UNDER CONSTRUCTION redemption. noun. 1. the act, process, or an instance of redeeming.
redeem. transitive verb. 1. to get back or win 2. to free from what distresses or harms: as (a): to free from captivity by payment of ransom (b): to extricate from or help to overcome something detrimental (c):to release from blame or debt (d):to free from the consequences of sin
~Merriam-Webster
It doesn’t really matter how you define the word; you want it regardless because everything went so wrong so fast that your life went from good to worst. Maybe you lost the trust of the only person in the world that ever mattered to you. It could be that you were exiled for betraying your brethren. You might have even sat back in horror as everyone that meant everything to you died a cold, vicious, unnatural death. Even worse, maybe you were the one that killed them. Either way, the thought haunts you and you just want to run away from it all.
You can’t run though so you try to hide, but that does no better because your mind is plagued with the disease of sin and guilt that feast on your never ending pain until you are little more than a walking corpse. Before you realize it your heart and mind have been seized by the sickness. All you want now is the cure to this ungodly infection; no cost is too great to end this malady.
The serum though is not easy to obtain. In fact only the most desperate ever dare to pursue it. This antidote though – this holy elixir as it were – becomes an obsessive drive, dropping you right into the middle of an age old path to salvation – tainted with blood, tears, and anguish. Lined with thorns and covered in dirt, clouded with fog and saturated in filth, the only thing that pushes you forward is that selfish desire; the inescapable compulsive need to make things right. Each step will bring you that much closer to it. Redemption is near.

Somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, between the coasts of Japan and California, rests a private island somewhere on the latitudinal line of twenty two degrees north. It is a tropical island full of lush born to the activities of at least one long since dormant volcano which still stands to the north. The mountain stands only 2.5 kilometers above ground level, the peak having caved in during its last eruption, leaving it with an open horseshoe crater about 700 meters wide and a kilometer deep that faces to the south. Inside this basin is a pool of fresh water supplied by a water tunnel on the northwest side beneath the surface, purified by natural filters below sea level. This lake is only ever 100 meters deep as any excess spills instantly over the southern lip, falling down the face of the mountain until it reaches flatter ground at the base at which point it veers off to the left and travels southeast to empty out back into the ocean. The daily rains cause a regular flooding, but river banks have long since been cut to contain the waters and keep the vegetation from drowning.
Opposite this mountain to the south is a strip of sandy beach that spans the entire coast. Violent storms can send sands further into the mainland, but only trace amounts would be found at this distance. Usually though, the waters that wash ashore are warm and generally gentle, strengthening at night and during rainstorms, but rarely as strong as American east coast beaches and therefore only the finest grains of sand can be carried in. The western end of the beach is interrupted by a long, thin strip of land that curves back to the east, successfully blocking the flow of water and collecting sand until the current is able to move on unbarred.
Within the bay is a harbor, the only means of commercial entrance to the island as of now. Only one ship is usually ever docked, a carrier that receives aircraft. Two private helicopters are on board, one serving mainly as a back up or spare parts.
The rest of the island is forested, with large trees towering high above the ground, but dwarfed nonetheless by the mountain backdrop. The woodlands are split in two by the river bank which cuts through it to reach the southeast coast. The further away from the river and the ocean, the denser the forest as the trees aren't commonly drowned out further inland.
Mainly birds and insects exist on the island, accompanied by wild boars, reptiles, serpents, small primates, and rodents. Wild tropical fruits and nuts feed the creatures, except the serpents, reptiles, and some forms of birds. Though the island sits a top a relatively shallow but wide continental shelf, fish do dwell nearby, but their numbers do grow once the shelf ends.

As cliche a name as it might be, Vengeance is the only technological facility on the Island. It has, along with its many provisions, a supporting staff to tend to most, if not all, of the needs of the residents and visitors. The large, three-story building, was built along the southern edge of the mountain, west of the river, facing immediately to the east. A simple, but elegant bridge has been constructed across the river to grant access to anyone unable or unwilling to swim, fly, or use other unconventional means of conveyance. To the South, the forest is cut off at least fifteen yards from the exterior of the building, with a full, healthy lawn of green grass serving as a buffer. From that limit onward however, the trees are undisturbed and grow as they might. Immediately to the North rests the mountain, the vegetation unaltered save to produce what necessary space was needed to construct the building.

 I. Of course you must obey the Gaia TOS
II. This is a roleplay thread. Though OOC is permitted I would appreciate it if you made some attempts to RP while here.
III. Expanding on the last rule, all forms of roleplaying can be used, but there is strictly no cybering in this thread. Period!
IV. As mentioned before, this is a roleplaying thread. No spamming, begging, bumping, or advertising in my thread. I will hate you forever (j/k but you will be blacklisted).
V. I want all posts to be literate in this thread. Correct grammar, correct spelling, and proper punctuation are all necessary. If you can't do this, I won't allow you to post here anymore. I am willing to forgive overlooked errors as I make them here and there as well, but a consistent literate problem will not be tolerated for long.
VI. No excessive quoting. It's unnecessary almost all the time. If you must quote, keep it limited to two or less per post.
VII. Do not stretch my pages with oversized images or extended posts. Just don't.
VIII. Killing is not allowed in this thread unless previously agreed on between the assailant and the victim.
IX. Godmodding is strictly forbidden in this thread. A list of various forms of godmodding is available on the main page.
X. The island is a battlefield. You can fight anywhere from the tropical forest to the ocean. However, use common sense. If your character cannot walk on water or breathe under it, then don't fight in the ocean.
XI. Do not destroy the island. If you do, you're blacklisted. Plain and simple as that. I expect there to be some damage, but anything permanently taking out a chunk of land is forbidden so don't do it, even by accident.
XII. This is a tropical climate. Therefore do not mention anything in your posts about it being dramatically cold, snow falling, or ice on the ground. There will be lots of rain, lots of humidity, and lots of heat, little else.
XIII. No n00bs are allowed here. If you find yourself unwilling or unable to follow these rules, then you are a n00b.
XIV. If these rules are broken, you are subject to penalty. Depending on the severity of the infringement, you may automatically be black listed. I will try and be fair and warn you at least once, but this is not an obligation.
XV. This is just a personal annoyance to me, but I don't want all seeing, all knowing characters in my thread. What I mean is I don't want a character who is so powerful that he can't be crept up on. If a character can develop super sensory abilities, then we can also improve on stealth tactics. So if a character just pops seemingly out of nowhere, respond accordingly. On that same note, there is no reason to sneak around everywhere you go. In the middle of a fight, chances are slim that you'll completely drop off of your opponent's radar, so don't pretend that you did.
XVI. This is a real time RP thread. What that means is that a new day in real life converts to a new day IC. For the sake of some fairness, anything that isn't completed by the end of an RP sequence (let's say one of the members involved gets inexplicably kicked off or Gaia goes down for the night, etc.) simply becomes implied the next day. If two people are fighting and it gets frozen for any reason, then the next day, the fight is over and the players' characters are roleplayed in the aftermath.
XVII. These rules are prone to immediate change or updates without any warning.

June 24, 2007 As of today most of the revising to the thread is done. As far as Vengeance, it'll be growing little by little from here on out as I work out all of different accommodations. Be sure to check out The Island post to be sure you're aware of your surroundings. Anything that needs clarifying should be brought up with me as soon as you can.
