Most of the Eastern portion of Melancholia is the site on which the Outsiders once attacked. You can still see the souls of the early Empyreans scorched into the rubble of the ruins. They flicker and shift, caught in perpetual silent screams, moans and weeping. They long for dialogue to distract the from their eternal fate, and will draw towards living souls that wander into their domain like candle flames blown sideways on the wicke. The only Empyreans that choose to live in the Melancholia district are those studying the history of the past, artists driven by intense inspiration, and those who come to pity and love the scorched souls. For those just entering the Melancholia District, all that is visible at first is dimly lit ruins and buildings of stone. The walkways and streets are paved with wide flagstones, and occassionally weeds poke up from between the stones. Mist is a perpetual occurance here, and it gives the air a frigid and chill quality. Lanthern lights hang in the occupied houses, and occassionally light the street corners. Generally the Melancholia District has the appearance of a ghost town, being overly still and generally quite silent.

Lelaus Welcome everyone!! Alright, before we head out, I just want to go over a coupla rules with you guys. It is intensely important that you stick together as a group. No wandering off. An' I ain't saying that to be a stickler...it really is too dangerous for you to wander off on your own. While it's pretty safe in the inner districts of the City, out here on the verges, a lot of nasty things sneak in...things that walls can't keep out. I'll tell you a story about a lil girl we once had who wandered off on her own--
Abrid "Ahem...Lelaus, don't get ahead of yourself... You've entirely forgotten to lay out the rules. Tsk. Alright then, here they are: As we make our way through the Melancholia District, we encourage you to look around, even to chat and discuss about what you see. If you have Questions, by all means, ask them. (Questions asked will be answered by Taro in quotes to represent the teacher answering, as all posts made by Ahd.ar.ohk are official Event posts.) Stick together as a group. No wandering off. It really is too dangerous. Throughout our fieldtrip, Lelaus or myself will be posting up Tasks, and each Task will have its own rules, which will be outlined in their specific posts. Each Task will be for a certain number and type of prizes, and will be open to players and non-players. If you're a non-player, please post in double brackets. You can either post your personal responses to the events that go on, or you can merely chat with other users. Just keep it friendly and fun. With all that said, if you have any questions before we start, please voice them now.

Grave stood in the midst of his other classmates, watching the cloud of hot breath hang in the still air. The students around him were chattering and huddling close to each other for warmth. Grave pulled his overcoat tighter around himself and looked between the student's bodies for a familiar face. Ahead of the group, Lelaus and Abrid were talking quietly amongst themselves. A field trip... Grave was excited, but a little apprehensive nonetheless. It seemed strange to him that they would go on a Fieldtrip in the middle of the night, with the full moon hanging heavy above their heads. Couldn't they go when the city was less creepy? When there was less mist everywhere on the ground? Was the rest of the city this barren, this cold?

It was cold outside, and Amelia was shivering--she should have dressed warmer, or worn some pants instead of her usual dress. She did have a coat, and she was glad for that, making sure it was buttoned to the top. She's also managed to wrap a scarf around her thin neck, protecting it from the elements as well.
Though she was cold and slightly miserable, she couldn't help but be excited about the day. Today they were going on a fieldtrip! It wasn't every day that the Zeros got to go outside of the White District, and Amelia could only imagine what they would find outside of their usually comfortable and protected surroundings.
The night was dark and Amelia's eyes adjusted to the dim light as she glanced around to look for classmates that she knew. There was a familiar face here and there, but her eyes turned to the professors standing at the front of the large group. Where would they be taking them?

Nadyrr looked around skittishly at those gathered, the chilled night air brought a slight tint of orange flush to his cheeks as it whipped around him. Huddled inside of his thick sweater and hat he was mostly protected from the worst of the elements. The night was more then slightly frightening and the two that lead them were mysteries to him. He watched the elders with curiousity when he got the chance. As some of the students moved closer to him without seeming to realize it he inched away. To him the terrors of what they could see or witness were far less terrifying then holding a conversation with strangers. A little miserable with his inability to speak to the others mixed with the night he could feel the familiar tug of loneliness from within him; looking down a little he tried to make himself small as the others milled around waiting to get moving.

Grave caught sight of Amelia's pale hair amongst the coats and scarves of the Zeros and shuffled his way towards her. "Hello, Amelia. Are you as excited as I am?" Grave whispered, for some reason too afraid to raise his voice. He offered a smile, forgetting that the high collar of his coat hid his mouth from view.

