I was just curious as to what kind of violin people have; the maker, the year if they know it, and such things. If it has a name/gender I want to know that too. 3nodding For example, my new violin is definitely masculine. Not all violins have a gender, but mine does.
Name: Ajan... it's an elvish prefix meaning 'holy,' but that's what stuck. Company: ...the label says Fried. Aug. Glass. fabrikar in Cremona 1736. Age: It's about a hundred years old. Lots older than me. Value: Est. 3,500 - we got it from a private dealer at 1,300 with my old student violin as trade.

herm...well since I bought my violin second hand at my local music store I'm not too terribly sure on its brand. I do know however from peeking inside of it that its a reproduction of the Stradivarius and was made in 1999. I have a new one on the way, a black maple peice bought wholesale on Ebay ^^.

I own two violins. One is a Yuan-Quin (made in some workshop in SKorea) and it's a pretty good violin. The second one we are not sure of thte make because the label is false, though very old. The label claims it's Georges Chanot, 1855. It is most certainly that old, and quite possibly by that maker...but since the label is false... It's a very good violin nonetheless, it just meant it was less expensive.

I have two violins. One I think is something like a Stradivarius....it was a present from my violin teacher to me, and it's very old...and *really* good. My second violin is my school violin....it was handmade in China ^^; Still good tho.

Mine's a Gliga Vasile, I'm guessing it was made in Italy, and it was made in 2000. (It's not THAT bad, but I do wish I knew more of what I was doing when I chose it. Only picked that one 'cuz it didn't look like a rental instrument, and had fine tuners. I was in 6th grade, alright?!)\
EDIT: It has a name now, yay! I still don't know if it's more masculine or feminine (a friend of mine called it too temperamental to be masculine. heh), but thank goodness Eidolon isn't a gender specific name. (Heck, it's not techincally a name, just a word meaning a phantom or apparation; or an image of an ideal. I just like the way it sounds. Heh. ^^; wink

Not necessarily, you never know where that violin could have come from, it could be a really nice one you got for cheap. 3nodding I got a $10,000 violin for only $6,000 because the owner was stupid blaugh Lol

Lol. You'de be surprised that the first violin I got was from a street performer, it even had cracks in it that needed repair. The repair cost more than the violin, lol. And the bow needed serious re-hairing. The violin was worth about...$10 neutral I still kinda miss it though, you know, memories sweatdrop
