As you hopefully know, California is a border state, and as you also hopefully know, there is an on going debate about illegal immigration into this country. As a border state, this affects us directly. So what is your view on the subject?

This is also for free and open debate! No saying someone else is wrong. We all have our own opinions and we should be respectful of that.

And If I hear anyone and I mean anyone using the "racist" card, your out. Like I said above, just because someone disagress with you doesnt mean they are wrong (unless of course their idea is totally out in space where its like "wtf is wrong with you")

I dont think people would have such a problem with it if it wasnt so big in scale.

Of course they should immigrants are citizens. I also think illegal immigrants do deserve some rights, but limited rights...like those of people living in the US territories. ninja

More visas might help...but 1million are already given a year...thats alot of people.

What I think should happen is when you get a Visa...you work for like 10 or so years and then are made a citizen. ninja

I think the way to be a citizen is equal and fair...we allow more people to be citizens then other countries, even our allies. There has to be a middle ground where both sides say "its not perfect, but its still better then everywhere else" rofl

Well, I personally know a guy who's not a citizen, and he's hard-working, a great person, is a terrific husband and brother... if you were picking the types of personalities of people you'd want in your country, he'd be right up there, y'know? Most of the people I know who are "burdens on society" are not immigrants at all. So I really think that the whole "immigrants are taking jobs from Americans" and "immigrants are taking all the welfare money" and similar statements are about as based in reality as the belief fostered in Germany in the 1930's that Germany's state of poverty was the fault of the Jews and gypsies, and giving rise to--

Cos it lately it seems like there's a couple thousand years' worth of history that American politicians never passed their classes in...

I don't know wat the problem is. Besides my MOM is an immigrant LEGAL btw. But some ppl take it too far when it comes to this issue. Ever met anybody like that? It sux stare

I do know people here illegally... and I still think that they work harder than most legal or natural residents.

I don't think it would even be an issue accept for most Mexicans are Catholic, not all, but most and that means no belief in birth control. So it's the massive amount of people with 10 children to one family that people are trying to avoid. And the english part, if they want to come here they should learn english, if I were to move to Germany...I would learn German, not expect everyone to learn English. But it is a topic that most wouldn't want to touch with a ten foot poll.
