http://www.gamespot.com/news/6148864.html Anyone else hear about this one yet, or found anymore info on it? From what the article says, it sounds like it could be interesting. The whole 2D aspect calls to mind that race against Metal Sonic in Sonic CD...not necessarily a bad thing. Well, unless I've got the wrong idea....but it would be a refreshing change from the familiar typical behind-character camera angle of the genre.

I'm staying neutral, after reading this, this and this. It's only with something like Shadow - where I had serious and obvious issues with the content from the get-go - where I'll go in low and hard with the criticism. The graphics do look pretty. Providing it doesn't glitch as badly as the other 3D engines Sonic's used so far, it could be as much fun to hop around as the 3D Green Hill Zone in Sonic Jam. It seems to be PSP only, which means that this little GC owner doesn't have a stake anyway - but... MORE new characters?!?! *bangs head on desk* Can't Sonic Team either make use of the stock they've already got, or at least curb their third party designers and developers from dumping their own characters into the franchise as the electronic equivalent of "I woz 'ere" on the nearest wall?

I'm not gonna pass judgments on the new characters just yet, but I only have this to say. If they are gonna make new characters, at least use a species that hasn't been used so much or even at all. I mean another new hedgehog? e_e Even I say Shadow is enough. >.>
I would like to get my hands on Sonic Rivals, but...it looks like I won't be getting a PSP anytime soon. sad And I can only hope the next gen Sonic will also come to the Nintendo Revo---excuse me, *snort* Wii *snicker* like it should, no?

Azura Bladewright I would like to get my hands on Sonic Rivals, but...it looks like I won't be getting a PSP anytime soon. sad And I can only hope the next gen Sonic will also come to the Nintendo Revo---excuse me, *snort* Wii *snicker* like it should, no? I'm less than impressed with the fact that the franchise seems to be playing systems off against each other again, rather than bearing in mind that the target demographic's most likely still on a pocket money income and can't afford multiple consoles.

Those quills being sweapt back off the actual face like that (presumably in a desperate attempt not to crib the Sonic/Shadow head model wholesale) isn't doing anything for me, either.

While the premise of the gameplay is interesting to me (even though we've had it since Sonic 2), the fact that it's on the PSP kills any chance that I'll be getting it, as I won't buy it just for one game. Come ON, Sonic Team, pick a platform and stick with it. Also, the new hedgehog looks really lame to me. Maybe if his head had more quills like those forequills, but meh. And then there's the whole "ANOTHER friggin' hedgehog" thing. My bet is he's from the future or something. PUSH IT TO THE LIMIT! However, I AM getting even more interested in the console Sonic game. From the way that IGN article was pimpin' it, I really hope that doesn't turn out to be hype; it sounds like Sonic's actually going to be CONTROLLABLE. I hope they're saying that Sonic has a normal running speed and that you press or hold a button to make him do the high-speed stuff. Plus I'm glad the adventure fields ("town stages") will return, I liked them. As long as they're bigger and free-roaming and all that good crap, of course. EDIT: Sea-Salt Ice Cream Yes! Sonic Rivals, I heard the game would have only 4 characters or something. well, rather then wasting my money on a crappy PSP I think I'll just wait till Sonic (insert good graphics based word here) Collection comes out, which of course will have Nights as an unlockable.
now, on the next gen Sonic game, I like the fact that Sonic is getting called the "Iblis Trigger" since it means that Sonic's origins and such will be more explained, or at least I hope so, since Sonic himself is honestly one of the most mysterious characters in the Sonic series. He doesn't live anywhere, he's got no biological family, and he's got mysterious unexplained super powers that equal that of a bio-engineered creature. I want some explanations as to why Sonic and Shadow are so damn similar in skills! They never explained that.....
