Name: Brangäne/Brangwaine Fletcher (brang-ay-nuh and bron-wine, respectively)

Nickname: Gwen

Gender/Pronoun: she/her

Age: ~1000ish, looks mid-twenties (but hard to place)

Birthday: Her people don't really keep track of that but she'll pick the day she comes to Earth again probably

School/Occupation: Couch surfing it up, as DSS are wont to do.

Hobbies:

Botany - With an amateur but passionate interest in the flora of every planet she can get her hands on, Brangwaine enjoys discovering what's growing around her. Her interests range from botanical drawing (her primary passion) to foraging for edible plants. She has never had a stable enough home life to try her hand at gardening, and so her tastes tend towards wild plants.

Cooking - The creation and consumption of delicious meals was a key part of her homeworld's culture, and it has instilled a love of the kitchen in her that remains powerful. She enjoys finding out what her friends love to eat and considers food both a love language and a powerful social lubricant.

Style - The greatest upside of arriving to what might as well be a whole new world? A whole new world of fashion and style awaits! While Brangwaine is more invested in style than fashion, she has an interest in both. A meticulous attention to outward appearance was a hallmark of her own culture.

Virtues:

Quick - Brangwaine adapts readily to new information and skills, picking up on new ideas with speed. She develops muscle memory for small tasks rapidly and can internalize large amounts of trivial information with relative ease - although only to an extent (see flaws).

Dedicated - Reliable doesn't even begin to describe Brangwaine. She takes her obligations seriously, and while she is not opposed to a white lie to grease the wheels of social functioning, her promise is always solid.

Sweet - With a gentleness that transcends mere manner and is in fact a bone-deep desire to make the world a better place in even the softest ways, Brangwaine is kind, self-sacrificing, and forgiving. She is quick to want to mend fences, quicker still to own up to her own mistakes, and often motivated by a need to help - at least those who are on her side of a conflict. Her idealization of peace, however, does not preclude her from being aware that sometimes the surest method of ensuring peace it is by being the first and the best to strike and protect it.

Flaws:

Leaky Brain - Unfortunately, Brangwaine's remarkable quickness with new information means her retention of that information can be lacking without constant refreshing - like YouTube "polyglots" who can remember enough of a language to get them through a single trip, only to be unable to get a sentence out a year later. She can pick up a board game in a blink, but you'll have to go through the whole thing again if you want to play a month from now, unless she's been playing every week. She is similarly bad with names, often requiring multiple introductions to retain them.

Docile - While her moral compass usually prevents her from falling prey to "just following orders" evil, Brangwaine is nonetheless submissive to the ideas of others. She feels strongly about doing her duty - but what that duty is can be dictated by others, as long as it aligns with her ideas of right and wrong. She rarely takes initiative on important issues, preferring to be carried along by the general current or, even better, given express commands. This can lead her to a sort of decision paralysis in situations where she has no one to direct her, often rendering her somewhat useless. As someone with a pragmatic view of violence as a tool in the peacekeeper's kit, it can also make her a dangerous weapon in correctly-manipulative hands.

Hopeless Romantic - Not in the love sense, although that does apply - in the sense of high-flung ideals and marvelous victories. Brangwaine believes that there is a nobility in acting recklessly in the service of one's ideals and passions. Final stands are a glorious thing to her; sacrificing all for love is equally delightful. This can lead her into unrealistic ideas, and cause her to act against caution and slow progress in a way that is frustrating or even damaging, encouraging others to do things that are unwise or even doing them herself. This can be especially dangerous paired with her natural submissiveness and desire to please.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: Very far apart, pale grey, with pale lashes and very fine, pale eyebrows.
Hair: Strawberry blonde, very long, stick straight, and often worn in elaborate braids or chignons.
Face: An extreme but still-human phenotype of wideset eyes, broad mouth, upturned nose, high forehead, and long and slender neck.
Skin Tone: Very pale, with pink eyelids and nose as if constantly combating a cold.
Body Type: Tall (around six feet), leggy, and mostly slim, albeit with wideset hipbones and a slightly pudgy lower belly.
Clothes: Initially she's just gonna be wearing whatever cast offs she can get, but she will come to prefer very simple trousers and shirts with a good silhouette.

