Hey just joined the guild. I played FFVII a while back and beat Sephiroth, got Omnislash, bred Chocobos, etc. Everything in the game pretty much except beat the weapons. I've recently pulled out FFVII again and my guys are around level 75 and most of my best materia aren't levelled up yet so I still want to max out their stats before fighting the weapons
So I'm contemplating running around the meteor (I think that's what it's called), beating guys up and levelling up. Now I'm just wondering for those that collected all the items and levelled up, where did you use the Save Crystal? Where do you think it's best to use it? That bit before the paths split off? The bit at the end where they meet? The bit where all those elixir pot things are? Anywhere else?
Not stuck mind you, just more out of interest on where people think is best

I placed mine right before you walk to your group to finish off the last battles.

in the northren crateor ther is a golden coloured room filled with water and you run around on roots of some sort, this is where you find movers, magic pots, and tonberys. Makeing this an ideal location for the save crystal as it is close to the last set of fights (leeding to jenova) but is also in the best area in the game for leveling up (due to the afore metioned magic pots/movers).
this is where i planted my save crystal and where i would advise planting yours.

I used it at the splitting up point. Seemed to make sense to me so I could save, then go down the other path if necessary.

I put mine Right before the parties regrouped... near the part they meet up for the final attack.
I did it randomly the first time, and learned quickly that that random act was a VERY good Idea lol

GreKaosAngel I placed mine right before you walk to your group to finish off the last battles. Same here. I find it's the best place to use the Save Crystal.

Well, It all depends on your style of play. Those that like to save nearby and enjoy the Movers and Pots, have at it. Those that like to save right before the Point of No Return, then enjoy (I'm with you on that one). If I feel like fighting moovers and such I come from the Highwind. I use lots of mastered "Enemy Away" materia to get down there, making it a cakewalk. Some people dont like that as it does get tedious to walk all that way. Personally, my favorite palce to train is the Crashed Gelnika. *Spoiler* all monsters in there can be morphed into all the different types of sources. */spoiler*
So, overall, it's all in personal taste. 3nodding

I put my save crystal before we were about to get ready to face Jenova and Sephiroth.

I always put mine mid-way through the crater, where you fight all the Tonberries and Dragons. Can't say it's the best, but it makes for easy exit and continuation.

Always used to put it at the split up point without thinking. But I'd say it's best to dump it in the hunting ground (area with Magic Pots)

Personally, I've only been to the Northen Cave twice (and gone all the way once. Long story). I put it at the point the party splits too. Mainly because the guide I was using suggested it. It does make some sense though. After all, if you don't have many healing items/MP when you've completed the first path you can heal up there before tackling the second, and run from every battle like a sissy before you reach it (if your close to death of course!)
