In the City of Empyrean live a race of creatures called the Empyreans. They are ruled by the world around them, and at the time of their birth granted life from one of the four Essences of the world. These Essences determine the Empyrean's alignment and certain colourations of the child, its attributes and personality traits. This connection to the world through Essence allows the Empyreans to use magics - skills which the Outsiders cannot use, do not understand and fear. It is perhaps the only tool the Empyreans have which sets them above the barbaric Outsiders and protects them from the monsters.

Stages Each Empyrean starts life as a Zero Stage creature, with simple colours and no Additions. As these simple creatures they cannot weild magic, and do not have the knowledge and skills that will make them true Empyreans. Any additions added to an Empyrean as it changes from one stage to another cannot be undone. These Additions may be left as is in size, colour and shape, or they may be added onto again to increase their size, change their colour or shape.
Empyreans start out around the physical age of 5-12. Older husks are unheard of. As they ascend, their physical age jumps by 10, so an Empyr that starts at age 5 would be age 15 at stage One, 25 at stage Two, and 35 at stage Three. .....Stage Zero Stage Zeros live, eat, bath, play and learn in the White District, which is in essence The Academy. Under no circumstances may a Zero Stage Empyrean be allowed to leave the White District. Within the walls of the White District, young Empyreans are taught 16 subjects by 16 Professors. The subjects are meant to enlighten the Empyrean's mind and enable them to make the transition to Stage One. The Subjects taught are: Rhetoric, Literature, Magic Theory, Astronomy, Philosophy, Science, Mathematics, History, Botany, Animal Care, Music, Art, Cooking, Physical Education, Crafting, and Law.
Stage One..... By Stage One, Empyreans begin to show signs of their Essence Blood surfacing in the form of horns, wings, tails, claws, markings, etc. Stage One Empyreans are allowed to leave the White District, and are given housing in one of the Four Inner Districts, depending on Alignment. Sanguine Aligned Empyreans move to the Red District, Melancholy to the Black District, Phlegm to the Blue District and Choleric to the Green District. Here they begin to work for the City, doing crafting, art, music, training and magical application so that they may benefit their city and enable it to prosper. .....Stage Two At Stage Two, Empyreans can take one of the Positions addressed later: Gatekeeper, Grigori, Seraphim, or Chorus. These positions take active roles in the city to defend and fight Outsiders, Monsters and keep younger Empyreans in line with the Law. At Stage Two the signs of Essence more prominantly show, some developing more signs others having their signs grow further. Stage Two Empyreans have stronger Magic and more authority. Stage Three..... An Empyrean will finally reach Stage Three once he or she has left the City of Empyrean and seen the Outside. It is at this point that their final changes will take place, although these are usually in form of Essence. Stage Three Empyreans have so much gathered Essence that the Essence itself becomes visible when the Empyrean undertakes the task his or her Alignment is best suited for. For instance, Sanguine Empyreans will begin showing their Essence when they exert themselves a great deal in Physcal Endeavours; Melancholy Empyreans will show their Essence when they do a great deal of thinking or reading; Phlegm will show theirs when they become too emotional for good or ill; Choleric will show theirs when working with matters of the world, such as flora, fauna or crafting. All Empyreans will show their Essence when casting Magic of any kind.

Neither of the serpents of the Digamma will ever fully devour the other, as both are equal in strength and size, and truly without each other to feed from, the snakes in the Digamma would perish. The Digamma symbolizes not only the struggle of opposites, but also the dependance on balance for both to survive and flourish. All Melancholy Aligned Empyreans will wear their Digamma Ouroboros as a sign of pride somewhere on their person at all times, whether it be emblazoned on a possession they are never without, emroidered or fastened onto clothing, tattooed into flesh or dyed into fur, it must always be worn and visible. More than any other Alignment, Sanguine have a tendancy to get out of hand, whether it be go too far in speech and say something they oughtn't or from striking too hard in a friendly duel, their over-zealous nature gets them into trouble. They have also a habit of biting off more than they can chew or getting themselves into situations they believe they can handle only to discover too late they are not ready to face their dilemmas. The serpents of the Stigma show two snakes both trying to strike to win, taking the risk and opening themselves up for a strike from ther opponent. The Stigma stands for carelessness, fighting spirit, ambition and success through diligence and passion. While the Sanguine may not be as naturally talented as the Melancholy, or as hard-working as the Choleric, or as astute as the Phlegm, they more than make up for it with passion and desire, and will give their goals everything they've got. Alignments: PhlegmPhlegm is the Essence of the Heart, and are assigned to the Blue District. Koppa Ouroboros: The Koppa Ouroboros is the sign used by the Phlegm Empyreans and depicts a serpent devouring its own tail. The Koppa symbolizes self-doubt, internalizing contemplation, unending queries, eternal life and delving deeper into mysteries. The Phlegm understand emotions, reactions and motives better than any other Alignment, but as sensitive as they are, other Empyreans hurting their feelings is not a large concern as the Phlegm are a far greater threat to themselves because of their bad habits of doubting, second-guessing, suspiciouns, jealousy, depression and inferiority complexes. The Koppa shows a serpent that survives by devouring its own tail, and so never grows and never shinks, but remains the same through equal sacrifice. The Koppa is a key symbol for alchemy and ritual magic, for both its balanced proportions and its connotations. All Phlegm Aligned Empyreans will wear their Koppa Ouroboros as a sign of pride somewhere on their person at all times, whether it be emblazoned on a possession they are never without, emroidered or fastened onto clothing, tattooed into flesh or dyed into fur, it must always be worn and visible. Often Phlegm are best suited to the Academic or Journeyman Orientations as it allows them to focus on people, their key interest, whether it be remaining level two in the city working in the more mundane shops as cooks, tailors, shoemakers, bookbinders or the like, the Phlegm tend to lag behind in their own personal skills not out of lack of ability but out of concern for making their friends look/do well.

