As you all may or may not know, I hope to one day become a game designer. I have a few ideas for games, but this is the only one that feels even remotely developed to me. So, would y'all mind taking a look and givng me some feedback?

The plot:
The year is 2037. After the "Great Cataclysm"(a complete, sudden melting of the North Pole) five years prior, the world's amount of habitable land has dropped to one-third of what it was. So, naturally, alliances were formed, two massive groups of countries emerged, and war was waged.

As an ace general for either the UWA (United Western Alliance; Consists of the United States of America, Canada, Europe, Australia, and Japan*) or the TAC (Tropica**-Asian Coalition; consists of All of Asia, the Middle-East***, South America, and Africa), you must fight numerous battles against the other side for what's left of the Earth. You have the technology. You have the power. But do you have what it takes?

*By the year 2016, Japan was so Westernized that it began identifying as a Western power, not an Eastern one.
**Tropica is an alliance between (and, for all intents and purposes, a combination of) South America and Africa.
***They joined the TAC because they despise Western civilization.

Okay, onto the gameplay:
It would be a futuristic military turn-based strategy game that let you command tanks, mechs (both flying and on the ground), helicopters, recon drones, and other military vehicles. Before every battle, you would have a set amount of money that fluctuated depending on the battle to spend on units, so you'd have to choose your units carefully. There would be a variety of warzones, although it would mainly be in urban areas. All of the environments would be fully destructible. You'd have a certain amount of points to use each turn, and you'd have to keep a close watch on attributes such as resources, morale, and public opinion of what you're doing.

Sound pretty generic? Yeah, I thought so. THIS is the main innovation of the game. It wouldn't be grid-based; there would be a full 360-degree range of motion, and flying units would have a Z-axis (allowing for vertical movement). Movement would be entirely interactive--you wouldn't simply choose your destination and watch the AI autopilot the unit there. There would also be no selecting targets and letting the game do the rest; all of the aiming of weapons would be manually adusted, right up to the firing of the weapon itself.

So, erm, basically, it's a cross between Advance Wars and Worms.

I currently call it Fullmetal Warzone: Warfare Advanced.

Hm. Sounds like a real hoot, Edge. And I'm not the kind of guy who's into strategy games, usually.

i was about to say, this is just like a suped-up version of advanced wars until i heard the non-grid-based combat...it sounds good, but not my type of game.
