2025 Star Festival Prompt The Fireflies (6) : In the warm summer nights, little glowing lights begin to bob and dart through the city. Fireflies are mating, so this isn't uncommon in itself; in the past few days you've probably seen hundreds of fireflies. What makes these lights so unique is that they seem to change color; you might see a blue one, a green one, a red one. They flicker randomly, and something just seems off with them. If you come into contact with one, you will find yourself with a strange electric jolt. They cannot be caught, and will flicker away if you pursue too aggressively. This isn't the first time they've appeared in Destiny City, but no one's been able to tell where they came from or where they're going. No matter how quickly you chase them, they always seem to disappear before you can find any answers. The unusually colorful fireflies reminded Sinope of the little pixies in stories, movies, and video games, like Tinker Bell from Peter Pan and Navi from The Legend of Zelda. Often, the pixies were so small that they just appeared as little balls of colored light, so it was easy to imagine the fireflies were the same thing when it was so dark and they were so tiny. It didn’t help that they were also flashing very strange colors for fireflies that night - almost like they wanted to get in on the Star Festival festivities.
What was more was that even as the Dark Mirror Senshi watched, some of them were changing different colors right before his eyes. That reminded him of how Tinker Bell would change bright red in the Disney movie when she was really angry. Could the fireflies have been changing color based on their emotions, too? He doubted it, but it was fun to think about nevertheless.
Curious, Sinope had tried to catch one or two in cupped hands, but the few times he’d actually thought he’d been successful, they seemed to disappear. They seemed to give him an unpleasant electric jolt when he actually came into contact with them. Were they some sort of creation of the Negaverse? A tiny type of youma posing as fireflies? Or were youma or chaotic energy or something else affecting them? It was hard to say. Regardless, he couldn’t help but be entranced by their beauty.Fiction1119 ((Please let me know if you’d like me to change anything!))

Kitomyx ((Your all good! Tho the statement loops back around rofl If I need to tweak anything just let me know ^_^ )) She had been told about how the city got some time. Strange events. Odd sounds and sights. The entire range of ‘spooky’ and ‘kooky’. Mara had just always taken the abnormal situations the city saw either at face value or as ‘fake news’ but that was now all in the past. Now she was part of it. One of those costumed people running around making a mess of the city. So when she had seen articles and even videos about the colored changing lights, the multicolored flickering fireflies, she decided to actually check them out. It wasn’t maybe the best idea to go alone but the dark haired woman made the decision anyway, knowing that if anything really truly went wrong, backup was only a message away. Besides, She mentally rationalized as she approached one of the areas with the colorful bugs, What was the worst that could happen? I die? Been there, did that… forgot to buy the t-shirt.The senshi slipped into the darkness of the park only to come up short when she saw, and finally sensed, another standing there playing with the glowing bugs. A senshi but not like her. Stronger yes but… different. She tried to pull up the information from the depths of her brain but wasn’t exactly finding the answer. Mara just knew that the male currently frolicking through the grass wasn’t ‘Order’ as far as she could tell. The real question was, was he a friend or foe? Would she really need to call for backup?

Sinope yelped at having been jolted yet again by another firefly he tried to catch with gloved hands. He thought it might have been easier to catch them powered up, but that was not the case. As he cried out, a Gold Star Charm fell from his clothes, so he quickly reached down and picked it up before looking back to the fireflies.
Just as he was watching the flickering little menaces get away from him, however, he sensed a pair of eyes on him and a chaotic energy signature that wasn’t a Dark Mirror Senshi’s. Curious but cautious, he whirled around to find a lovely young woman with long black hair and blue eyes dressed in a black senshi outfit that had light green, dark green, and gold accents. His hazel eyes widened in surprise, but she hadn’t attacked him yet, so that was something. She seemed to have an uncertain sort of demeanor, so he grinned his usual, boyish grin, put his star charm away once more, and raised a hand in greeting.
“Good evening,” he said, folding one arm in front of his waist and one arm at his back as he offered her a deep, sweeping, dramatic bow. When he straightened back up, there was a mischievous glint glittering in his speculative gaze, but it was playful rather than malicious. “I’m Sailor Sinope, Dark Mirror Senshi of Slyness. Can I help you?”
He wondered if she knew of his court or, if she did, what she thought of them, but from her seeming uncertainty, it didn’t seem so. Unless maybe she knew of them but just hadn’t recognized him as one. After all, he hadn’t been around in quite a few years and it took him some time to recognize exactly what she was as well. It was the dark voids of holes at her forehead and on her chest that finally made him realize the answer.

