Hobbies:Home Improvement - Nic enjoys hands-on activities and has found an outlet in home improvement. He’s made his own home both comfortable and functional and has been known to extend the same favor to others without accepting much in return. He has repaired and replaced flooring, built cabinetry, knocked down walls, built walls, remodeled kitchens, installed sky lights, and made minor cosmetic changes by painting and replacing fixtures. No job is too big or too small for his interests. He’s done some landscaping, too, and can often be found around the neighborhood on his days off, toiling away at one project or another for his neighbors. Get him the materials and he’ll get the job done.
Cooking - Nic likes food. His enjoyment of consuming it has led to his interest in preparing it. Cooking has offered him quality time with his son and provides him something to do for others when he lacks ideas for gifts or methods of showing his appreciation. Whether he’s making a holiday feast or baking treats for his son's friends, cooking can be both a creative and a methodical process, which Nic appreciates in any activity.
Firearms - Nic grew up hunting with his father and family friends and developed a respect and an appreciation for firearms as a result. In Destiny City, where odd things happen with startling frequency and too many bad things tend to happen to too many good people, one can never be too careful in regards to safety. Nic is a disciplined gun owner and never flippant about the dangers; he also happens to enjoy the sense of power and security a firearm provides. He can occasionally be found at the shooting range and continues to hunt with friends to this day, though much less frequently than he used to.
Virtues: Industrious - Nic is diligent and hard working. He is persistent. He’s never faced a problem he hasn’t been able to solve, though the solution itself may not always be ideal. Nic isn’t afraid to make a few sacrifices to reach a desired outcome, so long as the sacrifice in question affects him and him alone. While he can never claim to have a positive attitude, he does tackle issues head on with courage and conviction. Nic has found purpose in being productive and in offering help to those around them. He wants to be known for his tenacity and his unrelenting resolve.
Practical - Nic is a man firmly grounded in reality. He doesn’t cater to fantasies or lose himself to what-ifs. Idealism is a danger he hasn’t been able to afford for a long time. He prefers facts to theories and has a very pragmatic approach to life. He likes to think of himself as reasonable, rational, and down-to-Earth. Nic has sound judgment and a penchant for straightforewardness. His practicality allows him to be reliable in all aspects of his life.
Flaws: Aloof - Nic can be difficult to get to know. While he willingly shares his time and resources, he isn’t one to share the more private aspects of his life. He can seem distant and detached from others, sometimes even cold. Nic doesn’t enjoy vulnerability and does whatever he can to avoid expressing it. Once someone gets to know him they will find someone solitary but warm, but getting there can take time and effort others may not have to give. He isn’t the type to open up and is reserved with his affections, which has caused misunderstandings in the past. Trust can be difficult to build when the one you’re building it with has a tendency to close himself off.
Critical - Nic can be a bit of a critic. He has been known to give his opinion even when it hasn’t been asked for and rarely bothers to sugarcoat. He knows his own flaws very well and tends to look for them in others. Often he seems to have high standards, many of them unspoken and rarely compromised. Nic can seem bitter and dismissive without trying. Those who are sensitive to judgment from others might find Nic demanding and difficult to please.
