Welcome to Athear's Realm!


User ImageAthear's Realm: A land of magic, of five races held together in a tenuous Alliance against the gathering darkness. At the center of the Alliance is Xanthian's Academy - a place for people from every race to come and study on equal terms, a focal point for the Alliance, a refuge against the oncoming storms.

Before the Academy, the races were divided into two factions: on the one side the beastial races - dragon kind and giant kind - held an uneasy peace in favour of warring against the other side, the savage races - human kind and the elves - and all the while two more races tried in vain to remain neutral. The Grand Masters tried to work primarily with the bestial races, and the Dwarves with the savage races, as go-betweens and peacemakers.

Syutaka Itsuki built the Academy as the focal point for the new Alliance, and the Dragons retired from our world, believing it to be beyond their aid. Some say that the Dragons and Grand Masters taught Syutaka things that no other mortal has known, and that they have set him the task of being our Guardian. Whether or not this is true remains a matter of speculation... Perhaps you should ask him.

If you walk due north of the town of Anemore, located along the southern side of the Mana Valley, you will pass a rickety, warped tavern named the Troll's Jockstrap. Pass this (or drop in for a drink, but be careful: the peanut bowl bites!) and cross the green marble bridge across the Mana River. Before you the ground begins to slope up on the other side of the Mana Valley - follow the well-worn path up the valley and then up the hill - Academy Hill - and once at the top, enter the School Courtyard and ask a student where the Headmaster is.

He might invite you to join his staff, his attendees, witness a duel in the arena, perform a mission to strengthen the alliance, or just invite you to go for a drink in the Troll's Jockstrap (or perhaps a more savoury inn further into Anemore.)

To gain access into this realm you simply have to be able to roleplay. Whilst this guild is primarily for T1 roleplaying (literate, one paragraph minimum per post roleplay) we will accept those who are willing to learn and expand their skills. Requirements are very simple.
Third Person - Present Tense!
Roleplay is an unfolding story - thus, it should be present tense as it is happening as you type. Present tense makes it much easier for your character to think about something past, or imagine something future.
 One Paragraph Minimum.
This guild is a place to roleplay and if you are less than literate, to learn. As such, we expect you to work to standard, or not work at all. We expect one paragraph per post minimum! This paragraph should be about five well-developed, well-thought out sentences. There is always something to write about - don't rush or force yourself! Let the words flow smoothly. If writing five sentences is too hard, this isn't the place for you.
 Correct Spelling and Grammar Only!
We all have bad days where our fingers seem sure they want to speak gobble-de-gook, but there is always time to review a post. Check everything before you submit, even use a spell-checker if you have to! Even if you spot errors after submitting, there's that persistant 'edit' button, you know. (Please don't feel inhibited by this if you feel you aren't up to it - join anyway, and take a few language classes: We will accept those who actually try to be literate, too.)

There are three ways to join Athear's Realm. Yup, three! Here they are, though you will probably already know two of them.
Get invited!
If you've a past history of being a cool person, a good roleplayer, or just a generally literate person we think will enjoy it here, you might just get an invite!
 Submit a roleplaying sample! It should have no OOC text, no information about yourself, and it should not just describe your character. Be sure to review it before submitting to catch any mistakes and try your damndest to impress us with it. Give us your best so we know what you're capable of! Because of the character limit on the join form, we encourage you to request to join with a note as to which BlackHand Lore you PMd your full sample to.
 Get a Patron! If you are interested in the guild but cannot afford to join, think your post history or past transgressions will play against you, or are worried you just aren't up to standard, why not PM one of our members and request that they act as your Patron? You will have to get to know them well and get along with them, as your Patron will pay your fee, and answer for any of your misbehaviour.

Our members are very friendly and open to newbies, so don't hesitate to say hello!
