Dedicated - Nalu carries a great responsibility (and burden) of great devotion to his world of origin. Nalu was taught to be devout to both the natural and spiritual worlds, an honor he takes very seriously. He is loyal to his blood family, but also to his settlement and race.
Curious - Growing up in a very small village, always doing the same work each day and night inspired Nalu with a deep curiosity for the outside world. He is aware that there are others like him, the other Kahikans, and others so different he could hardly imagine what they were like (Earthlings, Aishans).
Vigilant - Since he was young, Nalu's parents taught him to be exceedingly aware of his surroundings. As an albino of his race, the young Menehune is forever vigilant, keen eyes always scanning and taking in new stimuli from the environment.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✧✧✧ History
Nalu was brought up by a pair of deeply spiritual parents in Po'onua, a small Menehune settlement in the south of Elehun. While both of his parent's exhibited the deep greens and brown's most commonly seen among their people, Nalu's complexion, eyes and hair were unusually fair by comparison. Despite low visibility in the murky waters, albino offspring experienced greater injury and mortality rates. Their fair skin was also more likely to burn in direct sunlight. In order to protect their child, Nalu was taught to always be cautious and vigilant. Fearful that future offspring might inherit the same unfortunate condition, his parents chose to have only the single child.
From an early age, Nalu's devout parent's instilled in him the core principles of Ko'kapu: order, discipline and spiritual power. The small pantheon of Gods the Menehune worshipped were a natural part of Nalu's day to day tasks and he was educated on rituals to show thanks for the many ways they added value to their lives. Nalu was expected to respect both the physical and spiritual worlds, as well as to demonstrate modesty through living simply. They adorned themselves with natural resources from their environment: cutting and arranging sharp grasses into headdresses, wrist bands and hair ties, as well as collecting especially vibrant stones and shells to polish and carve for use as beads. Part of understanding the natural world was also learning of the dangers that existed and how to coexist peacefully with native flora and fauna. Po'onua was known to have some of the deepest waterways, which brought with it an abundance of resources, but also larger and more threatening predators.
The young Kahikinan recalled hearing frequently shared stories and warnings of an ominous threat which lurked at the deepest parts of Elehun's waters. Younglings were expected to steer clear of the underwater fences, which were used to act as reinforced barriers between the settlements and the armored beasts known as the Ko'olona. Nalu found himself mesmerized by the terrifying accounts of the creature. In particular, the fearsome monster's propensity to grab ahold of prey and drag them into the depths. His parents repeated the same warning on more than one occasion: they were meant to avoid the Ko'olona at all times. Nalu's curiosity burned more intense with every new detail he learned.
While both of his parents were satisfied with the slow pace of life in their settlement, Nalu frequently found himself growing bored of the same routine. Their family would hunt and gather resources to share: water weeds dried and used for clothing, ashes collected for glass production, colorful flowers used for dyes. The bulk of their goods would be utilized by their community, while everything in excess could be set aside for trade with their nearest Menehune, and less frequently, Kaha'iko, neighbors. While hard work was important, Nalu took every opportunity to break routine, whether it was to visit a nearby settlement to trade goods or some other familial responsibility.
Though retired into a life of Ikiula trapping with small nets in the shallow waters and mud, Ikaika, one of Nalu's two Mother's, still infrequently shared stories of their days as an Adventurer. Nalu absorbed every detail that was shared with awe and wonder. And while he was certain that Ikaika softened some areas and embelished others, he still cherished the tales they weaved. Nalu's more cautious parent, Hōkūlani, would frequently scold Ikaika when the story threatened the possibility of danger. And while those tales could not be uttered out loud, Ikaika's well muscled body adorned with countless scars, old healed wounds and elaborate tattoos told a different story.
Nalu recalled with perfect clarity that morning which would grant him his first tattoo.
Ikaika was frequently up and working by the time Nalu woke in the morning. Hōkūlani chose to honor her favored Goddess, Ia'anau, through quiet meditation with the sun. Nalu was still contemplating the powerful storm from the night before and recognizing that there could be damage and repairs to aid Ikaika with later that day. Kaino, God of Storms was one Deity Talu felt unusually drawn to. While their quiet marshland was generally slow-moving and predictable, it was during violent storms that the water moved in tumultuous waves that Talu felt exceptionally inspiring.
After completing his medication, Talu took off in the direction of the Ikiula nets, unsurprised to see a considerable amount of damage. What caught him off guard was the dozen missing nets along the shoreline and no sight of his Mother, Ikaika. Sometimes Enhudra's would play too close to their gear, or get hungry and damage a net, but that was generally a couple at most. What was even more unsual was the complete absence of Enhudra's in the area, or any birds either, upon closer inspection.
Nalu felt every muscle in his body grow tense when he recognized Ikaika's sash floating nearby. From his peripheral vision, he saw a brightly colored Pinunao swoop across the water surface before immediately diving in after his parent. His Mother told him they were symbols of strength and luck; He held onto that token of good fortune as he sought any sign that she was nearby.
It felt like a lifetime before he was at the infamous, restricted barrier designed to protect their community. Through sharp vigilance, Nalu immediately spotted a handful of heavily torn nets that had been dragged downward before recognizing that the barrier was broken.
Witnessing the infamous Ko'olona, with enormous jaws clamped around Ikaika's upper thigh and continuing to drag her downward, Nalu recognized that he had to act quick. In the depths, the albino Menenhue stood out like a beacon, drawing the immediate attention of the Beast. The Ko'olona shifted focus and in loosening its grip, allowed Ikaika the opportunity to cast a spectral tentative out to grapple the monster.
His Mother would inevitably lose her leg, but the rescue of her youngling son, allowed them both to swim away with their lives.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✧✧✧ Notes
RP Growth Points || 300 word solo = 1 point || 10 post RP = 5 points || 7 posts in official group event = 5 points
RPs || RPs consisting of two to three characters will have a 10 post minimum requirement per character to count for growth. || RPs consisting of more than three characters will have a 7 post minimum (also per character). || RPs cannot be added together to create one growth req (ex: two 5 post RPs will not equal a growth requirement) || RPs consisting of double the posts can count for 2 RPs (and triple can count for 3, etc.) This does not apply to World Events. || Owners cannot RP more than one character combined in one post even if they are related or otherwise (ie: Aminah and Sathe cannot have one block of text to count for both of them. Aminah's post should be clearly labeled as her post, and Sathe's should be clearly labeled as her post.)
Journal Entries/Solos || Journal entries (more commonly known as solos) cannot include any other playable characters, even if owned by the same owner. (That is considered an RP) || There is a minimum word count of 300 words for a Solo/Journal Entry to be counted towards your growth requirements. || Journal entries longer than 300 can also be combined with others to be used as multiple points toward growth. (ex: a 500 word solo and a 400 word solo can be combined for 3 growth points) || Class affinity journal entries are solos that focus on how or why a character is picking their class. They are required for the prentice stage. || Class affinity journal entries must be at least 300 words. This solo can be used toward the points needed for growth (so this solo is worth 1 or more points).
