Diru is too amazing -- They're definitely my favorite. No other band plays like them.

But I always listen to J-Rock and I wanna listen to something new.

Anyone have any ideas on any English bands that sound like Dir en Grey?

I have to agree. The closest you're going to get is Japanese bands that speak some english in their songs (which Diru does in some cases), but I really haven't found anyone that's in english who sounds like them xP

Well I know this really awesome band Rammstein, but they're German. sweatdrop

There's Children Of Bodom... but the only awesome song that is awesome by them is one called "Six Pounder". That's a great song. It sounds a lot like "Byou [] Shin". Sort of. ninja

My sister, who is an awesome "punk rocker" of sorts, likes Mudvayne and KoRn and... Slipknot or something. But I don't really like them...

I guess there really is nothing like Dir en Grey.

Rammstein... they're more industrial, I'd say... but it's good to meet somebody who has heard of both Rammstein and Dir En Grey.

Besides Rammstein I haven't heard much non-japanese music that reminds me of Dir en grey.

I don't know, I listen to a ton of American music these days but lesser known bands that my friends suggest, and I can't say that any of it sounds Dir en grey-ish.

It's hard to say, since I listen to all kinds of music except rap and country (even though Dir en Grey is my favorite), it really just depends on what types and qualities you like of and in Dir en Grey songs.

Its like being in a little club with only a few members, if they became mainstream..itd take that away. Y'know when emos are all 'i like them becuase they are dark and depressing and they have problems like my made-up problems, theyre cool and i like the way they are so not at all like me becuase im a poser-whore emo kid, who should die ' D< damn you to hell, thats not the point! This guy i know is like that with Malice Mizer, hes all 'my emo firneds listen to them, i love them even though ive only heard one song, beast of blood is so cool, i like it becuase the title sounds cool? yeah im a poser, and i suck a** its cool' D<

Yeah, same here. I absolutely love the fact to hell that I have their albums but I hate just as much that they're so mainstream. Especially when those f-ing fan-poser-want-to-bes are all "I love Dir en Grey!"

"No way!? You listen to Dir en Grey!?"
"You like DeG too?"
"Who is DeG? I'm Talking about Dir en Grey..."
I was litterally about to rip that bitc...'s head off!

Last year:
"I love Diru! Especially their song Ain't Afraid to Die!"
"Really? Thats cool. Whats your favorite lyric off of it?"
"What do you mean lyric? I don't know what they're saying."

Yeah... Pisses me off... a lot. I'm sorry, I think I'm just a bit too obsessive. But really, come on. You can't say you like Dir en grey if you don't know what DeG means, or Diru in that matter. As well as you can't say you like the song if you don't know what they're ******** saying! >.<