Senshi: Brangäne, Deep Space Senshi of Duty

Attacks:

Sailor Scout Attack: What is Needful
A chosen enemy in a ten foot radius of Brangäne experience a sensation of intense pain when she points at them as though they are crumbling under the weight of their duties. Emotionally, targets may feel as though they are not meeting expectations and are failing their obligations and may become obsessed with criticizing their own personal failures; physically, this will manifest as extreme symptoms of stress (such as hot flashes that may feel like their skin is being scourged, heart palpitations, migraines, etc.). To resist the pain and continue focusing requires active willpower. This magic lasts for 25 seconds and has three uses per battle. A more subtle pain may linger afterwards if the other player chooses to have it do so.

Super Sailor Scout Attack: Crushing Burdens
As she closes her fist, all enemies in a 10 foot radius of Brangäne are subjected to a sensation of crushing and suffocating pressure, as though they are crumbling under the weight of their duties. Emotionally, targets may feel as though they are not meeting expectations and are failing their obligations and may become obsessed with criticizing their own personal failures; physically, this will manifest as extreme symptoms of stress (such as hot flashes that may feel like their skin is being scourged, chest pain, migraines, extreme shortness of breath, etc.). The pressure may also make it difficult to move or focus. Residual shortness of breath may linger if the other player chooses to have it do so. This magic lasts for 30 seconds and has two uses per battle.

Eternal Sailor Attack: Noblesse Oblige
By extending a hand towards a single target in a 15 foot radius, Brangäne can summon a cool, pleasantly-fragranced breeze. A pleasantly sleepy sensation descends on the target, bringing a calm feeling of peace and security as though they are being rewarded for accomplishing their duties and can reap the rewards as their body begins to heal itself. This magic heals minor and moderate wounds and slows ongoing damage from burns, bleeding, or similar injuries. This magic lasts for 45 seconds and has one use per battle. Notably, this causes Brangäne to feel somewhat tired herself when it has been exhausted.

Deep Space Senshi:

Physical Features: For the most part just slightly less human. Has an unnaturally high forehead with two blue markings from the eyebrow area, as well as a small metallic/pearlescent bump at the center of the hairline. Eyes are a metallic/reflective white iris in a greyish sclera. Has long thin sensory antennae from the temples, used to sense certain natural phenomena on her homeworld and entirely useless on earth. These can be mistaken for hair and if necessary bound up with her hair, although this is somewhat uncomfortable. Skin is more greyish and more translucent-looking, with veins visible through the surface. Palms and soles of feet are also greyish blue.

Backstory/History:

Her culture prizes "found families" and intentionally-created social bonds very strongly over those you are born into, and her found family was among the people of Earth. This was spurred by an early encounter with an Earth-born mentor and by the realization that her inclination for a pragmatic view of violence as a means to peace found a better fit on Earth than back home. Finding ready active work there cemented her fondness for the blue marble. While she traveled a great deal and often returned to her home, she always found a way back to Earth, working alongside knights and senshi there as well as (when she could get away with it) human soldiers. She is simultaneously delighted and dismayed to find herself back there, and will be disturbed to learn of its collapse.

The introduction of interstellar travel was disastrous for her people, whose numbers dwindled sharply due to their cultural value for striking out into new communities. By the time s**t hit the fan, there was only a struggling remnant of population on her homeworld, and a social movement rising in backlash to values of dispersion. She found herself isolated and alienated there even before the Chaos came - and it came swiftly and effectively to the already-compromised planet, manifesting first as a sense of strange insomnia among some of its inhabitants before spreading, first in the form of feverish disease and then general decay.

Her people can become sleepy/sluggish for very long periods of time on their homeworld, entering a sort of quasi-hibernation that distorts the passage of time and is often used to endure lengthy hardships. She has been in this state for long enough that it has had an effect on her mannerisms permanently, making her seem a bit languid unless she is alert for battle, and complicating her fragmented memory by also causing her constant confusion as to what is a memory and what is something she merely vividly dreamed. Her recollections have become hopelessly scrambled past the point of retrieval, save for some clear scraps of her early days on Earth, before things began to go south - and the isolation she felt on her own planet before the Chaos came.

As the ability to enter this hibernation state is dependent on strict environmental factors, it is not something she can do on Earth - and the Chaos has made it at last inaccessible even on her own world, awakening her to the full horrors of her situation. She is going to develop a mean caffeine addiction.

She feels duty-bound to attempt to rescue her planet from its Chaos, and her strong sense of obligation will cause her to pursue this, but her personal feelings are extremely compartmentalized and less invested in reviving a dead world than in what she can do for a living one.
