Well, I didn't see any threads already talking about choir trips so I figured I'd start one.

Well, our high school choir (11th-12th graders) always takes a big trip every two years so that everyone has a chance to go and we're not taking one every year. Well, for my sister's Junior year, the choir went to Honolulu and so my mom and I went with the choir. It was so awesome there. I enjoyed myself a lot, even though I wish I could have been performing too.

This past summer, the mid-high and high school choirs(9th-12th graders) along with the city's choral society took a trip to NYC. Wow it was so awesome. I miss it too. I love the feel of the city, but it's sad cuz you almost never see the sky. lol. And actually, the only place that was really crowded in New York was like in Time Square and during the parade they had. Man... New York gets biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig messes from parades... I actually have pictures after it too. lol. But ya, the choir got stay in the Hyatt hotel which is like right across from the Crysler(sp?) building. And our big performance was in Carnegie Hall, but I forgot which Mozart movements we did... I have the music still at home. That was such a great experience though.

And we've also heard rumors that the choir is supposed to go to Hawaii again next summer, I'm crossing my fingers for it!

Anyone else take big choir trips or anything?

My junior year in high school my choir toured England and Wales for 10 days. That was pretty awesome.

This year my college choir spent 4 days touring western North Carolina. Next year I think McConnel wants to go farther North, DC and such. We'd like to go to New York, but we'd have to go over our spring break, and there are a lot of people who aren't willing to give up their breaks. So we'll probably only get to go up to DC, but that'll still be fun.

That's the exact same trip that my chamber choir was invited to go on when I was in high school. smile We stayed at the same hotel even! The piece we sang was Mozart's "Vesperes Solemnes" which was one of three works done by the choirs. They also performed the Requiem Mass and Morton Lauridsen's "Lux Aeterna" 3nodding

My school's concert choir went on a trip with our band to Toronto for a competition.

I haven't gone on one yet, but I will in two years.

That's funny. Our choir does the same thing (though it's every other year because another choir goes (Overtones) when Concert choir doesn't. We went to Hawaii and stayed near Waikiki...and competed (we won, too), and went sight-seeing and all that stuff. Too bad it rained quite a bit.

My college choir aparently does a big trip every other year.

I joined in an "off" year.

If I'm in next year, I'll go on a big trip. I hope.

The 8th Grade Concert Choir (the one I`m in) at my school recently went to Sandusky, Ohio for the "Music in the Parks" competition, where we stole first place in the middle school devision.
We went to Cedar Point afterwards.
^.^
It`s so funny hearing my soprano friends scream bloody murder on the Gemini (but the other people on the ride didn`t think so).

Ah, lucky.
We had to pay for our tickets, as well as pretty much everything, and give the money to my choir director.
Reason I asked is because I live so close to Six Flags St. Louis that I go with my friends on a regular basis. It`s how we spend a lot of our summer every year.