Well… he was polite at least, even if that bow was comical and mocking. Her blue eyes had narrowed as he pocketed something, taking in the dark colors and filmy fabric of his own uniform, and dear lord what was that hood, suspecting he was hiding something. Not knowing that it was just one of the silly little charms like the emerald one she had been given. The uniform was definitely not Order, since they seemed to enjoy bright colors. The suspicious eyes definitely slipped into a full frown when the senshi introduced himself. It wasn’t so much a frown of distaste or distrust but one of confusion. ‘Dark Mirror Senshi’ was a term she had heard before. One she had been given information on, but for the life of her she couldn’t come up with any answers right then. It was right there too, just out of her mental reach. “That depends,” She answered cautiously drifting closer but stopping well outside the normal range for a fight. “Friend or Foe?” Not that Mara expected a truthful answer. It was not logical for this ‘Sinope’ to answer truthfully. They did not know each other. They were not on the same ‘team’ as it were. Hell, he likely wasn’t even affiliated with the negaverse in any way, outside of the aura that was similar enough to her cousin, but just different enough that she was unsure. A small little flash of light right by the side of her face, had her flinching back and slapping at whatever it was only to hiss in shock and pain when a zap of electricity whipped up her arm. The lightning bug had just been at the wrong place and time when it decided to flash its special little blue light. Flickering to life just on the periphery of Mara’s vision. Close enough to startle, and a strange enough color for her to assume to be an attack of some sort. Going off this erroneous idea Mara reacted violently… by rushing towards the male, swinging a fist as hard as she could for his face. Might as well try to get him down and out as fast as possible if ‘foe’. No point in drawing out a fight especially since she wasn’t all that good at it yet.

Though of course the corrupt senshi had no reason to believe the Dark Mirror one would tell the truth, it was ironic that Sinope especially was very particular about being honest and never telling lies. Of course, that didn't mean he couldn't be deceptive, however, but since he hadn't had much experience with corrupt senshi, Sinope unfortunately didn't realize how bad an idea it was to give them reason to be suspicious or doubtful of anything. He barely had time to realize what had happened to trigger the Negaverse-aligned senshi before she rushed at him, causing him to jump backward in startled surprise.
Had he not been so used to people attacking him due to his power, he probably would have gotten hit by that first attack. However, since he was used to it, he managed to recognize the tell-tale signs of someone wanting to hit him and knew that a punch had been coming. Since the unknown lady had already apparently decided he was an enemy, he didn't see how using his power could make things much worse for him more than they had the chance of helping him by distracting her. Of course, pausing to perform the magical attack meant risking being unable to dodge her next physical one, but Sinope decided to take that chance.
"Sly Secret Steal," he muttered under his breath, locking eyes with the blue-eyed beauty and casting her an uneasy grin.Fiction1119 ((LOVE your post! Very clever way to start the battle! Also, SO sorry about how long it took me to respond, but if you'd still like to continue, I'll try to be faster from here on out! If you'd rather not, though, that's fine, too!))Sailor Scout Attack: Sly Secret Steal! Description: Sinope locks eyes with his target on the battlefield and casts them a knowing grin. If he is able to lock eyes with and grin at his target, this magic will cause the target to be seized by the unshakable feeling that Sinope knows something about them they really don't want him to know (whether or not he actually knows it). The player of the target can interpret as they see fit what their character thinks Sinope knows. Sinope does not necessarily know whatever it is, but his attack causes his target to think he does, which serves as an unnerving distraction during battle. This attack would be useless on a target who feels they have absolutely nothing to hide from Sinope. After the magic fades, the the target may still have suspicions, but the feeling that Sinope knows something they don't want him knowing is not as overwhelming or concerning. How the target character reacts to the feeling that Sinope's attack causes and what they may or may not decide to do about it is completely up to the target's player. While meant as a distraction, this ability may be used to draw focus from the target (for their attacks or anger or otherwise) to Sinope himself and away from his teammates or simply to keep his foes from being able to concentrate. • Type: Psychological • Target: 1 person Sinope aims for • Use: 3x per battle • Range: distance between Sinope's and his target's sight of each other • Duration: 25 seconds

