Well, I started out a year an a half ago wanting to bring students of the Japanese language together on Gaia, and now we're the largest and most active Learning Japanese guild on Gaia.

So, therefore, I need a little help. The two monitors we have are very active with their own guilds and so I think the JSG needs a few more. So I'm putting out a call for monitors and will hopefully promote 2 or 3 memebers to monitor status soon.

Monitor Responsibilities
In general, monitors will agree to
* Follow and uphold the Guild Rules
* Be an active and positive influence on the guild.
* Be a positive representative of the guild in other areas of Gaia
* Be willing to work with Freakezette on keeping this guild a friendly, fun, and educational place.

Some specific duties Monitors will agree to perform:
* Lock threads and delete posts that are blatent violations of the guild rules.
* Check the "join requests" queue in the moderator panel at least once a week and approve requests
* Have a banner or a link to the guild in their signature
* PM Freakezette to alert her of questionable activitives, or make suggestions on how to handle certain threads/members/etc.
* Allow PMs (if only from friend, then they will need to add all the monitors to their friends list) so that there can be easy communication among the crew

Also, Monitor will agree to NOT:
* abuse their monitoring power
* ban anyone without alerting Freakezette
* There might be more, can't think of anything else. . . biggrin

Requirements
All applicants must:
1. Be fairly active in the JSG
2. Have proven themselves to be polite and mature in their posts
3. Know and agree to uphold the Guild Rules
4. Be willing to sacrifice a little signature space to have a link or a banner in their signature

The following factors will be taken into consideration:
* Length of time applicant has been a member of Gaia (to establish a longterm interest in the community)
* Previous monitoring experience
* Number of posts and what kind of posts applicant has written in the JSG
* Style of writing (just to warn you, l337 speak and a lot of internet term usage will probably distract me)
* Amount of time applicant has been learning japanese in a formal or non-formal setting
* JLPT Level . . . just kidding smile

Okay, go to the next post for an application form:

The Selection
I'm going to accept monitor applications until 11:00pm next Saturday, June 10th, and hopefully will select 2 or 3 monitors by 11pm Sunday, June 11th. The selected monitor will get a free signature picture so they may display their new monitor status proudly.

I also want to express that this will hopefully be an objective selection, no one is being favored in particular, and no particular factor is going to make or break anyone's application. In other words, it's not personal, and I don't want any who isn't selected to be angry. (Look at me, no one had applied yet, and I'm already doing damage control) I love you all!

My reason for applying, is because I want this guild to continue to be one of the best Japanese guilds on Gaia, and I want to make sure it stays alive, and doesn't get dragged down. And I would make a good monitor because in every guild I moderate, I always do my best to bring fresh, and interesting conversation, and fresh, and interesting new members into the fold, and I hope to bring this same attitude into this guild, as well. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

If you want more than one. xd Why not, instead of having people apply for a set amount of time, have a certain amount of monitor postions you need to fill, and have them fill it out here, or send it to you, and you can examine it, and determine whether or not they're right for the job?

Or even pick out folks you know are active in the guild, and consistantly contribute to it, and in the process of keeping it on it's feet, as it expands.

Based on a qualified application, and for being the only one who applied this week, I would like to welcome Koiyuki as the newest crew member of the JSG. Yay!

I feel there is still however a need for maybe one or two more monitors. So I would like to invite anyone interested to go ahead and fill out the form in the second post and pm it to me. I may take Koiyuki's advice and request some folks to consider becoming a monitor, Ill have to think about it. Go go JSG guild!

Alright, I'm sorry it's late, but I didn't think it would still be open after a month, so I originally didn't intend to send it confused

I would like to welcome our newest monitor, NakaTake. I'm waiting to hear back from someone else, but as of now the Monitor posts are filled. As we continue to grow, I'm sure we will need to take on more monitors, so check back if you are interested in the future.