Selene clung to Chandra for warmth and comfort. She cursed herself for not borrowing a pair of Chandra's pants. But oh how she hated pants. Still, she was now freezing. Luckily, the warm figure of her sister was not minding the extra body wieght.
Chandra was entirely off in her own little world. She had spoted Grave. Her idol, the one whom made her feel warm no matter the temperature. Of course, she was trying her hardest not to look like she had any interest in him in all. She was wayyyy too shy to ever speak to him, and rather wrapped up in just watching from afar.
Selene wondered what could possibly be taking her sister's attention. Surely that one was not in some deep thought about the field trip. What would be the silly point in thinking about it now. Thinking will come once they get moving and started seeing things. Although, Selene wondered. What will they be seeing anyways? There didn't seem to be a lot to where they were. Ruins, mist, cold, how exciting could that possibly be.

Cold, something Elanin wasn't quite fond of, but none the less she was out here, her coat wrapped around her as she shivered against the chill. Ugh it was cold, she wished it was a little warmer... She rubbed her hands together and blew into them, warming them up a little bit more against the chill. Ick, that was the only way she could describe the weather right now, ick. She took in her surrondings and shivered. She wasn't usually one to scare easily, but the area around her sent a cold shiver down her spine.
However, she was excited, they were going on a feildtrip! She could have jumped for joy if it wasn't so flipping cold! Well okay, maybe not jumped for joy, but she would have definatly expressed her excitement in a more physical way than just a little smile.
It was late though, and she wondered why the professors had chosen now of all times to take them out and about. She could be asleep in her nice warm bed now, getting ready for classes or something! She shook her head and let it go, after all, this was a rare event, and she was going to savor every moment of it.

Torrid stood at the head of the group, watching Abrid admiringly. The coat he brought along for the outing hung tied around his waist, leaving his arms bare where they weren't covered with his arm warmers. He relished the feeling of the air, finding it pleasently cool and not really feeling the cold.

"Alright you young sprats!!" It was Lelaus that spoke. "We're gonna be heading out here, so keep close!" Lelaus gave a grin and a nod to Abrid, and stuffing his hands into the pockets of his sweater he turned and began to walk towards the dark streets of the Melancholia District. The narrow flagstoned streets were dark, and only here and there lonely lanterns hung, casting pools of golden light into an otherwise bleak landscape. A low hum could be heard in the air, but whether it was the sound of wings far away or the drone of electricity was hard to say.
Grave's eyes shot up as he heard the Professor speak. Well, here we go... Grave thought to himself and gave a large swallow.

Elanin jumped a little at the voice of the professor, having been shaken out of thoughts of a warmer climate. She nodded to herself and smiled a little more. It was time to go it seemed, and that left her feeling a little better about this. She noticed the one Choleric boy from earlier, she couldn't quite remember if she'd ever gotten his name, and that bothered her, so she moved over quietly and laid a hand on Nadyrr's shoulder.
"Hi," She said with a warm smile yet again. After all, nobody should be feeling more skittish than her around her.

Tavon pulled his hat down as much as he could over his ears, tyring to warm them up a bit.He was a bit curious as to why they were going on this little trip at night, and why it was so cold!As he looked around for any familiar faces he pulled his collar up a bit and wrapped his arm tightly around himself, trying to keep warm.As a voice from the front of the group spoke he looked up, blinking as they started forward.

Nadyrr shuffled along making sure to keep the professor in sight as they started off. His eyes darted around and although he was trying to stay with the group he was also trying to stay as far away from it as possible. The thickly covered boy sniffed a bit in the frigid air glad for his heavy clothing. While others might be feeling fear or anxiety he found that he was actually looking forward to what may be ahead. There was an excited eagerness in him fueled by his curiousity, perhaps things wouldn't be so bad even with all the people. Nadyrr enjoyed mystery and the unknown and for some reason it held no fear for him.
Then all his thoughts went away as a girl from his class came close and spoke to him, jumping like a frightened animal his eyes going wide he looks to Elanin. Only after a few awkward moments did he realize he should respond, "H-hi..." Nadyrr gulps quickly as he speaks.

Once moving, Selene didn't feel nearly as dumb for her attire. For some reason, hanging close to Chandra but still finding a way to move in her own dancer-like way helped warm her up. The light pools cast by the lamps might seem errie to some, but Selene found them positively beautiful. She wanted to dance between them. Like it was a stage set for a failed romance.
Chandra was too busy keeping Grave in her view, while staying unnoctied to figure out what her sister's latest antics and daydreams where. She was growing immensly jealous of Amelia who could just talk to Grave. Although, it was not Amelia who had Grave rumors swirling about. Chandra realized she'd probably never find the courage to even befriend Grave. But that was beside the point in matters such as these.
