heart It was indeed a baby girl heart April 18th 4:45pm 8 lbs 12 ozs 20 inches tall
*hopes this post is at least semi-coherent* This was a totally different experience from how thing went last time around. We went to the hospital on Monday night to start the induction. They used a ripening agent (my cervix was not ready-50% effaced and nothing). When the time came that the third dose could be administered I was finally a 2 and they told me that the third dose could not be administered at that point. I made no more progress after that. About 7:30 in the morning my OB came in and broke my water (that's when they listed labor as having started). Still no real progress-I had mild contractions though. So they started me on pitocin. I made it for 5 or 6 hours on the pit, then the contractions came so fast and strong that I couldn't take it; I asked for an epidural. 40 LONG and painful minutes later my OB came back in to check on me, and I told her I'd asked for an epidural 40 minutes ago... She stopped the pit and the anesthesiologist was finally tracked down. About and hour after I'd asked for it I finally had an epidural. Pit is awful stuff! Once the epidural was working they started the pit again. It was so odd having my legs asleep, and having them tell me when to push. This may sound crazy, but if I have the choice (and am NOT started on pit) I actually would prefer to go unmedicated with future births, but I know I can't do it if I'm pit induced. Oddly enough I feel better at this point post-partum than I recall feeling after last time.

Pinkee anarchy_munkey *shutters at the thought of an epidural* Why? eek I can't stand needles (though if you ever saw me you'd think other wise. I have piercings and tattoos and quite a few of eah.) and the thought of one going into my back sends chills though my spine. I'm planning on not having any pain meds though labor.
I guess I have a type of needle phobia becouse of my older sister. She had Hepatice C (SP?) and seeing her hooked up to the machines and all thouse IV's yah it's scarry.

Thanks everyone. I'm still not up to much time at the computer, but I managed to sneak online while I'm eating some food.

I'm deathly afraid of an epidural, too! Needles in the back - ick! gonk You can make it without pain meds, it is possible! (not to make anyone feel bad if they opted for them - I had nubein with my first labor!) I made it through the last two without any meds. What makes the pain really difficult to get through is if your water breaks (there's no cushion there to help with the pain) or if they give you pitocin. Pitocin contractions are the worst! They can make you feel like you're having the really heavy contractions pretty early. (that's why I had nubein with my first labor). I really feel for you, Jenannen! I do want to congratulate you as well! Good luck, anarchy_munkey! If you do have problems and you need pain meds, I would like to suggest nubein. Granted, you do have to deal with an IV, but at least there's no needle in your back! xd

Yay! Hugs all 'round! Congratulations, you guys! I am sorry to hear about the pitocin. It is a monster, by all accounts, but it does get the job done. I got through delivery #1 completely drug-free, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for #2 as well. And congrats to the wee girl herself for all that growing! I know I'm impressed. I'm pretty sure most babies actually *lose* a few ounces by their two-week checkup.

We took the baby in for her two month check up on Wednesday. She's 24 and one eighth inches tall and 13 lbs 6 ozs. 95th percentile on both measurements. The doctor was impressed with how well she has her head already. ^_^
It's funny how quickly, yet how slowly time goes by when they're this little.

Two nights ago she started rolling onto her tummy all by herself. ^_^ She's not sure what to do when she gets there, but she's proud of herself for being able to roll over.
