H'okay. So we're a cutesy little middle school choir. And for our Disney Magic Music Days performance every year, we chereograph. Silly, exaggerated, over-emphasized, choir dance. That aside...

I go to a private Catholic school. Filled with spoiled little rich kids. So of course, they even had to make our choir trips over-the-top.
For the past two years, those who could afford it, went to Hawaii for spring break.
How is Hawaii...related to choir at all?
Our original plan was a trip to Paris. But what with terrorism...terrors, they decided to make our trip on a plane in the other direction. I'd so take Paris over Hawaii....it's not like I could've afforded it anyway, though.

Anyhoo....
to make the "cultural experience complete", along with learning Hawaiian music, our campus minister (who's part of a male hawaiian performance group), taught us the hula. The hula.
Don't get me wrong, the hula's a beautiful dance, but it's not very...widely accepted.

Every year at our school, we have what we call the International Fair. The 6th graders do research reports, and then dress up in cutural dress for one day. On that day, we have the International Mass, where we present a million different flags, and say the readings in different languages, etc. To top it off last year, we performed the hula. In front of the entire school. Which is horribly culturally ignorant. Not even full grown adults, let alone their children, could hide the fact that they were laughing at us.
And for the rest of the day, everyone came up to us doing their mock-hulas learned from stereotypical old sufer-in-Hawaii movies. And on that day, the school lost what little respect they had ever had for us.

And so I ask you....
why dance? Isn't this choir?

[/rant]

Discuss:
The absolute ridiculousness of what I said above.
Do you guys ever chereograph?
Being the school laughing stock.
And MORE! sweatdrop

4 Words: High School Pop Show. Every year the choirs get together and do diffenet "pop" style songs and we dance to them. And our teachers were two white girls razz like me! So not very good moves so yeah we dance every year >.O

Ha, we leave the dancing to Synchronicity (the show choir at my school). Hardly anybody in my choir can dance.

My choir is doing choreography to the song "I Love A Piano."

...there is a REASON that I'm not in show choir. There is a REASON why I never get cast as a lead character in any play/musical I've ever been in.

I'M NOT FREAKING COORDINATED.

I'm one of... oh... two people who don't know the dance yet. It's pathetic, and very, very embarassing.

Back in November.

African. Dancing.

We did a whole bunch during practice, and then had a 8 hour workshop on it

it was really fun..../tiring.

We're doing a piece called 'Steppin' Out With My Baby', and we had to choreograph a dance for it. There's a reason why I'm in choir and not dance. I've already knocked over the second soprano and alto section by accident. I'm not by ANY means coordinated, so its really awkward, not to mention embarassing that I can't sing and dance at the same time.

We're doing some for "Stand By Me"
And the girls get to do some things with their hands,
then everyone just breaks into randomness.
While my boyfriend and I and another couple have to slow dance.
And I'm like "WTF? I'm gald this is my last year being here."
I'm going to high school next year and I made advance choir.
w00t!

But it's funny in a way,
my boyfriend had no sence of beat,
and he doesn't sing out.
It's really annoying.

~Update~
At promotion we did very bad.
Everyone was very nervous,
and no one would sing out.

We have our end of the year pop concert where we sing/dance to modern songs.

It was actually quite fun, and the girls in my choir were quite coordinated. I don't mind much since I used to be in dance, but a lot of the girls had the same complaint of "BUT THIS IS CHOIR!"

Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

*-x-You cannot kill...-x-*
Well...

The only dancing I ever had to do was for my second concert.

We were singing songs from the..60s and 70s I think...I know we did the 70s.

...we had to do the YMCA.

They made our choir dance for our end of the year preformance. (but it was only about 6 people who were forced to dance)

The only choreographing we did was swaying from side to side and clapping >. gonk

And if those people are giving you a rough time... don't pay any attention. Honestly, if I were you, I'd find one of those hula skirts in a dollar store, and wear one everywhere at school, having fun with it. Every time someone tried mocking me, I'd start dancing too, and like... try to make him waltz with me (thats right, i can waltz!)

Just a word of advice wink take everything with a light heart. Less grey hairs when you're 20.

Amnd being the laughing stock of the school? Oh, hell. All the time. Last year I went to a everyone-knows-everyone school, and I was kinda the school punk... no one liked that very much =/

Here, we were doing mock olympics when the winter games were on, and me and a partner did the mock figure skating, which was a dance routine. At the end, my other friend dressed as a ninja ran out, pied me, and then stole my friend's clothes xd oh, we were laughing stock, but it was fun at the time!

Think about how much fun you're having, not how much jerks people are Dx

People are ignorant, just leave them at that. Have fun! :dances:.

Im in cantablie Chior. AKA the Dance choir. we sing we dance its fun ^_^
I would of went out for Show choir. There this great group that does a lot of swing steps and sings at the same time. But I dont liek the fact I'd be dancing with another guy and Cantablie is a all girls choir and we dont do partner dances to an extent like Show does.

I love being in a dance choir.
We have normal Choirs but being in one of the dance choirs gave me a new experince and a new side to singing.

OMG! we have to dance and stuff for Show Choir, which I PERSONALLY HATE! I mean...just RR! We are in CHORUS! NOT THE DANCE TEAM! NOT THE STEP TEAM! CHORUS! I mean hellooooo! stressed lol!! But its not that...horribly..detestable. I mean, this year we are doing HighSchool Musical. So when we go to get judged, that should win us the cuteness factor.lol.

Yes, we did dance. Picture this. Over a hundred high schoolers on FIVE TEENY risers, DANCING. And then we all lean to the side and almost knock each other over with an overly exaggerated grin and crossed arms. I PUNCHED the girl in front of me.

Our show choir dances for every song... No offense but if a choir that doesn't usually dance suddenly starts addign a few feeble motions, it looks weird. On the plus side, grandparents love it! xd
