^^ a tshirt design i'm doing for an anime con here in manitoba (...that's in canada xd )

anywho...i'm a first year student at a gd course..so i'm kind of learning still... i've worked with ps for awhile now..so this was the best i came up with
User Image

Aiko..the mascot was not made by me.. but the awesome nattie-chan.. you can check her DA page of the same name ^^...so anyways.. it's mainly the composition, background, etc, that i'd like your opinion on..i know right away her hair shouldn't be cut off... but other than that, critiques and helpful suggestions is most welcome ^^ excuse the pixelation...had to reduce it WAY DOWN O_O

another question... any fun filters/brushes..tips i can try out in ps?? ^^ biggrin

I think that if you were to fade the blues on the composition to match the mascot a bit more, it be a bit better. You really can't do much, everything is alread done. Great job.

I'm not sure how well that would work on a shirt though.

At first I was unsure if a graphic design course was exactly what I wanted, but now I'm sure. THAT is what I wanna do.

Are they screen printing or computer printing the shirts? If they're being screen printed...thats way to complex for a shirt. If they're computer printing, I like it, but computer printing is probally the worst way to go on t-shirts...I do alot of graphic design for bands and stuff and getting computer printed shirts is probally the worst idea you can do if you want it to look professional.

If they are infact screen printing the shirts, than each color would have to be seperated as each screen is a different color. And because that is so many complex colors...it wouldn't be able to be done.

But don't get me wrong, I love how it looks, good job on that. Just from the view of someone who does shirts and stuff for a living.

My question was on the printing on the shirts too. Would this be a block image on the t-shirt or would each color be silkscreened? I agree a lot with what Trash x has said.

OOOOO! PRETTY! I like the t-shirt design, except that the hair is cut off, and that won't look too good on a tshirt.

If you wanna keep it as it is, you want something that can print in extremely high quality colors. And generally, those will run you a lot of money. As it should be with design, simplicity is key, so you want something that can make as huge an impact, in as few colors and shades possible.

The design is great! But I think that the lines that go diagonally down the background takes your focus away from the main character a little. x.X;;

(It's just a little too much going on the in the background then the foreground) ^^;

Anyway, I don't know anything about printing on t-shirts other then to prep it for printing you should have 300 dpi and color set at CMYK (Pantone/Spot color may be better for T-shirts), so I can't put any input on that. sweatdrop But I am taking a pre-press and print class so I'll eventually learn something about it and how it works. So... possibly I may be giving some input about printing within the next few months. =P

As an average person, I totally think it's cute.
