He carefully set the box down around the center of the school’s rooftop, just where his extensive red yarn came to a stop. Graham had taken perhaps too much care carrying it across the building and up the staircases for fear that it would activate and ruin the whole prank. While planning, plenty other ideas on what to leave up there came to mind, some too dull and others too far on the salacious end. This was a good middle ground and if he was lucky, the confetti would fall absolutely everywhere on his snow-haired friend. He couldn’t hold back a chuckle at what he imagined happening and was proud of how it all came together. On the top of the box was even a card beckoning the giftee to open it with the words ‘open me’ and a lip impression. He couldn’t leave his friend Luka entirely empty handed and that was why he also left some special dark chocolates in the box for when everything was said and done.

With the box securely sitting on the end of the yarn and ready for its recipient, the Shahitian Duke went back inside and down the stairs while laying more yarn down behind him. The way back to Luka’s room wasn’t a direct one and instead weaved down halls and even through an empty classroom. It wasn’t a great distance and in the end he had some left to spare. Graham reached into his jacket pocket once he got there and pulled out a wax-sealed envelope. He slipped the end of the yarn between the folds and secured it. Once slide under the door and into his room, he knocked loudly then made his way down the hall to where a large shadow was cast. Smoothly he angled his walk toward it, shifting his body into a flat and jagged black figure before ducking into the shadow completely. He wasn’t going to be able to see it all unfold but looked forward to catching a glimpse of the results.

The lovely late autumn day was sure to be a good one. It was starting to get the chill of winter in the air, and there was a freshness to the world that always made him happy. While he had wished he could have spent it out in his tent, he had been in desperate need of a shower. And a change of clothes. The pond was too cold to take a dip in, so returning to the confines of his room had been the only choice. Luka ran a towel over his damp hair as he wondered over what to do with his day, knowing he had to eventually meet up with his siblings for dinner. Their little meetup had started out as a way to get to know each other. Now, it was a routine he found himself looking forward to as the day wore on.

With his mind occupied with possible plans, he began to dress for another lazy day at Utopia. The sound of a knock and paper sliding over his floor pulled his focus as he buttoned up his pants, a snowy brow lifting at the sight of the letter. He tossed the towel he’d been using on his hair over a nearby chair before making his way over to the envelope. Who could be leaving him love notes at this hour? And was that…yarn? Curious, Luka lifted it up from the ground and had to swallow a laugh at the whole thing. There was only one person that would have gone this far, and he was more than a little interested in finding out what the man had up his sleeve.

”Starting early today, aren’t we?” He chuckled softly as he opened the letter, breaking the seal to pull out the paper inside. The simple request was easy enough, especially with the yarn that had been tucked into the envelope's fold. Luka tucked the letter into his back pocket before pulling open his door, stepping out to scan the hallway in front of his dorm. He found no one, but that didn’t surprise him. Graham was gifted with a bit more stealth than he was. How, the snowy haired man didn’t know, but he would let the other guy have his fun.

”Game on, Price! You won’t win this round!” He grinned at the emptiness of the hall before spinning around to go back into his room. He made quick work of pulling on an olive green button up and his boots, keeping it simple since mischief was afoot. Luka made sure to grab a dagger, just in case, then took off out of the room to follow the yarn. If his new buddy had gone this far to try and get him, it was only fair to go all out. Right?

As he walked through the halls of the academy, he began to wind the yarn around his hand to keep it from getting underfoot. The creator of this little expedition had put some serious thought into all of this to have him traipsing around the place as he was. Left, right, upstairs, down a hall a bit, and up more stairs. Where in the hell was this stupid thing taking him?! The longer he walked, the more confused he became. There was an end, right?

Just when he was about to give up, he found himself pushing open a door that led out onto the roof. The slap of cold air up here had him blinking a bit in surprise. Luka prayed to whatever gods were listening that the next part of this prank wasn’t going to end up with him jumping off the side of the building or something. Thankfully, the trail didn’t seem to head for the edge of the school. But, rather, a box. One that clearly told him to open it. Okay, this was definitely a trap.

