It had taken a long time to travel from Yeal to Matori. Beowulf now swore off of traveling via ship from one place to another. Hanging over the railing he felt really green as he watched the waves roll and rock against the keel of the ship. Vision blurring he heaved again over the side, not that he had eaten much over the course of the journey. When the watch called out that they had made it to the harbor at Matori, Beowulf was over joyed, still green atop his caramel colored coloration. When the plank was in place and the lines tied off, he was one of the first to hotfoot it off the ship followed by the laughter of the sailors. Glaring back towards those that hefted crates and other objects onto shoulders, Beowulf adjusted his glasses.

"Never again..." he muttered to himself as he headed away from the docks. He had very little in the means of belongings. He mostly just brought a thick volume of blank or near blank pages. He had thought of filling the book with drawings of plants and places he may visit. Exiting out of Besaji, Beowulf followed the road on foot, soft glowing eyes looking around at the trees and down towards the roots for strange plants to study.

As he walked, he wasn't sure how close to any town that was in Matori, Beowulf stepped off the well beaten road and into the brush. The sun was sinking lower in the skies over head and it was getting harder to see. Uttering something, small balls of light appeared around him and seemed to dance. The light was dim, but it was enough to keep him from running into trees and other things.

"Now lets see what we can find." Beowulf muttered as he crouched close to an older tree, looking at the plants that grew around its roots, some having vines that snaked their way upwards towards the branches..

Ustasis was out playing in the woods near the homestead. He didn't go far, not that far at all. Or so he would tell his parents when he got back to them. He knew were he was, that was for sure. He just...got a little sidetracked and was taking his time finding the right tree home.

Aha, There it was!!! He ran up to the tree. Tapping the trunk as he walked around it. He blinked seeing an older person. "Ah...Hi?"

Beowulf jumped slightly as he turned quickly, the small orbs of light flickered out and plunged the small area back into shadows as he looked towards the young child that stood behind him. Beowulf had indeed fallen onto his backside, tripping over the roots when he spun. "Where... Where did you come from?" He asked as he straightened his glasses to see a little more clearly.

It hadn't really occurred to Beowulf that he might have been intruding upon someone's home or territory. Looking around to the extent that he could see, there were mostly just trees around, he didn't see any houses... Did this child live somewhere close? Were they lost? These were things Beowulf wondered as he moved to get back up onto his feet and brush off the dust.

"Do you live around here? I hope to find a place to spend the night that's not too crowded." He says, though thinks back to the city that he landed within. He could have gotten an inn room there, but the place had many people and he hoped to find a smaller town or something to stay within.

The child smiled brightly up to the elder. "Yes I do sir!!" he blinked when the orbs of light dissapeared. Oh...wait...he had magic!!! "Sir was that magic?"

He stepped up closer. "I've always been curious. My name is Ustasis. my homestead should be..." he looked to the tree and tapped the trunk. "About...another ten minute walk in that direction."

He pointed to the North West of them. "We're nearby a small village. If you need a room for the night, then one of the elders there always has a free room so long as your okay with talking to them in the morning about your life."

Beowulf looked at the child, this one even younger than the one he had looked after back home not that long ago. Straightening his glasses, he summoned another small ball of light and cast it to a spot on the tree so that there was a little glow. "It's a bit of magic. One that can be cast here and there." He said looking at the small glowing ball, "It can have its uses."

Beowulf glanced in the direction that the child had pointed, well the general direction at the very least. The mention of a small village being nearby too was a relief to him, it would mean he could rest there before pressing on. He was still feeling a bit green, seasickness was something that didn't just go away even when one's feet were back on solid ground.

"So there is a village that way, huh? That is a good thing to know. Heavens know I want to stay away from the open seas for a bit." He chuckled before looking back towards Ustasis. It was a curious name, though the world was made up with curious people. "Name's Beowulf. So, what things are you curious about to take you this far from home?" he asked turning back to the vine covered tree, his sketchbook in hand as well as a couple thin slates of charcoal.

Flipping through a few pages, one of a spewing volcano was passed as well as one dyed in red of a larger beast that also spewed fire from its maw. These were drawings of things he had recently experienced... Sometimes he could vaguely feel the heat from the beast's fire touch his skin. These memories would surely fade, but for now they were still very real to him.

