I've recently observed a larger amount of jackassedness in the world. On Xbox Live, no matter what game I play, it's always "You're horrible! Quit life!" no matter if I get more kills/points than them or not. As long as they're on the winning side, they're better at life. But it doesn't only happen on Xbox. Oh no, far from it.
School. From getting better grades, to getting a better conduct report, someone always has to be better. And when they are, they let everyone know it. When some one is struggling, instead of helping them, they mock them and want them to do worse. Even in religion! People say they're better than be because they're Catholic, and kids from around my neighborhood say they're better because they're Atheist.
Even here! I cannot enter a single forum without seeing someone getting put down. "Your poetry is bad. Mine's gooder. I win the inter webz." "You don't spell out all of your words and I do, I'm better." "You're Conservative, kill yourself." "You can't argue your point, I'm better than you at everything." Etc. etc. It's really getting under my skin. Why do people feel the need to be "superior"?
Discuss: Anyone every try to put you down because they were better at a certain thing?
Are you one of those people?
Why do people do this?
Anything else related to the subject.

Well the basis for most competition is to try and gain a feeling of importance over the person you're up againest. and it's an extremely wide spread tradition, so all corners of the globe do it in some form, or fashion. The ones that are only human will take those feelings, and shove them into the losers face. The ones above primal instinct will congradulate the opponent, win or lose. *I have ran into both breeeds in my lifetime, and I would like to consider myself closer to the latter one*

I usually jokingly say I'm so cool and will congradulate others for their success. I think it's because everyone seems to need self-assurance.
