okay, i know this is backwards, but i can't resist sharing this.

there was a program back in the 90s that taught the japanese how to speak english... while doing strange exercises at the same time. the phrases they teach can get pretty obscure. i present to you... zuiikin english.

having an argument: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5qoMfBJUeI
hilarious example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqu1GXQb66k
taxi/mugged/office (LOL what a combo): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-QNWpJaiY0

and they did a special for english speakers who want to learn japanese phrases (oh man, do they have bad pronounciation + bad acting!) and the demonstrators are not the "zuiikin gals" but the "zuiikin boys". *shudders*

LOL, I think I may still have somewhere in a box my old note books from English classes. Looking back now, I think "This teacher didn't know what she was talking about."

Honestly, the best way to learn a language is to live in the country. Classes help, but nothing beats learning to survive.

And let me tell you, nearly every language is like this. When I was learning spanish my grandma would laugh at me because of how I would switch the words in the sentence around, or how when I was in Chile once, I noticed that their english teachers aren't fluent, or how in the US, spanish classes won't help you survive in a spanish speaking country. (Especially at how fast some countries talk.)

That's why I reccommend to anyone who is serious about learning a language, to move to that country for a year or two. It serves as a great teaching device.

dundundundun.

"This teacher didn't know what she was talking about."
"This teacher didn't know what she was talking about."

that's the question. xd

my guess is that it was when terminator came out. this is from the early 90s, after all. i'm guessing terminator was really popular in japan...

It sounds hella intimidating though, ya know? I mean the whole process of trying to ingraciate yourself with everyone around you in trying to speak the way THEY do... That's a really uncomfortable feeling knowing you have to watch every single uttered bit and peace of even every HUM you make in another language... YEESH!!! gonk

The tiny blue shorts that one Zuiiken Boy is wearing are wrong . . . very very wrong. I hope Japanese people don't think American guys all look like that. sweatdrop

Hmm...judging from the womans clothing, and make-up, this would be directed towards any would be Geisha out there. After all, everyone wants to use the young maidens to their fullest extent...
