The night air was a little cool on her skin and the cadet shivered as she slung her bag of fresh produce over her shoulder in preparation to head back to the dwelling that she shared with those other members of the Vanguard. Ever since everyone had come back safe from battling with the Calamitous Hollow had Lysanna been frequenting her little safe haven located deep in the woods. Her hands were still clutching the pair of dirty gardening gloves before she sighed. The garden had been virtually untouched which Lysanna took to mean that Cernunnos had not been around. The journal that she had left behind had disappeared and she still believed that the wayward senshi had found it and taken ownership of the item. At least that was what she had hoped. She really wanted to see how the other was faring.

Emerging from the woods, the cadet sighed before looking at the moon. Her gaze swept the empty streets and she hesitated and brushed her fingers across the button that would activate her glamour before simply ignoring the option to hide her true form. Instead the cadet moved closer to the edge of the tree line instead. She would, for the moment, at least activate her little GPS icon on her tech to warn her of anyone powered that would be nearby. There was no reason to hide, not really, but she was going to be safe, rather than sorry.

And there was, actually, someone quite nearby - but not anyone threatening.

Joy, having actually gotten a full day of sleep - something she had not allowed herself in quite some time - was enjoying the weather and doing a bit of her experimental "get your Order stink on a place" efforts to see if it yielded any fruit. But she, too, was suddenly aware that she was not alone - not because of any GPS or magical signature radar, but because she saw the ghostly figure in the shade of the tree line quite suddenly, the Valencyian having stepped out very near her.

She took a moment to register what she was seeing, now having been exposed enough to run down the list of possibilities.

"Oh," she called out, in as friendly a voice as she could muster as she approached. "Hello. Scared the hell out of me for a second there," she added cheerfully. "I didn't know you guys wandered around in the trees at night too, but maybe it's some sort of Destiny City brainrot that gets us all."

The cadet had been staring down at the little icon that had suddenly flashed into existence on her GPS screen before the voice came out of the encroaching darkness. Her reaction was instantaneously: she spun around and placed her hand over the axe that was still fastened to her hip. Lysanna let out a little expletive of surprise before pressing her lips closed. Swearing at a stranger was not proper even if the individual was just that, a stranger. Instead Lysanna took in the appearance of the woman as she sought to make a fair better impression on whomever this person might be. It was always better to show a friendlier side when meeting strangers.

"Oh, no. We probably don't all wander around the trees as such. I was just heading home after checking out something in the woods earlier," and here Lysanna pointed to the bag of fresh produce hanging at her side in explanation. "had to check if things were ready to harvest."

The fact that this stranger had met others like her had Lysanna curious enough to stick around instead of slinking back towards home and she lifted the bag from her side to over her head in order to hold it out as a visual explanation. Sticking her dirty gardening gloves into the open pocket that was still empty and waiting to be used for such a purpose did Lysanna place it on the ground. She would do her best to be friendly to this individual, even if she was a stranger. "Hope I didn't startle you too much though. It's not my intention to do so."

She looked vaguely startled at the way the stranger was speaking. She had somehow internalized the idea that Rhysi's cadence was a species-wide affectation and not simply a Rhysi-specific one. The conversation with Lyndin suddenly loomed much less ominous in her mind.

"Oh," she said, and she suddenly beamed with delight, dimples appearing in each cheek, as she stuck out a hand. Which she hadn't been going to do, until the gloves went away. "It's nice to be surprised sometimes, if the surprise isn't - like - a big cosmic demon creature or something." She hesitated. Introducing herself was still, after all this time, a little complicated to herself. "My name is Joy - Joyeuse Garde - Knight of Earth," she added, visibly uncomfortable with distributing the title but feeling, on the whole, that it might be polite given the circumstances. "I've met Rhysi - do you know her? I'm sorry; it's rude, maybe, to assume you all know each other - and she seemed like more of a geologist than a botanist."

Rhysi, Lysanna's lips curled upwards in a smile before she nodded in recognition of the name. "Yes, I know Rhysi. Most of our people reside in the same house. It does get a bit much at times."

Lysanna's gaze took in Joy's features as she reached forward to clasp the offered hand. "It's nice to meet you Joy. My name is Lysanna. As you've probably deduced already, since you have met Rhysi, I am of the same race that she is."

Although Lysanna hadn't met any knights it was still nice to be able to finally meet someone of that group of individuals. It meant that now she had most likely met all the strange groups of powered people that roamed Destiny City. "I am fond of gardening. I enjoy seeing the results of the hours of work I put into the cultivation of various plants finally take root in order to grow to a point in which I'm able to harvest them."

Figuring out that for the moment there was no need to be as wary as needed, Lysanna finally let down her guard. Her expression lightened and her posture shifted enough until she found a position that was relaxing in nature before she nodded, "We all have different talents I believe but we're all working towards the same goal."

The fact of the matter was that Lysanna still wasn't exactly sure what she was bringing to the table in terms of contributions, but she was at least trying to be helpful, even it meant being the one that was always tasked with running errands. The surprise of a block of free time had allowed her once again to slip out of the house in order to go check on things.

