes!.. But no, that would be kinda creepy... xD

Its how white people(or any people of similar skin tone, or heritage, for that matter) are able to tell who's from what region, or country. Just spend some time with each, and you'll start to pick up quickly. Besides, I bet a lot of Asians think all the white (or black, or whatever ethinicity you happen to fall under) people kinda look like each other, too. Oh, and just because I feel like taking a stab at it, I'll say the order is Korean, Japanese, and Chinese
