[Wildwood Games] The Hunt

"Welcome to the Hunt," said Cybele, one hand resting on a modern looking cage with a jackalope inside. It watched the large crowd before it with wide eyes. "The rules of this one are simple. In a moment, I'm going to release this jackalope into the woods." She patted the cage, although there couldn't be much doubt which animal she was talking about.

There were other jackalopes in the underbrush. They were one of the more common animals on Cybele. This one, however, had a purple ribbon tied around its neck. It would still blend in a bit with the purple flowers that seemed to make up half of the forest floor, but at least it would stand out some from the crowd.

"Whoever brings it back to me alive is the winner."

That would be more of a challenge, she thought. Also, she never knew if vegans might show up, and she didn't need to make enemies with the vegans.

She already had enough problems in her life.

Cybele opened the cage, and the jackalope sprinted off into the woods. Then, she pulled out her phone and pressed a button. "We'll give it one minute," she said, and smiled. "Then, the hunt is on."

Super Meissa:

Her braids had been secured this time around and Meissa scrutinized the scenery in which she stood before her eyes landed on what it was they needed to try and catch. Her fists were loosely balled at her side as she watched the cage door be lifted to release the creature that Cybele called a jackalope. So, they had to give it a minute head start, did they?

Once the signal was given, Meissa began moving forward, eyes keenly scanning the underbrush for any flash of purple that seemed to be moving erratically.

Hierpolis, Page of Cybele

Hierapolis hadn't felt this anxious in years. Not since high school at least and that had been....okay, we won't do the math here, but suffice to say it had been a really long time, and he thought he had gotten past that feeling but nope, he was definitely having flashbacks to the feelings of awkwardness, anxiousness, and shyness that made up the young emo boy of the past.

He had thought he had come far from being that person - he helmed his domain with ease and poise, confidence, kindness, and a knowledgeable social acumen that could almost be called extroversion. However, taken out of his element, maybe he wasn't so far removed from his old self after all.

He thought he'd be able to hold it together if Steins were there with him, but upon seeing the roster of events Hierapolis had joined at Steins behest - he had been more than fine with the idea of being a spectator along side her, but no small amount of begging and pleading later, and he had signed up. And she was off somewhere else. Leaving him with a bunch of people he didn't know.

The Page shortly had time to even start to panic before instructions were began. He listened, watched, distracted with his own thoughts and feelings, and actions thereafter hesitant and unsure. He bit his lip and took in a breath. Steins was watching, he'd remind himself, before quietly starting the pursuit, still distracted.

Illyria

Cats were skilled hunters. There was some sort of pride on the line for Illyria. Catching sight of a senshi tearing off after the released jackalope, Illyria waited. She recognized the senshi she'd upgraded once during a downpour but there would be time to catch up later on. For now, she slunk forward, belly low to the ground and all of her senses alive for the rustling of foliage or the sight of a creature wearing a ribbon around its neck.

This was sure to be a fun time no matter who caught the creature. But Illyria hoped it would be her.

Eternal Myrrha (has seen the jackalope)

There looked to be a wait for the arm wrestling tournament that she had thought to sign up for so Myrrha decided that she would try to find this creature that had been released into the wilds of Cybele in order for others to find it and bring it back. There was of course the initial mad scramble that others decided to opt for and Myrrha had to hold back the chuckle at seeing a pretty adorable feline slinking off into the woods. Apparently these games brought all sort of order folk out.

That was good. It meant that there were chances for her to perhaps reconnect with those that she had lost touch with. Instead of going in the same direction that everyone else had decided to pursue, Myrrha ambled off on a slightly smaller trail, making sure that her footsteps were carefully placed as to not snap branches and the like. It might have been five minutes or perhaps longer but a flash of a creature streaked by her and before Myrrha could register that it was the animal that they were all looking for, it had already darted further away up the trail. But in that short moment, she had memorized what it was they were all searching for again. Perhaps she was on the right path if she had already seen the animal this quickly.

Squire Irkalla

It was perhaps the worst idea to attempt a hunting of an animal that was foreign to her. Instead of racing off after the jackalope that had been released from the cage, Irkalla merely took the time to appreciate all the beauty of this strange new world around her. Of all the places that she had been to in outer space, she had to admit already that Cybele was the most breathtaking vista to look upon. Her gaze flicked to one new plant to another before she gently inhaled one of the blossoms that sprouted up.

Even if she did not find the jackalope this whole adventure was still a win in her books. The chance to explore a new surrounding was always a bonus. Her gaze flicked to the animals that were mixing in and around those that were hunting before she merely sighed and shook her head. Time to quit daydreaming ... even if this place was perfect for that particular activity.

Eternal Sailor Tjilaki

Tjilaki wanted to test out her skills. She had upgraded to eternal and wanted to prove to herself and others that she is not the scary little senshi that she was before.

She joined the tournaments to prove a point. She was at the hunt part of it all and watch as the knight released the jackalope.

The knight. Cybele was her name. Welcomed everyone. She pointed to a cage that she had next to her. "The rules of this one are simple. In a moment, I'm going to release this jackalope into the woods." "Whoever brings it back to me alive is the winner."

The jackalope had a purple ribbon attached to it's neck. Cybele bent down and released the jackalope.

The jackalope ran off into the woods.

Tjilaki watched intently as the jackalope bounded away, its purple ribbon flapping in the wind. She could feel her heart race with excitement, her competitive spirit welling up inside her. This was her chance to prove that she was no longer just a "scary little senshi."

With a determined look on her face, Tjilaki took off after the elusive creature. She darted through the dense underbrush, agile and swift like a gazelle. Her senses heightened, she honed in on the faint sounds of the jackalope's scampering hooves.

Mechelen Squire of Lysithea

Jackalopes. The whole idea of actually seeing something as fake as a jackalope was…well. Funny. But then again, she was from a place with unicorns so maybe not so fake…but…

Still, she hadn’t yet seen a real unicorn up at her Wonder, and maybe if she had she wouldn’t be finding the idea of a jackalope to be so…absurd.

Even though it was...Mechelen was going to do her best to try and find it! There was glory to be had, and she was pretty sure Halle was here, she had seen him and wanted to find him, two sets of eyes was always going to be better than one, after all.

Hurrying through the forest, she kept her eyes open for whatever was out there.

Perhaps, it was only adventure.

Page Ngome

Ngome took her role as page every seriously. She joined the tournament in hopes of building strength and knowledge. She watched as Cybele released the jackalope. Even though she wasn't a page of Cybele she still thought that being in her presence was something special.

The jackalope ran into the woods. Ngome waited for the confirmation to begin the hunt for the jackalope.

As the command to begin was given, Ngome swiftly darted into the woods, her eyes locked on the elusive jackalope. The dense foliage swallowed her, but she navigated through the underbrush with a dancer's grace. With every step, she felt a surge of energy.

She thought that she heard rustling from up ahead.

Ngome's heart raced as she followed the sound, her concentration unbroken. The rustling grew louder, the anticipation building within her. She knew she was getting closer to her quarry.

She went up to a thicket of bushes and pounced. "Got you." Only it wasn't the jackalope in question. It was a jackalope but the one that was supposed to find had a purple ribbon around it's neck and this one didn't.
