2025 Star Festival Prompt
Poultrygeist (15) : As Destiny City is a bustling metropolis, it’s not unexpected that there should be some strange animals running the streets. Sometimes it’s a tiger, sometimes a monkey, sometimes a chicken. Sometimes it’s something worse. Strange egg clusters have appeared in Destiny City’s parks and officials aren’t really sure what they are; these eggs have nothing inside of them. Though it’s an anomaly, they are chalking it up to teenaged pranks. However, they have advised to just leave the eggs as they are. Nobody wants to say why, but if you’re out late at night, you’ll find out. In the darkness, whispered between the sounds of the city: a guttural, rasping cluck. The creature stands on stilt-like legs, rooted to the ground with razor-sharp talons. It wears a cloak of long, oily feathers that drag on the ground with a sinister scraping. If you stare into the darkness, piercing red eyes stare back at you. That’s all it takes for a confrontation: a mangled bird, maybe a chicken in another life, comes barreling out at you. It stands easily as tall as a person, but the proportions are all wrong. The smell of sulfur follows it as it lunges, pecking and screaming and scratching as it attempts to chase you away. Maybe, from the nests full of empty eggs. The battles are fierce, but fleeting; it will viciously try to chase you away but the effects are always the same: at some point, the eggs are crushed. As always, there’s nothing inside of them, but with one final wail, the bird will vanish into a plume of foul smoke.

Note: If you choose to encounter one of these bird-like creatures, your character will recognize they are not youma. It is impossible to tell if it is a single entity or if there are many. The bird does not seem to understand or care to listen to human words. It will always disappear in a malodorous plume of smoke and leave nothing but a foul odor and a clutch of empty, broken eggs behind. This RP can be used as a battle requirement as long as there are two powered characters involved; you must be interacting with another player’s powered character. This does not count as the one youma battle per stage for growth so characters can still use an NPC youma battle as well as this one for growth purposes. This can only be used as a battle requirement once per character, but there is no limitation for how many times a player can use this prompt.

For lack of a better term, it really sucked being a Negaverse lieutenant. You hardly had anything to defend yourself with, and what you did have was usually broken or useless because you couldn’t really be trusted to wield anything truly dangerous. And in a place like Destiny City, if you couldn’t be some degree of dangerous, then a whole lot more became dangerous to you.

Forsterite had just been trying to investigate the curious egg clusters that had been seen around the city as her civilian self, Tress Gervene. She had hoped to do so when no one else was around to watch her so she could study them to her heart’s content; perhaps even take back a sample or two to test and maybe even experiment on. That was why she had waited until night to come alone to an egg cluster, thinking the authorities had only advised people to leave the eggs as they were for no better reason than the general fact that it was human nature to fear what one didn’t understand. Little did Tress know there was a legitimate cause for fear after all. At least not until it appeared to lock its crimson eyes with hers when it found her alone in the dark of the quiet, empty evening. That was when she had decided it was probably best to power up.

Not that powering up did her much good. She didn’t have much in the way of armor or a weapon, but she thought, perhaps, at least she could maybe call for help. Maybe. But who in the world could she call? As she glanced between the threat that approached and her communicator, she realized it had been so long since she’d last powered up that she couldn’t remember anyone from the Negaverse on whom she could have relied. She didn’t know who was close by, either. And would they resent her for bringing trouble? For not being able to take care of a single…whatever this thing was on her own, especially when she could sense that it wasn’t even a youma?

She had to at least try; for the sake of her dignity if nothing else. The only thing she had to use as a physical ‘weapon’ was a parachute harness without even a parachute attached to it. The creature was eyeing her as she backed up slowly, but she stumbled over something and almost tripped, catching herself before looking down. Her heel had caught on an Emerald Star Charm. Even that seemed more useful than her harness. Picking it up slowly, she gradually straightened back up, careful not to make any sudden movements as she waved the charm a little. She wanted to see if the bird-thing would be attracted by the metallic shine of the reflective object and its colorful parts. Unfortunately, all it seemed to do was make the avian creature mad since it screamed and charged at her.

Biting back a curse, Forsterite jumped out of the way and tucked the star charm into a pocket on the side of her leg for safe-keeping. It didn’t seem like a good idea to run, so she put up her fists, ready to try to punch the bird-beast in the face if it got too close again.

It did suck to be a Negaverse Lieutenant; Rakovanite would never argue otherwise. Most Generals- most everyone- must have agreed, because at no point in his Chaos career had he literally ever heard anyone encouraging Lieutenants to go out alone. There were enough Knights, Senshi, aliens out there who would take the opportunity to pick off (or convert...) a weak and confused enemy even without Destiny City's unique brand of seasonal occurrences.

It was those seasonal occurrences that brought him out. Most of them were harmless, and for all the years they'd been happening, as far as Rakovanite understood it, no one had discovered anything to do about them besides enjoy the pleasant ones and avoid the unpleasant ones. This year was not likely to be different. The 'unpleasant ones' needed to be monitored.

So even though Rakovanite didn't actively seek out Lieutenants who were wandering around by themselves while he was on patrol, if he happened across one that seemed to be playing around where they shouldn't, he wouldn't turn his back. It was of course, a great chore, a huge inconvenience. He did not enjoy getting involved in anyone else's business or clearing away anyone else's mess, but...

For this one, he felt the aura when it sparked to life, when someone powered up nearby enough that he could reroute to them easily. Rakovanite wasn't near the bulk of the city's festivities, but a few scattered individuals milled about. A few shop windows shone with light. No one who looked as if they'd take notice of him. If there had been any other Negaverse in the general vicinity, he probably would've ignored it. Alas, why would that be the case. He checked the time on his phone, adorned in a shiny green star charm. The window with which he wanted Rakovanite to exist was fairly narrow and rapidly closing. But in the interest of keeping those without better means to defend themselves alive...

He stepped toward the aura, letting the unique thread of Chaos string him along in a blind teleport that would simply take him closer to the aura. Near enough to see its source, but not so close as to be immediately identified, himself.

The woman at the root of it was alone. There was no one to drain, no enemies, no youma. Just the Lieutenant and...

And he didn't really know what sort of creature she had with her. Not something Rakovanite was familiar with, but also not something he was surprised by. It was hard to be surprised by anything this city might conjure up during the summer- or fall or winter. Or ever.

Rakovanite watched for only a moment, curious at the methods and situation. Long enough to see that the woman was going to fistfight an overgrown chicken. Not that he could blame her. What choice did she really have? It was anyone's guess if she could outrun the thing, she had no weapon to fight with. At least she'd made that decision: fight. And stuck to it. Another flicker of energy as he teleported again brought him immediately to her side. Nearer now, he spared a side-eyed glance to see her more fully, but nothing he could see helped him determine how able she was on this particular course of action.

"Are you very talented in hand-to-hand?" Rakovanite questioned, voice a low and quiet rumble undercutting the creature's high-pitched screams.
