Tree huggers UNITE! Welcome to treeSHADOWS, the first Gaian guild centralized on the environment, where naturalists can discuss, suggest solutions, and complain ( xd ) about the conservation of nature. Goals -Meet and converse with people of similar interests and values. -Make Internet friends and be supportive of each other and our efforts to preserve the planet. -Share interesting experiences that involve a love of nature. -Educate each other about preservation and nature. -Share environmental news about current ideas and events around the world. -Generate ideas of how each of us could make a difference, no matter how small, by how we lead our lives. -Identify products and practices that put our environment at risk. -Identify politicians and groups that support environmental protection and those that do not. -Cautiously share the importance of preserving the planet with those who have not given it much thought. -Show others that nature lovers are not fanatical nuts. -Give nature a little help. smile Rules 1. Please type, spell, and use colors and sizes as legible as possible. I understand that some of us just can't spell very well, but please try your hardest and use IM language as mildly as possible. 2. Be courteous to others. If you disagree with someone on something, please be constructive and polite. 3. Swearing is only to a minimum. 4. Keep the guild active. 5. Love nature and/or be willing to learn about it. 6. Follow Gaia's guild rules and TOS. 7. Follow these rules. Penalties 1. You will be PMed and asked to stop any violation of the rules. 2. If you continue to disobey the rules, a second PM will act as a reminder. 3. Any further violation will get you booted off this guild. Yes, it's strict, but it really would be nice to have a...well, nice guild. Days of the Week (DotW) Sun.--Contact Congress Let your congressmen know how you feel about the environment! Offer solutions to problems and thank them for doing something good for nature. Mon.--Save energy Get flourescent light bulbs, turn off the lights in an empty room, don't use hot water...There are many simple things you can do to save energy! Tues.--Save water Don't leave water running and don't spend too much time in the shower. Wed.--Educate yourself Go on a search engine and search for an environmental site (or read some of the guild's topics, there are plenty strewn about in our forum). Educate yourself about what's going on in the world around you and how YOU can stop or prevent a problem. Thurs.--Educate others Now that you know how you can help nature and why you want to do it, spread the word! The more people there are helping the environment, the better the chance of making a huge difference. biggrin Fri.--Pick up litter That's pretty self-explanitory. Animals sometimes mistake garbage just lying on the ground for food, and they end up eating a wrapper of some sort or something. NOT HEALTHY. NOT EDIBLE. So all you gotta do is pick litter whenever you see any! Easy enough? Sat.--Reuse, Reduce, Recycle! Woohoo! It's the three Rs!! Reuse items (shopping bags, for example), reduce by buying things with less packaging, and recycle anything that IS recycable!! (Is that even a word?) Here's a short list of recycable things: paper, plastic (types #1 and #2; you can find out what kind of plastic something has by looking for the lil triangle recycling sign; inside that triangle will be a number. That number is the kind of plastic the item is made out of), aluminum cans (e.g. soda cans), glass, cardboard, envelopes (with or without the window thing)...The list goes on and on! More banners
