This will sound weird. But, why would you wish to be married on Gaia? sweatdrop I'm not slandering it, I'm just curious because a few of my friends have done it and I see people advertising that they do wedding cermony on Gaia.
So basically...
question What is a Gaia wedding?
question Why do a Gaia Wedding?
question What's in it for you and your "partner" ?

If you and your partner are RP'ers, many time it is used to deepen the plot, make the characters become more intwined with one another, or just add something new to the mix. Otherwise, it's just a different way to say "I really really really really really really like you. eek " 3nodding

Generally I see no point, either. However me and my IRL fiance thought, "Why not marry our characters, too?" I mean, in our RP backstories they're married, but we thought it'd be cute to get our avatars hitched, so to speak.
Course, when total strangers who've never done more than chat on Gaia get married, I get slightly concerned.

Having performed a Gaian marriage or two, including my own using another account....I would have to agree with the people here.
1) it is a RP thing that helps with the storyline
2) it is a thing you do if you know someone well and like to RP with them
3) it is a bf/gf thing where you get to play married before you do the real thing.
For me it was all 3. Occasionaly the bf and I come on here and play married. It's fun...it's sweet. Unfortunately though our other characters...aren't dating anymore. They broke up... sad lol But no, Gaian marriage, like real marriage, isn't for the faint of heart. You have to really like that person and like RPing with them for it to work.

i believe its a bunch of people that cant get married in real life so they get married on gaia
i think its stupid

I'm not big on it but hey, whatever floats your boat, right? I used to do the dating thing during my pre-Gaia days but I never saw the point of marrying online when you can cheat on one another simply by changing your screen name. Of course my opinon's a bit biased since I'm not for real marrage anyway...How does Gaian divorces work? Does she get half her ex husband's inventory if she has a real good Gaian lawyer? Who gets custody of the kids(roleplayed or NPCs)?
I know quite a few people who cyber that have active sex lives. I'm not one of them but I'm not in any rush either. *shrugs* Some people just like cybering roleplays over the other types out there.

I totally agree. I was going to do the RP marriage thing because it deepend the plot and also it was with my Gaia bf, but like Jinarri said, it's not something you just do. We technically aren't togetherf anymore but our characters are. As for people doing it as if it were a real wedding..that's just peculiar. sweatdrop

me and my buhdeh from skewl, tessa reguse are getting married on gaia. we're a coupla bismexual hoes who want presents. xd I call her my wifebund.... she's already gaia engaged too... that, and I've already got a wonderful bf irl who I'd totally marry if he was on gaia. heart whee call me mrs. stewart-cole-reguse-nowacewski!