Kitomyx It happens! and yes i would like to continue this ^_^ but i also know my tag isn't all that big so sorry about that <3 Also... sometimes people are willing to kill to keep their secrets so i figure that would be something that Sinope should learn sweatdrop Mara saw the grin and instantly knew that this little s**t knew. He knew about it all. She had no choice. Rather than break off her attack, or even leaving, she doubled down. She threw herself into a flurry of punches and kicks, ignoring the occasional zap when she hit one of the little colorful bugs. All she knew, all she was focused on, was bringing this strange senshi down. As viciously as possible. No one could know. No one alive at least. If anyone ever found out she was finished and that was something she could not, and would not, allow.

Fiction1119 ((No worries about the length! I always appreciate quality content over quantity anyway. Thanks so much for the response! And yes, hehehe, exposing secrets is pretty much what got Sinope's parents killed by a Negaverse agent sweatdrop )) Rather than distracting the corrupt senshi or even causing her to hesitate, Sinope's magic only seemed to make her more determined than ever to wipe the grin off his face. It vanished as suddenly as it appeared, but of course that didn't stop the assault since the attacker of course must have still assumed Sinope knew her secret. He considered using the super version of his magic for a moment - the one that made someone think that he would act upon his knowledge of their secret - but ultimately decided against it. She seemed determined enough to murder him as it was.
"Whoa, hey, wait - OW! I'm - yikes! - I'm not the enemy, here!" he tried to explain, putting up his palms in a show of surrender, but still backing away from her attacks in case she decided that wasn't enough. Luckily thanks to his knowledge of Krav Maga, he thought he could parry whatever punches and kicks she threw his way if he absolutely needed to, such as if they were life-threatening, but he really didn't want to if he didn't have to. Krav Maga itself could be rather violent and the last thing he wanted to do was give his opponent more fuel to stoke her blazing rage toward him.

Kitomyx Thats a fin from my side ^_^' and yeah, exposing secrets could do that especially with the negaverse Mara struck as hard and as often as she could. Most missed or were blocked, but there were a few that landed, at least as much as the little s**t was making pain noises. It was just a gradual slow down as the male backed even further up. She would have followed, continued to fight, if she wasn’t breathing like she had just run a marathon, or if her fuzzy brain was slowly clearing. He couldn’t know. No one knew. There were no records tied to her. No evidence. Only she knew. There had been no one and nothing to give her away so why did she think this man knew? Her eyes narrowed as several things raced through her head, none of them polite and absolutely none of them bode well for the other. It all culminated in the general vibe of ‘his annoyance would go away if she killed him’. Besides she knew that starseeds were very much prized so why not kill two birds with one stone, or in this case two annoyances FOR one stone. She was about to attack once more when flashing lights had her hesitate before snapping at the male, “you're lucky. Next time you won't be.” She wasn’t going to stick around to tangle with the cops so Mara left, rapidly disappearing into the night. She left without realizing that it was just lights and not sirens. It was just a patrol car driving past with their lights on. She could have taken care of the strange man with none the wiser. Luck really was on the other fighter’s side that way, whether it was good luck or bad that had yet to be seen.

Fiction1119 ((Awesome, thanks so much! Good battle!! heart )) If Sinope had known what the corrupt senshi had been thinking, he could have warned her that Dark Mirror Senshi, due to the mirror coating on their Sailor Crystal starseeds, probably couldn't be consumed for energy like Order senshi and civilians' starseeds could. At least...he didn't think so. As he had no way of knowing she had been considering stealing his starseed, however, he said nothing on the matter.
Just when he thought he might have had to start using what Krav Maga techniques he knew to defend himself, a series of red and blue strobing lights seemed to alarm his attacker. She told him he was lucky and that next time he wouldn't be before quickly making her departure. Sinope sighed heavily in relief and allowed himself a moment to catch his breath before turning and disappearing into the night in the opposite direction from the one his opponent had gone in. He wasn't about to approach another corrupt senshi any time soon; that was for sure. And if he did happen to end up running into another one in the future...hopefully it wouldn't be that one, at least.
