"Alright Soran, come on, you can do it." Said a young leaf/wind mixed girl. Her auburn colored hair was covered in a hat, her green dress reached well past her knees. She looked back towards a young Scorra who was following her with a pair of home made saddlebags over its back.

Aldara was on another delivery mission for her mother, the baker of her family. Seemed everyone enjoyed her home made treats and this time she was talked with going to a small village between Isd, her home village and Yera. Her mother had told her that it would take her a couple of days. This made the girl grown, hating the idea that she would be away that long. But she would have her companion, a young Scorra, with her.

"If we can make it to the way house before dark, that would be nice." She said as the Scorra peeped in agreement.

The day was a nice one, a few clouds drifted over head, but the sun was out and blazing. Waves of heat rose from the ground where there weren't any trees. A few scrub bushes littered the sides of the well traveled road. Aldara stopped and glanced upwards, seeing that it was almost noon and her stomach was growling to show she hadn't eaten in a while.

"First let find a shady spot to have lunch." Aldara commented before spotting a small stand of trees to sit beneath.

Ashkii was residing at the peak of the small gathering of trees that Aldara approached for shelter. Having grown up in one of Tale's largest forests, the young leaf boy found himself deeply uncomfortable with the wide, open spaces void of any trees. Traveling so far from home was also new to him.

Thankful for the shade offered, Ashkii continued to hide away for the moment, green complexion providing some camouflage. The boy wore a green cloth over one shoulder and down his waist, a singular brown bracer at his left arm and a pair of dark shorts. He opted to go barefoot, preferring the connection to nature and improved grip with his feet.

Ashkii was independent by nature, but as Aldara and her young Scorra approached, he grew more curious. He was familiar with how Scorra bonded strongly to their caretakers and thought that spoke highly to how the young girl must have treated it.

Climbing down a few of the tree's branches to get a better vantage, the smell of pastries finally wafted across Ashkii's senses. The leaf kid found himself salivating, even without knowing exactly what it was he was smelling.

Before making himself visibly known, Ashkii cleared his throat to speak, "If you need someone to get you to and from anywhere in Tale, I could help you..." He was probably overselling his skills, though the boy was Mentoring with the Rangers of his family.

"Maybe in trade for whatever it is you have that smells so good?" He wasn't generally this talkative, but his stomach was grumbling and the girl seemed to be leaf, like him. He didn't immediately recognize the wind in her at all.

Aldara had spread a small blanket she had brought with her to sit upon. It was well big enough for herself and the Scorra to be off the ground. Leaning back against one of the trees, she hadn't realized that they weren't alone in shade. Soran, trotting closer, was relieved of his load. The young bird stretched small wings, flapping them to stretch the muscles.

"After lunch we'll continue on." She smiled at the young Scorra as it trotted closer and nestled down on the blanket, tail feathers rustling side to side as it did. "Now lets see what mom packed us..."

Her thoughts were shattered as someone else spoke up. Glancing around, jumping back to her feet as she did. Her skirts rustling about her legs as she looked around. She didn't see him at first, but as he moved, she noted the green toned boy that was also using the stand of trees as shade. Emerald green eyes blinked as he spoke that he could get her anywhere in Tale that she needed to go. Though it was at the cost of whatever she had in her packs. "Where did you come from?" She exclaimed, surprised.

When Aldara had leaped to her feet, Soran shrieked and also was back on its feet. Small feathers flying into the air as it flapped stubby wings. The Scorra raced around before coming to stand behind Aldara, large eyes peeking out from behind her skirt. Looking down, Aldara rested a hand on Soran's head to try and calm the bird.

"I have a good idea of where I have to head..' Aldara stated, though her voice quivered from the fright. "I have to delivered those goods, the wrapped ones.." She was indeed on a delivery mission, the fresher goods wrapped in special cloth were meant to go to florist in another town, an old friend of her mother's. "But I think I can give you something from my own package... I just can't give you much as it has to last until tomorrow..." She was unsure of how much was really packed for the trip. Her mother had said it would be enough for herself and Soran, she just wasn't sure if there would be enough for three people.