”If something jumps out of this thing and attacks me, I swear to the Gods that I am going to kick your a**, Graham.” He grumbled the words under his breath, finishing the last leg of his expedition by coming to a stop before the box. Anxiety had him hesitating, his amber eyes scanning the area around him just in case the b*****d had decided to meet up for a front row seat to his embarrassment. He’d have done the same thing, so Luka knew better than to be surprised. Finding no one, however, seemed to make him feel worse. Which just had him cursing before tearing open the box, knowing it was better to get it over than to let it fester.

”God damn it!” The blast of confetti caught him in the face, forcing him back a step as the annoying sheets of paper rained down around him. He did his best to brush the nonsense from his face, looking around at the mess that had been made. ”Ooooh!! Marco is going to be PISSED! Well done, Price. Point for you this time.”

talking ★ thinking

His black figure was flat and up against the wall. While he couldn’t see exactly what was going on, He could hear the sound of an opening door followed by the voice of Viridian in the distance. Blast. Okay, maybe the ivory-haired man of beauty wasn’t dumb enough to think a secret admirer set all this up, but at least he could indulge in the consolation prize that came at the end! How he wanted to slip between the shadows to get closer and ask if he were so sure about that claim. For now, Graham stayed back, only walking out of the shadow with his usual representation when Luka turned the corner. He tucked his hands into his pockets and kept his steps light as he walked back up and toward the direction he originally came from. There was no rush to catch up.

He heard the door to the roof swing open and walked up the steps. Luka was honestly being a good sport about it. It was a good bit of walking and a whole skein of yarn, and he knew there wouldn’t be as many people that would be so patient.

“God damn it!”

And there it was. Graham pursed his lips as he held back a laugh and stepped onto the roof. There were still some pieces of confetti being pushed around by the wind and Graham flicked a piece of it off of his shirt. His shoulders shook and he looked down and away as he snickered at the sight of Luka standing in front of the torn box, on the roof of the school, living his best technicolor life. It was unfortunate he didn’t see everything happen in action, but it would make for a good mental image when the days felt rainy. ”Aren’t you glad it’s not glitter like it almost was!” The shorter white-haired man called out with another chuckle. Luka was right about Marco. This looked like a mess and the man was going to be just estatic! at the sight of it.

He made an exaggerated bow to Luka then looked at him with an amused, open mouth grin. ”Don’t leave me in the lead for too long Viridian. Unless you don’t think you can handle it!” Graham could say that he was looking forward to what he had in store, even if he knew his future self wouldn’t feel the same.

The sound of a familiar snicker at his back had him turning slowly, facing off with the culprit of the confetti massacre. Dude looked smug as hell. Luka was so looking forward to knocking that look off of his snooty little face. Grinning at the thought, he brushed a bit of the still raining paper from his chest and arched a brow at the man’s words. Oh gods, he was SO lucky he hadn’t gone with the glitter. Things would have ended up so much worse for him had he made such a crazy decision.

”You’re the one that should be glad, Price! Glitter is like sand. That s**t gets everywhere! As sexy as I am, I really don’t want to look like a hooker while I’m trying to get through the crazy a** classes they’ve got us going to here.” He laughed at the thought, knowing the puzzled looks his siblings would have surely given him if he’d come into class gleaming like a damn disco ball. The bow he was given earned the other man a round of applause, his own grin widening in response at the words that were tossed his way next.

”Oh, it’s on like Donkey Kong, my guy! I don’t want to hear you crying when I knock the crown from your head and become king of the pranks!” A quick flick of his wrist had water shooting from his fingers, the liquid destroying any remaining confetti that had decided to hang around. Luka made a point of snagging his chocolates before strolling past his opponent, clapping a hand on his shoulder companionably as he headed back to his room to plot.

