I was wondering Japanese names and there meanings.

Now, as an example, mine. I beleive it to be Fire's ball(comet/shooting star) and Slope of a River or somethign to that extent. Could someone sum it up?

Yeah, but I don't know, Hinotama isn't actually a name, is it? It's actually hi no tama, like the yugioh card... Though that meant "soul of fire," not "comet of fire."

My name has a meaning too:

Hoshino = of the stars (a surname)
Akira = bright (like the noun, akari)

Though, there are many meanings for Akira because there are many kanji. The kanji I use is 明.

techincally hoshino written 星野 means star field, but it is a synonym and a pun we like to include in animes (think sailor moon usagi, her hair, her dislike of carrots, her like for bunny and how she often uses bunny design, luna's computer pass word is "the bunnny punding mochi on the moon and.....her last name is tsukino which is pun for rabbit on moon[that pound mochi])

Ahh, that makes sense. >.< I am so embarrassed! That's even the kanji I use for Hoshino, and I do know what the "no" means, but for some reason I never put two and two together... *bangs head against the wall* Ahh, there's so much to learn!

Never trust anime. *nodnod*

The whole name of this character (avatar) is actually Hyuuga Himawari ('Hyuuga' taken from original characters in Naruto). "日向" 'hyuuga' can actually be read as "ひなた" ('hinata') or 'sunshine/sunny place'. "ヒマワリ" ("ひまわり") or 'himawari' means 'sunflower' so, seeing it fully...

"日向ヒマワリ" can be read as "sunshine sunflower"? eek

Seigetsu Shimoyo

Mine is

Seigetsu (last name): [Kanji] 霽月 [Hiragana] せいげつ
Shimoyo (first name): [Kanji] 霜夜 [Hiragana] しもよ

I'm told 霽月 means "Moon shining in a rain cleansed sky" and 霜夜 means "Frosty night".

Is that correct? question

I can't even write my name in Japanese characters the way it actually is crying .

My English name is Jaime. I have to write it zeimi. Not to mention my last name is German....and German words do not write well in Japanese....

I think I'll change my name. I'll call myself Angorian Longshanks. But that doesn't solve my problem... gonk
