Live Review
Kozi was great. The live wasnt really all that full. Maybe a small bit over half sold out. Popo was a little freaked out because the audience members were a little older than she is used to at her gazette and ayabie lives. Also many people were wearing very tall platform shoes or naturally quite tall. There were also quite a few men there. O-east is a fairly nice venue. It seems that its not all that old. The stage is a nice size; nicely wide and plenty deep. There are monitor screens on either side of the stage. For this live there was sort of a Kozi screensaver mixed with current live footage of the show. There really wasnt much competition for standing spots since it wasnt very full. It didnt take me long to assume my usually 3/4 row position.
I was quite pleased with the set list. Obviously since it was the "loki 'n roll" show he played songs off of there and I dont really know those. I know "que sera sera" was one of them and obviously "loki n roll". Also "who's mind" played at some point I think before honey vanity. But also he played quite a few songs I was hoping for off of catharsis like incoherents, grottesca, nocturne, dans erebos, promenade, crimson star, cruel arcadia. He also played honey vanity (<3). Im not sure if he played "night creature". I want to say yes but I cant remember. He also played "I can't take my eyes off of you" which was completely awesome. No real big announcements during the MC banter. just to be sure to follow the new links to download kozi cellphone ringtones.
There was a misshap about halfway through where Kozi tripped on a cord and fell proving that even Kozi cannot walk in those ridiculously high shoes. And right before the last song there was some problem where the line in to the amp from his guitar wasnt working right. But he took both these in stride like a pro.
Well I have to go wash lolita sweat off of me and crap together a lunch. Its already midnight and I have work tomorrow. .... ugh.
EDIT: it was "i cant take my eyes off of you" which I realized as I was humming it on the walk to work this morning. ... Shut up I was tired last night when I was writing that. As far as outfit, hmm he was wearing a short dress with black and red diamonds on it and wide bell sleeves that had been gathered and it had a white pilgrim yoke collar. Its the dress used in all the promotion shots for loki n roll I think. He had his hair done in a mixture of braids and dreads and red yarn. He looked nice, no scary pencil mustache, just very pretty. and damn he has nice legs.
I'm also going to include some additional information that I this person gave when replying to some comments on her LJ entry
More Information
while he was struggling with the guitar the audience was trying to bolster him and started singing happy birthday for some reason. Kozi was like ... naze happy birthday... when it started working finally he was so happy he was "GUITAR GUITAR GUITAR!"
It wasnt very elaborate. Just Kozi, a guitarist, a bassist, and a drummer. No backdrops or props. I was um sort of fiddling with my pants during the introductions because they got caught on some metal goth part of a girl next to me so I was trying to discretely disengage myself. The drummer was older and not wearing any makeup and maybe in a black tshirt or something with blond permed half-fro. I think maybe they said this was his first time performing with kozi...maybe. The bassist was named Kenji I think. Kozi said what I was thinking which was that Kenji was chotto green day looking. He had alot of smudgy black raccoon eyeliner on and had shaved the sides of his heads so that he had a short slighly wavy mohawk down the middle. I cant remember what he was wearing, maybe some black twill material cargo pants with chains? His bass looked like a musicman style. black and white with stickers all over. The guitarist is the same one who always performs with Kozi but hell if I remember his name. He was wearing a top hat and white face with dark red or black lips and false eyelashes. He was wearing a long skirt or pants with a long skirt part or something. He was also wearing those super high shoes like kozi. I forget what kind of guitar he was using. The only things on stage were them, their instruments, water bottles, and a megaphone that kozi used for one of the songs. Kozi had 2 guitars with him. I red flying V and a red curly looking malice mizer guitar. He wanted to play that one song where the input jack wasnt working with the flying V but ended up with the other guitar because it was the one that worked so they must have been tuned the same.
