Any electric violinists? I myself wish to buy one. I'm saving up my money to go to AUS...which probably won't happen so I'll use the money to buy an electric.

I would love to own an electric. I'm kind of confused about what are some good models/brands though. What kind are you going for?

Yamaha, I think. They seem to have a pretty good outfit. After I decide whether or not I'm going to go on my dream vacation I'm going to look around and find out what the best options are.

Electric violin? If I had money, I'd go and buy one now. Definately going to need one for college (hey, it's only three years away...) since the time I feel most "inspired" to play is like 2 AM, and you can hear people like five rooms down in dorms. The whole floor would murder me if I didn't. (In case you're wondering, I went to a music camp that was at a college, that's how I know.)

Ditto. I understand that the benifits of being able to control the sound are really nice, but I think that the amount of care and love and natural beauty that goes into a violin can't be transferred into a machine. I understand, and have seen, elegant electric violins, but to me, when you plug something in and mass produce it, it ceases being an instrument, and becomes a machine.
(And to me they just don't sound as good, but I've never heard a high quality one.)
Anyway, that's my 2 cents... please, no one get mad, that's just my own opinion.

My electric will never replace my real violin. It'd be awesome to be able to play...well...non accoustic stuff! I think my friends might let me be in their band. When they invite me I get to refuse...because they suck!

I would absolutely LOVE to have one. It'd be awesome for like rock bands and such <3. And to practice. I really hate playing in front of family (well in front of anyone, I'm just too shy), so since you can plug in headphones with the electric...tada! Problem fixed smile
But I would never ever replace it with my original darling biggrin That's just super silly.

Yeah, hehe, my acoustic would never be replaced. heart I'd get an electric to rock out violin-style. xd TarienRose Yamaha, I think. They seem to have a pretty good outfit. That's what I heard from most people--that Yamaha was the way to go.

I have a Fender i got off my friend, for it's condition, it's excellent. I'm sure if I had've bought a new one it would be better.

I'm looking into electric so I can use headphones. However, my little acoustic is irreplaceable. I love it so much. There's just something about it's elegance.

I think I'd be agreeing with most people if I say that electric violins are great for silent practicing and rocking but the acoustic ones are better for loving.

I totally agree, but I really love to play on the electrics at school. i half own one because i bought half of it so i could play it where i go to school. Mine is a red Yamaha, and i absoloutly love it. just remember to carry bateries with you!