"It's a good goal," said Joy, with a smile that was a little gentler, a little grimmer. "Saving the world. Your own world. I think a lot of us - those senshi from space, and knights, especially - I think we're all out here trying to save our own worlds. It must be comforting to know you've got your team at your back, all working away at the same thing from different angles."

She hesitated. "I'm also glad you guys were around to help us save ours, a while back." It was more than she'd said to Rhysi, and it came closer to being a statement of gratitude than it had with Almadel, although it still wasn't quite gratitude and landed as more of a neutral observation. And then, with a return of dimples: "I imagine it does get to be a bit much." She thought of Rhysi and her eccentric singing and almost laughed. "No wonder you seized a chance for a nice quiet walk in the woods. And here I am, interrupting it. I should move on and let you enjoy the peace. I hope your harvest was good," she added.

Lysanna felt her lips twitch before she gave a soft laugh. The household did at times get too loud. The more people there, the louder it could get but also - if everyone was locked away with their projects - sometimes it was deathly quiet too. In the moment of silence that passed Lysanna almost missed the appreciation that Joy was expressing towards her people's efforts in helping out a while ago. "Oh, the shield we provided during that battle. I assume that is what you are referring to, right?"

As Joy inquired about her harvest Lysanna placed the bag on the ground before opening the main pouch and pulling out a few strawberries. Her gaze took in the dirt particles before she thought about washing them off and a bottle of water appeared in her hand later. "I have more berries still in the bag, but if you wanted some freshly picked strawberries, I'm willing to share these. I can even clean them off with the water I have with me."

There were more than just strawberries in her bag but Cernunnos had enjoyed these the most that she remembered from their meeting and she wondered if Joy would enjoy them as well. Lysanna removed a few more berries from the bag before she gently poured water over them. She was speaking as she tried to remove all particles off the surface of the berries as she worked,"I wasn't made aware that we had the means to create such a shielding device for the battle. I was particularly surprised when it was revealed we had that sort of technology at our disposal."

"Oh," she said again, with pleasure. Receiving random gifts from strangers was exactly the sort of thing that Joy felt ought to happen to her on a regular basis, if the world had any kind of justice in it at all: homages in general to her grandeur fitted into her worldview. "How lovely. Thank you. I love strawberries."

She basked in the pleasure of letting the stranger continue her diligent work as she spoke. "I'm surprised," she remarked. "Not about the strawberries - about the shield, I mean. I know we never communicate anything to each other, but I figured it'd be different for y'all. Like - more military. Debriefs and things. But I guess every military has its classified technology too."

Having washed off a few of the berries she had been holding Lysanna gamely offered up two of them for Joy to take if she so wished to do so (though given the expressed emotions, she knew they'd be accepted). Her gaze went back to the bag before she stood and gamely bit into a third berry in her free hand before she gave a sound of satisfaction at the taste. Perfectly ripe.

As soon as she swallowed the cadet tilted her head to the side before studying Joy a little more closely. "We have debriefs, but usually it happens after the event in question. Sometimes the Commodore shares intel with us but at other times he can be secretive. I've been around on your planet only as long as Rhysi has so I'm still learning the ins and outs of things. I'm not sure how the chain of command works except that some of the original group are higher in rank than others are."

She wrinkled her nose, her expression of pleasure at the unexpected treat being as delicious as hoped for giving way to one of disgust, not for the strawberry, but for what she was hearing.

"Everyone's allergic to sharing information, apparently," she said drily. "I'm surprised to hear it. But I'll keep it in mind. I've been waiting to speak to your Commodore, but maybe I'll prepare myself in case he's feeling even more secretive to me than he is to his own troops."

She polished off the second strawberry with relish. "Thank you for the gift," she said, with the graciousness of a queen acknowledging a mandatory homage. "Wasn't expecting to meet anyone, let alone get free food at it. Sometimes the surprises really are nice."

"I'm glad you enjoyed the gift. It gives me joy," here Lysanna gave the knight a sly grin before she added, "pun intended." Though the topic quickly shifted to something more serious. "I think it's a common trait unfortunately that we all tend to be rather elusive when it comes to the sharing of information. I mean given the common threat to Earth we all managed to come together but it's going to be hard if that's the only time that information is shared."

At hearing that the knight intended to meet with Lyndin she hid the surprise from her face as she fastened the bottle cap back onto the bottle with deliberate slowness. Was there any advice that she could pass on to the knight? Placing the bottle back into the bag, carefully as to not squish any of her picked produce, did Lysanna straighten her posture, "I'm not sure if it's my place to say anything, but if you are to meet with the Commodore one on one, just be vigilant."

With that warning passed on, although Lysanna was sure that nothing would happen, she shouldered her bag once more as it looked like Joy was ready to depart as well. "It was nice meeting you Joyeuse Garde. I'm pleased to have finally met a knight."