~Three days later!~

It was taking everything in his power not to out right laugh at his rather brilliant plan to get back at Graham. He was going to have absolutely no one to blame but himself when the entire thing blew up in his pretty face. Just thinking about the look that was sure to be etched into the other man’s features had him snorting as he moved as quietly as he could through the halls. The last thing he wanted was to be caught carting around a box full of glitter and balloons he’d filled with water himself.

In the time between when he’d been confetti blasted and today, Luka had done some recon on his opponent. The other man worked almost like a damn clock, the old man that he apparently was. On this particular day, he knew Graham was out somewhere with the petite brunette he was usually with. It was the perfect moment to get into his dorm and enact his master plan. If all went off without a hitch, he’d have a very sparkly, very wet Duke Price seeking him out for retaliation. Just thinking about it had him snickering again as he turned a corner, the dorm in question not far from him.

Another quick scan told him he was alone, for the moment, and gave him the chance to set his box down. He fished a set of metal pieces from his pocket, one long and thin while the other shorter with a hook on the end. Luka made quick work of setting them into the lock on Graham’s door, working his own brand of streetrat magic to get the thing open in a jiff. Another cackle left his lips when the thing clicked, allowing him entrance into the other man’s secret sanctum.

Luka made sure to close the door behind him as he slipped inside, not at all surprised by what he found. Dude was too damn neat for his own good. Delighted that he’d chosen the prank to ruffle him up, he moved quickly to the dresser nearby and started with the bottom draw. He opened it easily, rearranging the clothing within to give him some room, then set about covering it all in glitter. The water balloons went in next, followed by a few strategically placed bits of metal. If the door was opened, the metal would meet the balloon and water would go everywhere. It was going to be an absolute mess! He secretly wished he could see it for himself, but he would wait for another time.

Continuing with his plan, he repeated the prank with the rest of the drawers. When he reached the top, he pulled out the last five balloons. Three were set up in the drawer, topped in glitter and set on a trio of springs that would launch them rather than rain water all over the clothing within. Once he was satisfied it would work, Luka turned and headed for the door. He situated the remaining two above the entrance, making it so the moment the door was opened they would fall upon his waiting victim. Giggles erupted from his lips at just how hilarious this was going to be, the sound nearly giving him away as he moved quickly to the window in Graham’s room. He unlocked it and slide the pane open, slipping out to wait for the moment his victim walked into the room.

talking thinking

At the time, Graham thought not much else of what he said to Luka about glitter, only that the fellow member of the white hair committee be grateful he got a face full of confetti instead of stripper sand. Little did he know that it would come back and bite him in the a** a few days later. The afternoon with his short Martian Princess went off without a hitch and was the primary thought in his mind when he turned the knob of his door to go into his dorm.

He felt the drop of not one but two water balloons on his head with a pop and a splash. Water went everywhere, and he stood just inside his dorm in silence as he felt water trickle down his skin and off of his ears and now clenched jaw. There was only one person responsible for this. “Viridian…”

Graham pulled his shirts off and used them to dry off his face and hair. So this was how Luka was getting back at him? Surely he had more in him than just a couple of water balloons…

He squinted his eyes and started to give his room a lookover, realization hitting him. The water balloons came from the inside. So maybe the man wasn’t off his game, even if it was at the cost of his purposefully curated space being tampered with. Gods, that actually got under his skin a little. So far, nothing seemed out of place. A more thorough sweep would be done, but first he needed a new shirt. Graham moved to the dresser to get a new one and opened the top drawer no differently than he did any other day.

Pop! Pop! Pop!

From the drawer shot out a plume of glitter and three water balloons that hit him in the face and chest, exploding on impact. He stood there with a slow blink, wet white hair stuck to his forehead and the edge of his face. The drawer in question looked like a crime scene of glitter over neatly folded shirts. Not only that, he was covered in the abominable stuff himself! He looked down at his chest and brought his fingers to his face. A pained wince escaped him and he wasn’t sure what to be most annoyed with first: The glitter in his clothes, or the fact that he was wet and could possibly be mistaken for some damned sparkly-a** vampire now!

