I helped my dad install a solar-powered fan over the garage and a tankless water heater. We're using 1/3 less electricity than we used to! Have any of you guys done any home projects for the environment?

Ooo! That is SO cool! I wish I could get my mom to accept that kind of idea...She doesn't really care for the environment. cry

Well I had a plan for a Japanese garden outside my parents home. The plan was to instal a waterfall that is solar powered and recycle your own water. So far I have only found one that cycles through its own water but im looking into buying solar lights and and adapting the panels.

Oh hey I've seen those before!! They were in a park in Taiwan... 3nodding Which is kinda weird considering that generally Asia doesn't really know that much about environmental stuff....

It's more of an art for the asain people, rather than being environmental, plus it's also a tradition.

My family's too poor to make such drastic changes like that. But I do what I can, you know?

These are kind of stupid home projects, but since we're in an apartment we can't do much....

One thing we've done is hang heavy curtains on our windows. In the summer it stops the sunlight from heating up the apartment so much, and during the winter it provides extra insulation to keep the apartment warm.

We've also rearranged the furniture to provide better air-flow so that the heating/cooling system doesn't have to use as much electricity or gas to heat/cool the apartment.

Also, during the winter we unhook the outside vent from the dryer so that the dryer blows its air into the house; that way the hot air stays inside to help heat the house (though the lint can get onto things, but that's not a big deal to me).

Those are some cool ideas!
