This guild doesn't seem to be going anywhere fast, so what ideas do people have of making this guild better! (Not that it isn't already good)
I was thinking we could do RP's or something.

Personally I'm not interested in doing RPs or anything of the like.

I would like to see book reviews (of sorts) if people are interested. Basically just post the book you read and the blurb from the back cover and your thoughts on the book.

I don't have enough time to read everything I'd like so I always appreciate when people post their thoughts of books then I know which are more worthy of my time.

Or we could do do a book club type thing where we select a book to read for the week or the month and then go through it together.

I'm all for this idea. But can we assume that people have readily access to whatever book is recommended.

Not only do I read romances but I also try my hand at writing them. We could have a subsection where people can pitch their stories and get hlep or constructive criticism.

Keep thinking of stuff. It''ll be something I can add to the guild advertisement I have up. *On a side note to this, should I change my rules? I've had people interested in joining, but I know that they did not read the rules. Should I let them in anyway?

Well since we don't have many ppl yet I would say let them in, but then tell them to read the rules and if they break them then eat them

A lot of books are available at libraries and most people have access to a library so I wouldn't worry too much about people not being able to get the books. Also used book stores are fairly cheap ...

I'd have to let someone else suggest books to read since the only "romance" book I have in my pile to read right now is Catspell - everything else is either horror, fantasty, mystery, or sci-fi. smile

Fair enough. Ok, I'll add a book club to the advertisement.

How about we have it be on like a bi weekly basis. Not too long a wait and not so short that someone may not be able to finish. I know I personally can finish a 200 plus page book in a day and a half. (I read too fast). Or it could be montly. Either one is good for me.

I could also extend the type of chat to include movie adaptations of books, if any.

Two weeks sounds good. My problem is actually getting my hand on the books as I would probably have to reserve them.

a mailing circle would be fun. People who are willing could share addresses and circulate books.

i find that when shopping for novels, it's hard to find specific titles, like the one your friend read and told you to read.

I like the idea of book reviews, since I'd be very interested on actually buying some of your recomendations.

I'm not opposed to doing book reviews. It's in. I'll make a thread and see how that goes.

One problem I live all the way over in New Zealand, the other side of the world, and it might cost a bit to send the books over here and then back again. Also looking ay ppl's info on themselves it sounds like we are quite spread out around the world

I like that idea. The library is a good way to read romance novels, that is what I usually do. People could take turns suggesting books, and if others can not get a hold of them, they...could just work on next months book? I am unsure....

I, too, have tried my hand at romance. I finished my first novel not too long ago actually. (go me!) I'm going to college to get a degree in english, so I can become a writer when I am older.

((>.> yes you should let them in! blaugh oh wait..that was how I got in. you should post on the front page that they should read the rules forum maybe. I apologize for not reading the rules in the beginning, thank you for letting me join though! ))
