Well, I gotta have a thread so everyone can introduce themselves.

I'm kaze_neko...(it says so in the corner xd ) I've been reading romance novels since I was 10. Yes ladies and gents 10. I've always loved to read. I started with nursery rhymes like most kids, got into fairy tales and comic and by 10 my first harlequin and I've been a romance geek ever since. To me romance novels are nothing more than fairy tales for big kids. I personally do not believe in love at first sight or happily ever afters. But they are nice ideas that give me the warmfuzzies. My favorite author to date is Johanna Lindsey. Her historical novels are hard for me to put down once I start. Her Malory series is my favorite so far.

I'm kuramas_gurl314. I have been reading romance novels since I can remember but not as younge as ten. I am also a hopless romantic in the real world. I read anything that has romance in it. Especially historical ones. My favorite romance author is Meg Cobot. There are others but not as strong as Meg Cobt's.
Fairy tale endings are my favorite, but I don't believe they exist in the real world. I wish they were.

I'm Dewdew and I know my first proper novel I read was The Secret Garden (at the age of seven) but I don't know what my first romance story was. Maybe like one of the sequels to Anne of Green Gables or Heidi grows up, one of thise innocent ones. I just love romance stories, doesn't matter how they end. However I'm not so much into the love at first sight, unless there is a really good story afterwards, I like to try and work out when the characters find out when they love each other.
However one of my favorite romance stories is The Bronze Horseman and that was love at first sight, but they had to hide that love because a)he was going out with her sister and b) His stupid friend who was trying to wreck his life. It is set in Russia and is really good.
I like Meg Cabot too. I don't really have a fave author, though in different types of genre I have faves, e.g. adult fantasy David Eddings etc.

I don't consider Romance to be a genre, it is more a part of most good books.

Ahhh .. I began reading romances around age 10 as well. My Mom read them and I was always out of books (I read too fast) and so I would sneak hers and hide them under my mattress. I also started writing romance at this age but later got into BIG trouble when my Mom found out that I was writing naughty sex scenes. wink

Anyway, I put away the writing for years and the romance books. I took them both back up in my mid-20's and became an avid and voracious reader of them. I'll read pretty much anything but I'm also very picky about what I end up liking. I may finish reading something that's not worth the time just because I don't have anything else to read.

I've spent the last few years reading a lot of fanfiction because I often find it better than the "real" thing.

What else .. I also write both fanfiction and original novels. It's something that I love to do and try to do it as much as I can though lately I'm reading more than anything else.

My favorite true romance writer is LaVyrle Spencer, she writes both contemporary and historical novels.

My favorite paranormal writer, who can't clearly be classified as romance would be Laurell K. Hamilton. I also like Charlaine Harris.

Lately I'm into a few different authors, namely Poppy Z. Brite (horror/contemporary) and Lynn Flewellyn (fantasy).

Phew.

Hi! I'm aoi_shojo and I'm portuguese. I started reasing romances because they're cheaper than other books (and books are quite expensive here...) and I became addicted...
One of my first romances was sneaked away from my mom colection (my mom is the type of person that bought books just to read the first page and say 'I don't have time for this!' and put the book away, so she still doesn't know that some of her books are romances, since novel and romances have the same name in portuguese, romances xp ...). It was an historical romance called roughtly translated "Marriage of convinience".

My favorite author are a lot, but I'm a supernatural romance addict!

I love Charlain Harris, early Anita Blake from Laurell K. Hamilton, Katie MacAlister (especially the Aisling Grey series!), Kim Harrison, etc...

My name is Gataki_426 and I'm a romance addict. I started reading romance books while also ten years of age. And I am what is usually called a cynical hopless romantic. I love harlequin presents, supernaturals and especially historicals.

Hello, my name is Page boy and i'm and alcoholic.--er, romance novel enthusiast.

My interests in the genre budded at the tender and curious age of thirteen, when i started picking up free romance novels from book bins to pass the time.
four, almost five years later, I now have a quite an extensive collection, which i've added to since being in france.

I'm open-minded to many genres, authors, and publishers, but most loyal to Zebra and Avon Historical romances.
I'd love to read more supernatural romance, and am not a huge fan of contemporary romance.

Hi there, thank you for inviting me ^^

I must admit that even though I'm a romance addict, I have not read that many novels, and the ones that I've read are spanish ones sweatdrop
Mostly I've read fanfics and such, and have recently started to write my own.
But I'm always willing to try new things and seeing the recomended titles here will surely get me to buy some of them and see where it takes me.

... and no my mom doesn't have a collection that I could've read xd

Hi, I jsut joined, and my name is Mia Eidenschink. I love to read Romance novels. I read at least one a week. My current favorite is "Twilight Hunger" by Maggie Shayne. It is a vampiric romance novel and that is all I can say. *giggles* I love to brag about them. I usually have my brother help me pick them out, because he thinks the titles are usually too much. Whenever I get to a really good part in a novel, I will squeel and giggle and kick my feet. My boyfriend loves it when I'm in that mood. surprised pps: sweatdrop

Hi. biggrin DDD

I stumbled upon romance novels (or I should say I started reading them) kind of by accidenta few years ago. I picked up a copy of The Secret Life of Bryan by Lori Foster when I saw it sitting on a table at B. Dalton, read Say No to Joe? after that and from there it's all history. I'm going through a bit of a lull right now in the reading (because I've read most of the books I want to read and because I'm trying to dedicate time to my writing), but I've been known to read more than one book at a time and I think I went through one particular week where I read six books? XD

I mostly read historicals, but I also enjoy Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter Series, Christine Feehan's Carpatian Series and anything by Erin McCarthy, Lori Foster or Shannon McKenna.

Hi I'm Fire Phoenix Rose (thinking of changing it) I'm 16 going to be 17 on sept 7. I love reading romance novels. The ones I read are mostly historical, contemporary, and the great favorite of mine: paranormal. I was introduced to romance novels by my mom since her 4 old harlequin ones were the only books in the house I haven't read. Then introduced to paranormal romance by my old teacher who read to the class the prologue to Minion by L.A. Banks. I got hooked so I got all the books in the series including Stroke of Midnoght. After that book I fell in love with romance novels. I know, how ironic. I also like horror and mythology,. I have over 350 books and the majority of it is romance.
My favories authors are Nora Roberts, Amanda Ashley, Christine Feehan, Ronda Thompson, C.T. Adams & Cathy Clamp, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Amanda Ashley, Lori Handeland, Susan Sizemore, Linda Howard, Susan Krinard, Maggie Shayne , and Sandra Brown.

Hi, I'm schwthrt2. I've been reading romance novels since I was about 10. Seven years have passed and now I'm working on my 2nd and 3rd fantasy novel. My novels all have a romance theme mixed in with war, mystery, comedy, and so many other aspects. I enjoy writing almost as much as singing. The sad thing is that there just aren't enough words for me to use. I don't believe in 'love at first sight'. I don't think that that is love. I dream of a knight in shining armor or a 'happily ever after' kind of love life but so far I don't even have a love life. That's okay though, I'm young, I'm still trying to survive as a human being, I'll have time for later. That's why I write about it and read about it too. I love Christian Romance novels, fantasy novels, and I'm not really interested in modern romance.