Ashkii was especially curious about how the other Earthling adorned and packed her Scorra, realizing that it was both humane and exceedingly practical for her travels.

"Do the bags hurt him?" He asked gently, concern for the animal evident in his voice. He watched as Soran stretched and flapped, seemingly content and happy.

At the mention of her Mother packing her bags, the green skinned boy made a face, as though he were surprised (and maybe a little weirded out) by that realization. Ashkii didn't have a very good poker face and his emotions were easy to read.

"Are you new to traveling?" He asked with some judgement, even though he found himself in similar shoes.

His attitude seemed to cool when he realized he startled her with his sudden appearance. "Oh, uh... Sorry about that. I was up there," He gestured with a thumb up to the top of the tree he was in.

"I'm Ashkii. From Yware, but I've been exploring. Where are you headed?"

The young Earthling seemed wholly humbled when the Scorra bolted upright, fearful and fluttering. Ashkii's pointed ears drooped downward sadly when he realized it was his fault the animal was frightened. In a much gentler voice than he used with Aldara, he offered, "Hey now... I don't mean you any harm." While it wasn't much for the Earthlings to enjoy for lunch, he offered a small handful of crushed nuts and seeds to the bird.

While not the most empathic in nature, the young tribal boy couldn't take the only food the girl had to offer. "I also have a few greens that I have gathered that I can share." Perhaps if they combined their resources, they could both enjoy a nice meal together.

Aldara watched and listened to this strange boy, he certainly had a lot of questions, one made her puff up a little at the mention of her being new to traveling. Was there something wrong with that? Really she hated being outside her comfort zone. She had to deal with people like this strange green boy. "I do deliveries when my mom asks me to. Not everyone likes crawling through trees." She commented as she watched him still. Soran had settled down some before moving over to peck at the packs that laid on the blanket where Aldara had left them.

"The packs are actually made of a light material. Soran barely knows they are there sometimes. Besides, these are training packs, when he is fully grown he will have a more sturdy set." She mentions at the question of the packs harming the Scorra. They were made for this sort of thing, so long as the parcels weren't monstrously heavy.

"I am delivering pastries to a small village near Yera. Mom told me that it shouldn't take too long. A day if I am fast enough." Aldara had settled back at her packs and pulled out half a loaf of bread and small tub of fresh looking Jam. "Name's Aldara, the Scorra is Soran. My forever shadow." She said pulling off a piece of the bread and handing it to the bird who takes it quickly. "It is nice to meet you Ashkii, I don't travel much. Would rather remain home, but life is hardly ever that fair."

It wasn't that she didn't like the outside world. She just liked being inside and out of the elements. She figured that to go anywhere else in Tendaji all she would need is a book to read about the places. Shaking her head to clear her own thoughts she looked towards Ashkii as he offered to share his food with her. "No thanks, We'll managed." Aldara said as she Took a bite from the jam covered bread, "Though, here. I have a bot of coin for just in case I make it to a way house." She offered the other half for the bread she had sliced into pieces.

Ashkii's eyebrow shot upward at the comment about not everyone enjoying climbing through trees. He did recognize that his love and fascination with trees and being up high was unusual, even among his family. The stubborn Leaf kid wouldn't admit that part out loud, however.

He wasn't exactly sure what to say when she admitted to doing deliveries for her family. It was a noble pursuit, he figured. He did similar tasks from time to time.

Thankful for when the conversation shifted back to the Scorra, the animal lover listened intently. "That's clever," He commented about the extra light packs for the purpose of training up tolerance for the heavier adult bags.

At first the brusque boy only nodded when the girl introduced herself and her bird companion. Realizing that alone might be perceived as rude, he fumbled appreciation. "It's, uh, nice to meet you both. Real nice to see another Leaf with a fondness for animals." That seemed to be something they shared in common, even if they didn't quite get along just yet.

"You'd rather stay home, then?" For once, there wasn't judgement in his tone. In fact, he seemed rather surprised to hear it.