“You little sneaky s**t, Luka! You better start sleeping with one eye open!” He groaned and started to dry himself off with his shirts again. Only some of the glitter was coming off and it seemed like the more he tried, the worse he was making it. “Just great, I’m going to be finding this crap for years...” He pushed the drawer shut, perhaps a little too hard.

There was another popping sound. More quiet, but distinct and sounded like it came from the drawer beneath it.

“... if there’s another water balloon…”Graham mumbled and started to open it. Then stopped mid-action to stand to one side of the dresser in case it was spring loaded too. He opened the drawer but to his surprise, no balloon went flying. To his dismay though, was another popping sound. And in the drawer were his socks, now wet and glittering before him. His brow twitched and let out a curse in Shahitian.

Unfortunately for Graham, the rest of his drawers met the same drowned and dazzling fate, no matter how hard he tried to open the drawers without popping the rest. He was going to have to get his clothes clean and as glitter free as he could before he lost his mind.

As much as he hated this, he had to admit it was a good prank. He knew a certain brunette was going to get a laugh out of this. “If you can hear me Viridian, so enjoy it while you can!”

Squatting beneath the window to Graham’s room, Luka did his best to remain silent as the squeak of hinges reached his ears. It’s showtime! The resounding splash of water crashing into his victim that followed had him covering his mouth with both of his hands. He had to stay as quiet as possible, not wanting to give himself away before the entire show went off. It grew even more difficult as the sound of his name being cursed reached his ears, his body curling into itself in an attempt to keep the amused sound locked within. He had to make it to the end!

Thankfully, the Fates were on his side today. It wasn’t long before footsteps began to creak across the floor towards where he was hidden. He probably should have found a better spot, but Luka had wanted a front row seat. And what better place than the window right next to his main event? Grinning now, he shifted a bit to look up over the window sill so he could watch. He really wanted to see if the effect came out the way it had in his head. If it did, he was definitely going to keep it for future use.

The curses that were thrown at him this go around had him dropping to the ground in a snickering, snorting heap. It was too freaking good! Graham was going to be finding that happy sand in every crevice for the rest of his life! There wasn’t going to be a day that he wasn’t sparkling like a disco ball and he would know exactly who had caused it. Oh, the elation racing through him was almost too much! Luka knew it wasn’t over, not by a long shot, but he was laying on his back in the grass staring up at the sky. He was in the lead now and it felt glorious!

At the sound of his name being yelled for a final time, he rolled over and pushed himself to his feet. A quick dust off was followed by his reopening of the window to Graham’s room. A bright grin had curled up his lips, giving him the look of the cat that had caught the canary. Smug, slightly gloating, and more than a little delighted by the shimmering scene that now stood before him. Oh man, it was better than he could have ever imagined!

”Oh, I intend to. It’s the gift that just keeps on giving, after all.” Amber eyes ran over the other man, soaked and sparkling, and he just couldn’t help himself. He doubled over laughing again, tears springing to his eyes as his lungs fought to breathe. When the muscles in his stomach began to spasm, he wrapped his arms around his torso and shook his head. Man, if only he could get someone to paint this for him! He’d hang it in his house as his most prized possession.

”Dude, I can’t even look at you right now! You look so freaking fantastic!” The words came out raspier than he had intended, still fighting with his laughter as he tried to wipe the mirth from his eyes. Looking over Graham had his body threatening to revolt again, so he looked around and took stock of the mess. Marco and the maids were going to be pissed! ”I’d love to stay and help clean up, but I have to go and think of the next way I’m going to get you back. Can’t wait to see how your little girlfriend likes your new look, Sir Sparkles!” With that said, he turned from the window and howled in laughter as he strolled off towards the trees.
