I'm not sure...The first time I saw him, I thought he was a freak. XD I started to think he was awesome after awhile, even though he had been murdering people like 1, 2, 3, BOOM...But then, I skipped ahead and learned his past...It was heartwrenching...
I'm not sure why a character such as him would really appeal to me, but then again, most of them do, anyway...-.-; I guess it was meant to be. And I can truly understand a character once I know what they've gone through...

I do believe that we already have a thread like this but I'm too lazy to search the deep bowels of this guild....
I think that I saw him the first time during a scene in the forest of detah, due to me reading "Shonen Jump" in no particular order, but I liked him.
I cannot explain why I liked him more than the others (In fact I like all characters equally but Gaara just a tad more xD)
his past was one fact that made melike him even more but I think it was the typical:
"meh, bad guys are always cooler!"
but I have grown from that long time ago.
Now I would say, he is a beautiful character, not only by his looks, even his development.

I agree with that all the way Pinumbra. I first found gaara when I was looking for character images and found his. He looked pretty badass so I looked for more pics. Then I saw a Gaara AMV that made me cry. I love his babyface when he was a kid

I love (well kinda) that he has a bad child hood *cries for Gaara* but then again, I have one too
I love that he like.. kicks everyone's asses..
And I love by like.. the end of the series his heart becomes softer (awwwwwwwwwwwww)

Well. When I first saw him in the tree, upside down. I was like "O____o, I wish I could do that!" I thought he looked pretty cool.
Later on, I discovered he could control the sand, whichI found to be awesome.
In the Chuunin Exams, I loved his expressions as he was fighting Lee.
Then I became a really big fan of him ^__^

prolly cause i was labeled him at school for me beatin up some boys that ******** with me and i was pretty damn mean to everyone,just like two people i talked to....yah i was a meanie...haha they pissed me off and cause of my EYELINER!! lol yah..... there were people labeled zabuza and kakashi i was gaara some girl was KAKASHI!!!! lmao and they were annoying as hell if i could i'd desset coffin there asses.
yes i was obsessed with gaara for a lil bit now itachi is my new craze!!!!

I'd have to say that it is most definately EVERYTHING about him. His past his present, his future, i LOVE IT ALL. i can almost relate to him.. but not on the same level. i also like the idea that he isnt a main character, but he has pretty much the same things as the main character. He's also so unpredictable.