He accepted the half of bread with a grateful nod and took a bite of one of the slices before speaking again. "Thank you, by the way. There are no great cooks in my family," He lamented.

"Can I ask how you and your Scorra met? I mean, Soran."

"At times I would rather the silly bird stay home, but he's stuck to me like sticky tree sap." Aldara said as she looked at the Scorra who was looking for more to eat. "But I have been told by a couple of people he will be that way because I was the first thing he saw when he hatched."

She mentions this as she takes another bite from the bread before looking back towards Ashkii. It seemed that he was interested in her companion, not that she minded. The bird was an odd one for sure, following her around like a puppy. "What about you? Have you any companions?" She asked before the comment on cooks came up.

"My mother is a great cook, people come from almost all over to get her pastries. Though it is not her main profession, she is more a bard then anything else. But cooking, I would say is her second passion."

Ashkii couldn't hold back an amused chuckle at the mention of Soran being stuck to Aldara like tree sap. He seemed to take the animal's approval of the girl very seriously in his own assessment of her.

"Ah, imprinting," He replied between bites of bread. "I don't doubt that plays a factor, but from what I hear, Scorra bond quite strongly to their chosen person, even without the chance to see them right as they hatch." His cheeks flushed pink a little, not wanting Aldara to think he was harshly correcting what she said.

His ears drooped apologetically before he added gently, "That sounds really special. Your whole connection. I really admire that." He felt silly speaking up so much about his internal thoughts and his voice was scratchy from lack of use.

The question about his own companions drew a curious expression from the Leaf kid. "Uh... not yet, but I've had dreams of encountering an injured Kinfa, and so I periodically investigate the woods of Yware. I've grown rather fond of our native birds there. I know there are tamers in Vers, but... it doesn't quite feel the same." He wasn't sure if that sounded weird.

Hearing talk of Aldara's excellent cook mother had Ashkii drooling, even while eating bread. "Your mom sounds pretty cool!" He had to admit.

Pressing her tongue into the side of her cheek, Aldara started at Ashkii with the most deadpanned face ever. Not even saying a thing saying a thing she packed up what wasn't eaten and packed it back into the packs. Stepping off the blanket she took hold of one corner and shook whatever might have been on it in his direction. Folding the cloth and packing that once more she picked up the packs.

"Come on Soran." Aldara said a bit shortly as the Scorra, sensing her emotions scurried over.

Aldara slipped the harness back onto the Scorra, the packs sitting just behind its wings. The bird gave a shake to settle its feathers into the right places before trotting in place, eager to move on. Aldara said not a thing to the green colored boy as she walked past him, though she did stop a few steps away.

"No need to tell me what I have been told before. I know how the act works, I know how Scorras bond well to earthlings. My family have a flock of them, Soran was from the latest clutch." She looked back at the boy pointedly, "Now I need to get on with my delivery. You are welcome to come along. As long as you talk about something other than my companion." With that she and Soran continued down the road, the Scorra walking just behind Aldara who was petting its head trying to calm down a bit. She had also completely unheard everything else that had been said about a Kinfa.

When Aldara started packing up the rest of her meal in a hurry, it was Ashkii's turn to appear startled. With some confusion he blurted out a question, while mostly making sure that he was out of her way, "--leaving already?"

Ashkii scurried farther up the tree as the contents of the blanket were shook off in his direction. He managed to bite any remarks back, understanding that he must have struck a nerve.

The Leaf boy was content to let the girl go, not wanting to cause another unintentional upset between them. He seemed disappointed to see the animal leave, however, as well as his opportunity to learn more about it.

When she paused a few paces away and made him the offer to join her, he raised an eyebrow with some confusion. "I don't mean to cause any trouble..." He swung down to the base of the tree so that she could actually hear him.

"The act? I thought I was complimenting you on the strength of your bond to your companion," He stumbled over his words. "I think it's great that your family has a flock of Scorra--" He paused in recognition that she asked to change the subject.

"Can you tell me why you're so mad?"

