Okay, these have an actual name, but I forget what it is. All I know is that I learned this recipe from V For Vendetta, so my family just calls them Vendetta eggs xp

edit: "Eggs in a basket," apparently

You will need
a frying pan
a spatula

Ingredients
1 slice bread of your choice
1 medium eggs
butter or margarine

Instructions
  • put frying pan over heat
  • remove a portion from center of bread*
  • add butter to pan, enough to coat bottom once melted
  • add bread to pan
  • add egg into hole in bread
  • break yolk (optional)
  • allow to cook until egg seems solid about halfway up
  • flip egg & bread
  • allow to cook for approximately same length of time as prior to flipping
  • remove from pan; eat & enjoy!

*Removing too much bread will make it difficult to flip over while cooking. Removing too little will result in egg whites leaking out across and off the bread. If you're unsure whether the hole is big enough, it's best to err on the smaller side, for the sake of convenience.

Butter can be replaced with cooking spray.
Salt and/or pepper can be added prior to flipping.
Undercooking your eggs can increase your risk of food-borne illness.

I've been eating that since I was a child -- I've heard it called both a Toad in a Hole, and a Bird's Nest.
