Follows Surprise.

She surged forwards, her eyes on the nurse. "I am his legal contact and medical decision maker if he is unable to do that. The rest are his coworkers and superior."
It might be notable to the Captain how she suddenly pulled herself more together, speaking clearly and without the stutter, when she needed to seem in control.
"Will we be able to see him soon?"

Logan was surprised at the speed of her response more than anything else, but he was relieved to see that she could speak more clearly now that someone who knew more about Nate's condition was available. He stood back with the rest, eyes on the nurse.
"Perfect. You must be Ms.," he paused to look at the chart. "Yong? He just got out of surgery and is on the way to the recovery room now. Only two visitors at a time once he's fully settled there. For now, Ms. Yong, if you'll follow me? The doctor would like a word."

She had to control the urge to tremble all over, but she nodded to confirm she was Ms. Yong at the question. His answer had her looking perhaps a little less freaked out, but only a little... After all, having to talk to the doctor COULD be a bad sign.
"Alright. Lead the way." She followed the nurse back, and to where the doctor waiting, her eyes focusing so very hard on a spot on the floor one might think she was trying to burn a hole in it.

He led her down a series of hallways, going at a moderate pace and checking behind him on occasion to make sure hadn't lost her. After a few turns they finally went through some double doors, over which was a large sign that said "PACU" in big, bold print. He then led her to one of the beds where a doctor was standing, eyes up and observing one of the monitors. Upon their arrival, the nurse introduced Seren, handed the doctor the chart, and excused himself.
"Ms. Yong, I'm Dr. Vaughn," she said, offering the younger woman a small, sympathetic smile. From her introduction, she went straight into the details. "The accident had caused multiple injuries, primarily on the left side of his body. He has some cracked bones--his shoulder, and some ribs. These are relatively minor and just need time to heal. The fractures in his wrist and arm weren't complete fractures but they were a little more serious, so we set them and put a cast on to ensure they heal up fully and properly. His leg was fully broken, so we took care of that during surgery. We're just immobilizing it for now, once the swelling's gone down we'll check to make sure everything looks good before we put a cast on."
She paused to flip a page in the chart. "He had some pretty bad cuts, some needed stitches, and there was a lot of bruising. After all the scans we didn't find any injury to any of his vital organs, and there wasn't a lot of bleeding during the surgery."
Seren asked a few questions after the explanation, and Dr. Vaughn did her best to answer.
"I expect he'll be here for two, maybe three days at most if there aren't any additional complications. Broken bones can take anywhere between six to twelve weeks for an average, healthy adult. He'll need a lot of help at home since he won't be able to really move a whole lot during the first couple of weeks. He needs to go to all of his follow-ups so we can keep an eye on how he's healing, and once he's out of the casts he'll have to go to physical therapy. I don't expect any permanent damage, but I would strongly advise that he be more mindful of certain things--what types of sports he plays, what types of workouts he does, etc.--just to be safe. Otherwise, if everything goes well, he should be fully functional."

The fact that the doctor was a woman made Seren a little less tense in this situation... And her sympathy helped, too. Seren managed to look up, and keep her eyes on, or at least around, the doctor's face the entire time the woman was speaking. The list of injuries had Seren's paled face going nearly white... the lack of organ injury, and the minimal bleeding gained a little color back, but she was still pretty pale when the doctor finished and she asked her questions... Nate was going to be miserable the entire time he was healing, he didn't do well with not being able to be active... And the pain was going to be intense with all that.
As the doctor finished up, she spent a moment covering her face, trying not to give in to a short break down.
That would come later, when she was alone at home, she suspected.
When the doctor finished fully, however, she uncovered her face again and nodded, expression determined under the pale fear and worry. "He'll have all the help he needs. Luckily I work on campus at the University, so I'm off for quite a few weeks. Between my brother and I, we'll make sure he's cared for and gets to all of his appointments." She made a slight face, knowing he was not going to love potential restrictions to his future workouts but... He wouldn't want to reinjure anything. "Alright."
She turned to face him... She had not yet, because she was worried she'd fall apart if she did. She looked him over and closed her eyes for a moment to hold herself together... Then she sat down in the chair, placing her hand on his. "Is there anything else, or can his coworkers come in to visit him now?"

The same nurse from earlier re-emerged as she was asking her questions, a kind smile and a clipboard on hand. Dr. Vaughn regarded him with a nod, then turned her attention back to Seren. "That's good to hear. And no, that's all from me for now. I expect I'll be seeing you over the next few days. Please don't hesitate if you have any questions. If Gerry can't answer them, he'll pass them along to me."
With that, she excused herself to attend to her other patients. Gerald, whose name was very clearly printed in large, bold font on his badge, stepped forward and offered her the clipboard.
"If you don't mind, there's some paperwork that needs to be filled out. No rush, just whenever you can get to them. As for visitors, we have a strict two visitors only policy here in the recovery room. It'll be more lax once he's transferred to his own room, though. Would you like me to go and let the others in the waiting room know?"

Seren nodded in response to the doctor's information, and then looked up when Gerald entered. She gave a polite good bye as the doctor left, and turned back to Gerald, accepting the clipboard.
"Thank you... Yes, I think they would appreciate that. I'll get all this filled out."
She pause, then her expression got an 'Oh!' Look. "How long before he is in his own room, do we have an estimate?"

"Thank you," he replied as he took a step back to leave. He paused, though, at her question. "At least an hour, usually three hours at most unless the doctor wants to get any additional tests done while he's here and we have to wait on those results. Complications could also cause a potential delay, but we're monitoring him really closely and are doing out best to prevent any of those as much as possible."
Ariia Starstone
"Thank you. Once again. You've been ever so kind, and helpful, and I truly appreciate it." The anxious woman gave him a warm, if stressed and tired, smile that showed she meant her words, and then she leaned over the clipboard, beginning to go through all the documents that they needed her to complete.
Whenever the first other visitor arrived, she would be very focused on the documents, holding the board tightly to make sure it didn't slide, but she would also notice them and acknowledge them nearly instantly.

"You're very welcome. If there's anything you need, please hit the call button on his bed and I'll come as soon as I can." And with that, the nurse stepped out of the room and headed straight for the waiting room.
The stream of EMT slow but steady. Each one gave her a quiet greeting before they turned their attention to Nate. Some just looked, others spoke quiet words of encouragement to them both, and others still brought small get-well-soon tokens (which Gerry had to take out of the room since counter space was limited). Logan was the last visitor, at least from their team, and he offered Seren a word of encouragement, left her his card, and reminded her to call him if she needed anything before he stepped out. Shortly after that, Gerry came with the announcement that he was cleared to transfer.
"He sorta won the lottery as far as rooms go," he told Seren as he checked Nate's vitals. "Private room, a bigger one in the corner so it's a little quieter. You might have to work a little harder to get the nurse's attention when it gets busy, but I think it's worth the privacy."

Seren was polite, greeted everyone back, and when encouragement was offered, accepted it with thanks and grace, but otherwise she was mostly focused on the paperwork. When that was done, her focus was on Nate, and she would be holding his hand for as long as possible. She tucked away Logan's card, with quiet but sincere thanks, and also showed gratitude to Gerry when he explained about the room.
She stayed out of the way for the transfer, but as soon as he was fully settled in, she sat herself back at his side, holding his hand again. She also texted Dai to tell him where things were at.