"It was your tone, try picking your wording better." Was all she commented on when he asked what made her so mad. "Be grateful that I am not someone else that would take the tone worse then I." She gave warning, thinking of other people that might have struck out with a weapon of sorts.

Sighing, Aldara rubbed her face as she kept walking. She just wanted to get this delivery over with and go back home. Soran gave a concerned look to its companion as she seemed to smile at him. She took another deep breath before looking back towards Ashkii.

"So do you live in these parts?" Aldara asked as she continued walking, her pace even so that the Scorra could keep in step with her. "Or are you from another region of Tendaji?"

Ashkii's ears remained drooped as Aldara continued to reprimand him. The stern talking to reminded him of when his Mother was disappointed in him. He took a breath, trying to feel calm about the entire encounter.

He could only nod wordlessly to show his understanding about his tone. Ashkii was content to listen to Aldara. He understood that he wasn't known for his empathy and people skills. It was possible that she was right.

"I live in Yware," He answered her question. "I haven't traveled outside Tale, though I'll periodically frequent the Sauti border." Thinking of the Wind tribe, he suddenly realized Aldara had round ears, unlike the Leaf tribe.

Aldara kept up with her pace, wanting to cover as much ground as she could. Still she listened to the boy that was following her. She was still a bit edgy, not sure if she could trust him, even if she were move trusting to others. When he mentioned that he was from Yware. That was a few days walk away from their current location. Did this boy really travel that far on his own? Surely his parents knew right?

"That is so far away from here. Do your parents know that you travel this far from home?" She asked as she was concerned. She was always worried about her parents not knowing where she was. Really she hated being this far from home to begin with. Away from the familiarity and smells that made things homey. "I know my parents would be worried if I traveled too far away from home."

Frowning to herself she looked at Soran who was plotting along beside her. The bird glancing in her direction as she did, tilting its head to one side. She wondered what the bird was thinking. Was he as concerned about all this like she was? Or was he just wondering when he was going to be getting he next meal.. It was hard to tell as she couldn't read the minds of the critter, but it was something to think about other than the long distance exploration.

Ashkii walked along with Aldara, giving the woman some space, if she needed it. His sharp and perceptive green eyes scanned their surroundings for any signs of movement or danger. While Aldara did not make any requests of Ashkii, the young Leaf boy took it upon himself to help protect his traveling companion while they were together.

Sensing the surprise from Aldara when he mentioned where he was from, he tried to reassure her. "They do," He answered truthfully. While the Leaf Tribe were not nomadic, like the Wind Tribe, his entire family were skilled survivalists, who could endure and succeed alone in the wilderness.

"I was raised to rely on nature to survive," He explained. "They're probably more worried about who I'll run into, rather than what... But this is all preparation for when I decide to set out and find somewhere to live on my own."

Realizing her worry probably came from a similar place as her parents, he asked curiously, "Have you encountered any difficulties in your travels?"

Aldara side eyed the boy as he spoke that he had been raised to rely on the nature to survive. She relied on things in a small community to survive. She liked staying home where she knew it was safe from most things. Her roof my spring a leak, but that was always easily repaired. Something breaks, she had friends that could come and fix it for her. She didn't know the first thing of relying on the things around her to survive without another person around.

"I don't travel much. This is the farthest I have traveled away from home." she answered his question, "I like staying where things aren't so dangerous. The times my father has come home with scratches and cuts from his adventures... I would much rather just stay where I don't have to have such wounds." The memory of her father coming home bandaged up and just laughing it off as just a small thing. The scars he had acquired before she had been born, on nearly taking out his left eye. The thoughts made her shudder.

"If I ever meet someone I want to settle down with, I am just going to stay at home and deal with the house work. No grand adventures for me." She said matter of factually. Though her thoughts went back to the strange wind hybrid she had run into during the pollen outbreak. She wondered if he had scars like her father. He wasn't someone who stayed in one place, right? He had mentioned something about finding something in Zena... Shaking her head, she tried clearing her mind of the stranger, one who's name she had forgotten.