Orientations are the basic body type that the Empyrean has. This included not only physical stature and capacity for growth, but also emotional quotient and intellectual capacity. Orientations are roughly broken down into three categories. JourneymanJourneymen Empyreans are medium in physical, they need to work hard to get a muscular build, but are naturally very fit. They are decently intelligent and reasonably aligned with emotions, but tend to be in the middle of the pack. Journeymen have the ability to breach the barriers between classifications, orientations and Alignments and explain things to either side in terms they can understand. While the Journeymen do not have a distinct position of their own, they are often needed to balance out the scales, take sides of interperet for Outsiders, or clashing parties. Academic Academics are thin and waifish - sometimes bordering on underweight or skinny. They have slow metabolisms and don't need to eat very much. They tire easily when they exert themselves and have a very hard time putting on muscle. Because of their light size they can be quite quick if they train to be. Academics are brilliant in the mind, and this enables them to excell at magics and learned information. They have great memories and great analytical skills, but have a difficult time understand things from a perspective of feeling. They often consider emotions to be excessive, irrational or baffling, and prefer to deal in terms of fact or fiction, not that watery in-between substance of emotions. KinestheticKinesthetic are strong, with great stamina and a high metabolism. They put on muscle quickly and easily, and never seem to need to work out to keep their tone. They grow restless easily and need to keep active. Intellectual pursuits bore them, and they have a very difficult time paying attention or maintaining interest. While they don't understand deep thinking, they do feel a great deal, and react on impulse more that act of logic. They do as they feel to satisfy their needs, there is no why only a must. Although it would take years to explain a concept or a skill to them in rhetoric alone, they learn very quickly if they are simply shown.

The colours you may choose for your additions must be among the listed for your Alignment. If there is a colour that is not listed, request and I will determine where it lies. Clothing colours can be anything your little heart desires, but these requests have to be made. You can request different styles of clothing, such as shorts instead of pants, a longer skirt, a jacket or whatever. But don't request specific items, such as a hoodie...because the clothing must remain in the bounds of Empyrean fashion. There are 10 Types of Additions. While some refer to these as the Elemental Disposition of Essence, it is simpler to put it in terms of Animals. If you like, each type creates one set. If you were to take all of the Additions of one type (or mostly from that one) when you have fully developed, the type of Empyrean you are would be determined by the types of Additions you have grown. For instance, Paxar is a Draconic Empyrean. The TypesCanine - The Canine type includes features that are fox-like or dog-like. Canine features cannot be coupled with spotted or striped patterns, but do couple with tonal changes, such as the Angelic Mane or Demonic Mane. Feline - The Feline type includes features that are cat-like, lion-like, tiger-like and leopard-like. This allows spots, stripes and tonal hues. Draconic - The Draconic type includes two varieties, the Western Dragon, full of plated scales and spikes, and the Eastern Dragon, long and sinewy scales and fur. You will have to select which option for Draconic Additions. Draconic also includes Draconism, which overrides all other additions and sets your type as a Draconic Empyrean. Angelic - The Angelic type includes all the feathery additions, and can be upgraded from any other type. The Angelic tonal change is a soft blending from one colour to another, such as from yellow to red. This can be between two or three colours. Demonic - The Demonic type includes all of the leather-wing additions, and can be upgraded from any other type. The Demonic tonal change is a stark mix of two or three colours, where the borders between the colours are solid and the two do not mix. In hair, this appears as colour-chunked hair. Aqueous - The Aqueous type includes all the fish-like additions. They work with scales, stripes, spots and Angelic tonal changes. Equestrian - The Equestrian type includes all the additions that are horse-like, including the spots and stripes that are not on a base of fur like the Feline patterns. Includes Equestrianism. Caprian - The Caprian type includes all the goat-like additions and works with all tonal changes. Tauran - The Tauran type includes all the cow or bull-like additions. Includes Tauranism. Felis - The Felis includes all additions that are either not specifically of one beast, are purely essence derived, or are single additions that fall into no animal-like category. The Felis can be mixed with any other type, and have the most consistent upgrades. Includes a few varieties of isms, such as Felis Serpentism and Felis Merfolkism... Some Definitions that might be helpful: Limited Additions:There are some Empyreans who have Additions of a less common sort. All Limited Edition Additions are caused by some sort of stimulus that left a lasting impression on the Empyrean, or the Empyrean's Essence. Generally these can only be attained through Special Events, such as Monthly Events or Dreaming Pool events. Some past examples of Limited Edition Additions: Eros Wing Tri-horn Addition Avian Crown Variations
