Heh, wanna know something interesting about the Pilot of the Elsa?
Turns out, He's Gay.
Seriously, true story. I know he tried to hit on Shion in Xenosaga 1, but that was probably to hide his real interests, which is obviously Hammer.
And you ask "What!? No way!! You lie!!!"
Heh, want proof? Go to the Durandal's park area in Xenosaga 2, and talk to all the characters with Shion as your party leader. One of them will mention being mad at tony. Talk to her again, to see why...

Ok, sorry but you have your story screwed up. That girl on the Durandal in the park is his girlfriend. Tony, who got an offer to be pilot on the Elsa, was given an oppurtunity to show off his skills on a ship. He told his girl that "My heart lies somewhere else" and she took it the wrong way. She thinks that he likes chaos or Hammer but he doesn't, he was talking about the SHIP. Well, I learned that from a friend. I hope that sets your data straight.

Since information from the friend of a friend is ALWAYS reliable, but, regardless, I have seen the comment about Tony being gay from that girl and I will be sure to be on the look out to find proof for what you said as well. Because, you know, I don't like to spout stuff I don't know for sure.

*Sigh* So, in the end, Tony isn't gay? Pity, I thought Xenosaga II might break all kinds of social ground by having a legitimately gay character.
Actually... I believe Shadow Hearts 2 has one as well, but I haven't played that game myself, so I'm not sure sweatdrop

I did that but I had no idea that it was Hammer. I thought she was lying or something eek . EDIT: Sorry, just saw the post from ~Shion U~. At least I was right the first time I did that sweatdrop . Also, what she says to all your characters changes as the storyline proceeds. I think she's partly paranoid and jilted, and clearly seeing Tony with everyone (at one point she thinks Jr is with Tony too), but you never know where there might be a sliver of truth under all that.
In the end, I think it's just safe to put under personal interpretation. blaugh

At the end of the game, if you talk to her with KOS-MOS, she'll tell you that Tony left her for another man, and that he sent her a letter that said "I feel like I'm truly alive." XD

If we're to nitpick, we really don't know what Tony was talking about, since the game never specifies. All we have to go on is what that particular npc says, and she thinks he's hooking up with nearly every guy on the Elsa. ^^; I have all respect for Twinkbear (writer of that particular FAQ), but I also know he tends to mix in personal interpretation with his facts. There was a problem with that among several gamefaqs users when that fanmade database was published.

Hee, I just think it is one of those little things that are just a fun fact to latch onto. Heck, in the end it could be something that the translators just added to be funny! I don't know if we'll ever know for sure! And, yeah... if he said he left for the "Elsa" or a ship, he would use a feminine pronoun, no? They always do when refering to her. Tony does, at least whee

ok, i just looked at the game in the Japanese V. for info on this, and she says the thired time you talk to her with shion "my boyfreind left me for another guy!" if you talk to her three times with Ziggy she says "my boyfreind fell in love with a new male on the Elsa" and the only other ref i have found to tony being gay was from tony himself, if you find him during the lockdown of the Durandel (or how ever you spell it) he says something about Ziggy having a nice body, so i think its safe to say he is gay in the japanese games

In Xenosaga 1, if you talk to some MALE guy in teh Durandal's game area, with Jr. as your leader, He will apologize to Jr. for not returning his "feelings" and apologizes for not swinging that way.
So, it might be some joke for the game designers.
