Hello new members of Athear. If you have not read the home page of Athear, please allow me to introduce myself - My name is Syutaka, and I am the orginal creator of Athear. I do hope that you find your time within the guild happy and to your liking.
Allow me to explain to you what Athear is all about:
Athear is about the Academy and the lands and races surrounding it.
Xanthian's Academy: An academy that resides in a medieval type time zone. Here you will find things like magic, swords, dragons and what-not. Depending on what you like, you could become a brave adventurer, a witty student, or a wise teacher.
As you will see within this guild, a lot of roleplaying is conducted. Honestly, I want to keep it that way. The more roleplaying that is done, the more fun we can have. You will see a lot of storylines within the academy, and some will have their own storylines.
Please read the Rules and Regulations before proceeding to begin your adventure here in Athear's Realm.

We are very pleased to have you with us. Below you will find a short paragraph which tells you the basics about the guild. The second post contains a few notes on where to go or what you can do within the guild, while the third post is a simple introduction to roleplay, for those of you new to it.
Athears Realm is a literate and semi-literate roleplay guild. It has lots of areas in which you can roleplay - a medieval academy, and the various lands and empires surrounding it. I teach in the academy, and if you wish to expand your knowledge or skills in roleplay and language itself then please drop by and join the guild. The guild accepts anyone, and we are pleased to welcome you into our ranks.
Our leader, Syutaka, is very kind and understanding, but do not cross him. The BlackHand Lores are essentially the council here, they vote on applications for teaching or positions within their ranks. If you can't decide where to go, visit the realm and set yourself a scene. Here you can get a feel for your character and what you want from the guild. The main forum is for OOC (out of character) and you can post just about anything there, but remember to keep it PG-13.

Main Guild Rules and Regulations
Just as with everywhere else in this world, here you are given a set of rules to abide by. I expect you to abide by them without question. These rules will help maintain the peace, and minimise confusion within the guild.
- All Gaia ToS apply within this guild.
No sexual roleplay, statements or sexual bashing will be permitted here.
Blackhand Lores are Council Members, and their word must be followed - if they see something that is not right they will warn you and inform me of your actions. I will personally attend to all matters brought before me.
Note: If you feel that you have been mistreated by a Blackhand Lore contact me with a copy of the situation so that I can deal with it appropriately.
There will be absolutely no bragging, egotistical behaviour, bashing, or god-modding. I do not tolerate it. Please consider your actions before you make a statement.
Note: Any of these behaviours will result in termination from the guild.
Once you're invited to the guild you will be on a two week probation period. If you are active or constructive you will earn the right to stay. However, if you do not post that much, you will be considered inactive and you will be hence forth banned from the guild.
Third Person - Present Tense! Roleplay is an unfolding story - thus, it should be present tense as it is happening as you type. Present tense makes it much easier for your character to think about something past, or imagine something future.
One Paragraph Minimum. This guild is a place to roleplay and if you are less than literate, to learn. As such, we expect you to work to standard, or not work at all. We expect one paragraph per post minimum! This paragraph should be about five well-developed, well-thought out sentences. There is always something to write about - don't rush or force yourself! Let the words flow smoothly. If writing five sentences is too hard, this isn't the place for you.
Correct Spelling and Grammar Only! We all have bad days where our fingers seem sure they want to speak gobble-de-gook, but there is always time to review a post. Check everything before you submit, even use a spell-checker if you have to! Even if you spot errors after submitting, there's always an 'edit' button, you know.
Pick your race wisely - for once you done so, it will be the race that you will forever reside in. This will prevent any confusion later, for anyone trying to intergrate or mainstream a story into the unknown race that you truly desire.
A person that has two characters can have two different races. They must both be active - be sure you want that type of luxury. However, if a war breaks out, one of the characters must be rendered inactive, so we can prevent double-crossing. Do not try to double-cross - we will find out. If you have been caught double crossing, you may lose one or both of your characters.
Those are the rules that you'll have to abide by. They are very simple, and easy to obey. At the very least I expect you to handle things with maturity, whether you're a kid or not. You're here to learn or to simply roleplay.
- 1st Offence: You will be warned by me or a member of the Black Hand Lore.
2nd Offence: You will be warned and fined 75 gold.
3rd Offence: You will be suspended for a total of 3 days and, depending on your case, you may be fined.
4th Offence: You will be suspened for 7 days.
5th Offence: You will be banned from the guild.

A Few Suggestions for New Members.
If you want to chat, and get to know your fellow guildmembers, visit the Chat Thread.
If you want to chat to other peoples characters in a relaxed roleplay setting, visit the Troll's Jockstrap.
If you think you have what it takes to become a BlackHand Lore then PM Syutaka requesting an application form. If you think you want to be a Teacher, the application form can be found here. Fill it out and return it! You will be judged independantly by the council and they will decide whether you deserve to be invited into the council.
If you are stuck for a character, visit the Realm and set yourself a scene - it's a whole world, after all! Go on, get a feel for your character.
If you are a graphics wiz, show us your work! There's a thread dedicated to graphics in the main forum, but you can make your own thread if you prefer.

Quick Guide to Roleplaying Here

Please note the following points;
The entire post is in present tense. You are roleplaying, and therefore the events you describe are current. Use the correct tense at all times. Past tense is for things your character is remembering, flashbacks and such. Future for ideas and if your character is telling another what she thinks will happen.
There are no marks to designate it a roleplay post, such as *post* or -post-. These are not required in the roleplay forums, as you are not supposed to be OOC, so it is OOC that must be shown with special marks such as (ooc) or [ooc]. However there is no rule against this, it is purely personal preference.
There are speech marks around the speech. If your character is saying something, put it in speech marks. Otherwise it appears to be a thought or just looks messy. "speech" represents your character saying something. 'speech' is used within "speech" to represent the fact that your character is quoting another character's speech. If you wish to show thought-speech or telepathic communications, a few suggested symbols are
