The forests of Urania. They were vast and deep. You could be mistaken for believing that they covered all the surface. If you looked out from where you stand, you cannot see past them. Even if you got as high as you could, you would not see anything but the trees. And if you could get as low as you could, you would only see roots. But, at the center of the world, there was a large area of mostly stone. It was on the outskirts of this area that you now stood, on ground of a fine and dark dirt. It is as if you stand on the last bit of ground before the untamed wilderness. This area leads to the Balance Ward. ——— “Welcome to Urania. This sphere here… well, it used to light up this section of the forest! Which section is this? Oh, yes. This is the Balance Ward. Oh! I should explain why it’s called that. The constellation Libra had that title on my world. But it also represented a clan, the Balance clan, represented by the Scales. There was also three tribes under them, Cassiopeia, the Queen; Cetus, the King; and Andromeda, the Child.
See! They are right here on the sphere…
Oh, perhaps I should explain why I’m explaining all this.”The senshi touches the sphere’s stars in a certain order. Nothing happens for a moment. And then you see the stars shift and move before forming the words: Are you ready?“You see, on my world, before I was allowed to leave and explore beyond Urania, I had to complete a challenge from each clan. Which I did! But, um, this thing doesn’t seem to remember that. It won’t let me turn on the light until I do it all over again! I mean… the two things — lighting the way and the challenge aren’t even connected! It must be broken…”She looked sad and her wisp appeared and tried to comfort her by doing all it could which was spin around her head. Then she looked to you. “And I was much stronger than… you see. I’m not at the same stage as I was then. So, if this does what I think it does, I’m going to need some help.”Are you ready? Are you ready? Are you ready? The stars keep reforming and asking the same thing over and over, like it’s broken or something and stuck on repeat. The wisp circles the sphere excitedly as if also asking… Are you ready?tatterpixie Feel free to ask Urania any questions you may have. She may be able to provide more information. Or, if you want to start the challenge, place your hand on the sphere and get ready player one! ❂

Puck, for all he was Senshi of the Woods, had never seen a forest like this, not even on his tiny homeworld. He found himself, when he appeared, standing on the edge of the fog-shrouded crystalline trees, facing a large stone-paved courtyard of sorts; venturing forward onto the stone, he approached the center, where waited the reason he was here: the Deep Space Senshi Urania. She had called for help, and he (among others, he imagined) had answered. Listening to Urania's explanation, the Eternal Senshi studied the strange sphere. It was covered with stars – made sense for the Senshi of Astronomy – but it seemed almost alive. And when she touched them and they moved, he was even more convinced there was something sentient going on with it. The stars formed into words: Are you ready? Ready for what? This challenge she had to face…. Was it that daunting? Was that why he was here? It kept repeatedly scattering and reforming the words, broken, waiting, expecting an answer… "I'll help you," Puck said with a nod. "S'why I came, innit?" Giving Urania a reassuring grin, he sauntered up to the sphere and placed a hand on it. "Let's do this."

The sphere lights up at Puck’s touch. Urania practically jumped. She hadn’t had anyone start so quickly! “Oh! We’re getting right to it!…Listen to the sphere… It should tell us what to so.”A neutral voice, like a bell, can be heard from the sphere. Welcome to the test of the Balance!
The first two tasks are from the King and Queen, Cetus and Cassiopeia:You hear a man’s voice come from the sphere. One night, a king and a queen walked into an empty castle. The next day the king, the queen, and someone else walked out. Who walked out with the king and queen? Then, close behind, you hear a female’s voice. … that’s… hard… dear…The voice fizzles out as if from a record that is old and scratched. May I… a hint:… answer is a homopohe.❂

"You did a very good job explainin' what's going on," Puck grinned, hand still on the sphere. "Don't see why we can't cut right to the chase, yeah? Wonder wha-" The sound of a bell-like voice interrupted him, and he jumped back a bit. "Whoa. Didn't expect that…" So this was the test, was it? He gave the sphere a small scowl; he'd been expecting a more physical challenge, the chance to hit something, like whatever had made the fog. Then the riddle came, and he scowled a bit more. "Look, I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed, I don't know if I can figure this one out – waitaminit, I think I heard this one before, when I was a kid! King and Queen walkin' into a castle one night, who walks out with 'em the next day… hmm." The other voice said it was a homophone… One could almost smell the wood burning in his brain as he worked the riddle out. Finally Puck beamed. "Yeah, it was a knight! I get it – Night with an N, knight with a K, they're wossname, homophone things, yeah? I'm not as dumb as I look," he laughed. "I'm sure I got it!"

“Good job!”Urania gave Puck a high-five. “The king of Urania was also a knight of Cosmos. But you didn’t need to know that to get it. You got it fast! It took me longer when I solved that one, and I knew the extra information for the answer.”The third task is from Andromeda, the Child:
Pass to the other side and your test will be complete.“I remember this one. It’s a test of balance.”A thin line appeared on the ground. At first, it seemed two-dimensional, stretching fifty feet from before you into the distance. But then, suddenly, a gapping chasm opens beneath it. You can see that what was once a line is a thin balance beam made of wood that stretches across the hole. A child stands on the opposite side. tatterpixie Roll a d4 to attempt to walk across. 1-3 is a failure and will teleport you back to the start. 4 is a success and you cross to the other side. However, if you have a way to assist in your crossing, you may get a bonus to your roll. ❂

Puck returned the high-five with a grin. "Yeah, it was 'cause I remember stupid s**t like that, I reckon." Then the bell-like voice returned with another test, and he frowned. "Now waitaminit, is this some kind of drunk test? I ain't been drinking, but this is giving me flashbacks…." Leaning forward, he looked over the edge of the suddenly-appearing chasm. "A balance test?" He sighed. "Right, I'll give it a go." Spreading his arms, he started slowly walking along the beam, one foot in front of the other. He avoided looking down... mostly. Pinwheeling his arms, he panicked -- and found himself back at the beginning. "Well, that didn't go as planned, did it?"

Steeling himself, Puck set out again, trying to make it across the chasm to the child on the other side. Step… slide. Step… slide. He kept his eyes focused on the child, letting his feet guide the way. Then he made the mistake of looking down again, not at his feet but at the gaping hole beneath, and once more he found himself at the beginning before he could fall. Puck swore softly to himself. This was definitely the hardest challege of all.

Once more Puck set off across the chasm, his breathing slow and rhythmic as he concentrated on what he was doing. Glancing between the child and his feet, he wished he had something he could use to help him keep his balance. ...Because clearly relying on his arms alone wasn't cutting it, as he once more overbalanced and found himself back at the start.

Now he was getting angry. This was hard! Closing his eyes, he took a calming breath. Getting pissed off wasn't going to help – it was only going to make things worse, because he'd end up rushing and losing his balance again. And if he didn't have balance in his heart, he'd never get across.
And once more he failed. This was getting frustrating.

Finding himself once more at the beginning, Puck stomped around and swore a bit. Maybe he'd get it out of his system if he lost his temper. Taking another deep, steadying breath, he once more set out across the beam, eyes focused at a point near the end of the challenge at the child's feet.
This time he barely got started before he fell and found himself at the start again.

Well, that didn't work. Maybe if he just concentrated on the child…

"I'M NOT A BLOODY GYMNAST!" Puck shouted at the chasm, at the beam, at everything. "How the f-... How the he-... How am I supposed to do this?"
