well they say that masturbation is fed by lust and lust is a sin as revealed by Jesus who said that even if you lust after a person who is not your spouse then you have sinned.
but theres different ideas on what a sin is and stuff.

So, if one lusts after one who does not exist, it is still a sin? Take hentai, for example; I find FAR too much of the stuff when I'm googling, and there's only one a few base reasons as to its production.

I did a study on it with some collegues of mine (refered to as my "yos") and we came to the conclusion that it is a sin through and through. Same with Hentai. Though it does not exist per say, it is lustfulness and should be avoided. I'm saying this all from a very personal standpoint, as an 18 year old who has, is and probably will continue to struggle with this subject. I recomend you read Every Young Man's Battle by Stephen Arterburn. Make it a study with some of your christian "yos". Im 100% positive you are NOT the only one stuggling with this. If you dont feel comfortable discussing this with every one else, PM me! Im always willing to try and help you.
I'll be praying for you!

Well I believe it's not wrong, because it's the safest way to relieve your hormones. Those who masturbate are still normal people. They're not lesser people because of it. It's a lot better than just throwing away your virginity. I mean cuz God designed us, he gave us the hormones we have, he gaves us sex drives, so I think its perfectly normal to get into random "hot" moods.
*shrugs* Maybe I'm wrong.

Well, that is the opinion of a lot of people, even Bible scholars... I see it as wrong because it is accompanied by lust. Lust is a sin and "releaving" sexual pressure doesn't releave it at all... When I think back on it, masturbation leads to more masturbation which leads to fantasies and pornography, two wrong things. It was Jesus who said that "If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out..." I think he was refering to things that cause sin in your life and ask any guy and if he's honest he'll tell you, it causes us to sin. I advise you pluck it out.
This task is NOT meant for you to do on your own. God will give power and wisdom to you if you ask for it. Fellowshipping with other Christians is something I ask you to seriously consider.

Definitely. we weren't meant to deal with the ordeals in life on our own. "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing." John 15:5 Thats why church and fellowship are important pieces of the christian life. There is also something I have heard of... people say they have 'accountability partners', like fellow christians who mentor them and help them out with issues. I thin that is a good idea...

Having accountability partners is REALLY nice. We, as a small group of friends were our accountability partners. It is always good to have someone praying for you and to have a brother or sister to pray for, takes the focus off yourself.

I wrote this to a member of this guild who did ask for help on this matter. I felt as though it needed to be shared with you all. Quote: I'm impressed with your courage. I have struggled with masturbation and still do today, the thing is, it is not only a battle with the devil, but a battle with the mind and body. This makes it EXTREMELY hard to fight. I did read a book called Every Young Man's Battle and it is truely helpful. I read through it with my friends in our Small Group we formed. It is really helpful to fellowship while going through this struggle. Holding each other accountable is a great thing, as long as everyone is honest. The "M" word, or "McDonalds" as we called it in our group, is impossible to combat. But God is all powerfull and can give you strength to fight it. I would like to say this is a fool proof plan but as per the fact that I still struggle with it, nothing is full proof. WE are the ones who falter, not God. He is always there to help us if we remain in Him. Getting over the "M" word is tough but you can get through it with God's help. PRAY!!! There is so much power in prayer, ask God to give you His strength and wisdom and he will give it to you. Spend time in God's word, 1 and 2 Timothy are good, same with James and 1 and 2 Peter. They tell of how Christians should act. Spend the mornings in The Word praying before you start. Ask Him to show you what He wants you to see. I reccomend the NIV Bible because that's what I use but a Bible that you understand is key. "I spend my mornings with God before I hit the ground" -DC Talk Christ set the perfect example for the perfect life. We are called to be like Christ. But dont beat yourself up when you slip-up and fall short of that goal God has set for us, we still have our human nature and that is to disobey God. God will use those moments to strengthen you for the next temptation. Ask for forgiveness and strength when it happens and where ever you go, ask for a pure mind and eyes. It's gonna be tough but the rewards are great. PLEASE ASK ME IF YOU HAVE ANYMORE QUESTIONS!!! Don't just blow over something if you dont understand. I'm trying to live by this and I find that my days that I start with Prayer and Reading the Bible are so much better and I have more victories than losses. Christ WILL help you if you truely submit to Him and His spirit will fill you. I gotta go for now, I'll post some of this response for the others to read. I'll be praying for you.

Here's what I would say. If you could possibly do it without lusting, it would be okay. However, I find it hilarious to even think it's possible to masturbate without lusting. Therefore, I would say it is a sin. Of course, even knowing it is a sin doesn't make the struggle any easier.

i dont know wat the bible says.
but with an unedjucated opinion id say masturbation isnt wrong..because if men dont masterbate..they go crazy. if im away from my husband id rather him masterbate than go crazy..which could lead him to thoughts of other women.. i hope im making sense xp

Any where you read that isn't a religious source they will tell you that masturbation isn't wrong. It's hard to say because the bible doesn't specifically address it but there's one scripture ( where it is exactly escapes me) but it says don't waste the seed. In other words masturbating is wrong because you are spilling precious substances that are used for child rearing. But I also thought about that..suppose you don't..you know.
But another reason it's considered wrong because 1) it's selfish. self pleasure. also lustful 2) it's kinda like cheating, sexual pleasure is supposed to be reserved for marriage. It's kinda like you hear people say " What do I need a man/woman for if I can do it myself?" No matter how you think about it it's wrong.