The child was instantly at Beowulf's side to look over his sketches. He was inspired to show off some more of his own. He liked drawing, places and people were usually there too. He tilted his head at a few things he saw. "You draw too?"

His voice was soft. "A lot of my family are warriors. I'm a bit shy about showing them what I draw...so far I'm only doing little things like plants."

He took out his ramshackle book, bound by vines and the tiny charcoal piece he managed to find. "There's...not a lot of artist's in the village."

He shrugged as he showed a few plants. For a child he was rather good. "I hope to see more one day..."

Upon some of the pages in Beowulf's thick tome were pictures of plants from his homeland. There were even some charcoal creatures that lived on Yael. There was even some landscapes dotted through the pages.

"My teacher has encouraged me to draw things. To help with memory and to know what may grow or live where." He turned the page to a group of Limbara that lumbered outside the forest where he lived. It was a drawing as if he had been sitting high over head. In truth, he had been sitting in a tree away from frightening or even provoking the creatures. He had heard tales of them being aggressive and territorial.

"Back on Yael, there are a lot of scholars and learners. There are some warriors that protect the villages and those with in them. But a lot of book people." Not that there were anything wrong with being someone who read a lot. It was one way to learn things about the world without venturing out too far from home.

Beowulf glanced at the book that the youth had, pulling a small ball of light closer, he looked at the small drawings of the plants within. They were good for someone as young as they were, improvement was always a thing too. "Those look great, keep practicing and expand some. And don't let others get you down. Not everyone has to be a warrior." He said pointedly. "Scholars are always needed, Dafiel knows that many things become lost within the throws of time."

Ustasis was engrossed with looking at the elder's work. He nodded as he heard his words clearly. There was value in what he liked to do, that much he knew. It was something that made him smile as he thought about it. This elder was a good person. He may not know Ustasis, but the fact that he was willing to help a youngling get a boost of esteem meant a lot.

"Thank you Beowulf." he said softly. "It means a lot to me that you offered words of encouragement."

He bounced for a moment, getting a burst of energy. "Can I show you a hideout?!?"

He had quite a few around here. The waterfall hideout was already shown to one friend, why not another?

After a bit, Beowulf closed his book as the child was wholly engrossed in his drawings. They were ok at best in his own opinion, but if someone else liked them then that was a good thing. Shouldering the strap that held the book, he looked down towards Ustasis once he straightened up.

"Sure, I wouldn't mind seeing your hideout." Beowulf said as he picked up something to dismiss the dancing lights to a lite object. This one cast a bright glow that was enough to brighten the area around them. "Ready whenever you are."

Ustasis beamed as he led the elder through the darkened woods. He was told by his parents that if he was out too long then he'd be in trouble. Right now, he knew he was in the clear. He had another hour...maybe two...before his parents came after him with all intents on punishment. For right now, him exploring was okay. He brought Beowulf to the path that led to the small waterfall.

"There's a waterfall not to far from here. If you take this path, go up to the fork in the road. There's a path to the left which will take you to a clearing. Don't go there...there's some mean bugs over there. Then there's a path to the right." he explained as they reached the fork. "Here at the right."

He walked down the right with a hum. "Don't mind the rock wall. There's not a lot of slimly things that like messing with you."

Holding the glowing stone in his hand to provide light as they walked, Beowulf took note of the directions that the youth was giving him. When they came to the fork in the road, he gave it a pause and looked in the direction that had been said to have "mean bugs". This gave him an itch to scratch, but there was always another time to see what was up with it.

"Mean bugs huh? Well I will be sure to be careful." He nodded before following the youth up the other path and towards the waterfall. "Slimly things?" He asked tilting his head to one side. "Much like algae that may grow from the exposer to the water spray coming from the falls?"

The child nodded. "Just like that!! The wall that water makes!!!" It was a childish way of putting algae but its how he learned about it first. He hummed as he led Beowulf to the curtain of seaweed. "Pass the seaweed..."

He pulled it back with a smile. Showing Beowulf the clearing ahead of them. The semi-circular area was rather large, big enough for a few Limbara to lumber around in at least. The stone was smooth, cut away by water over the years. There was a nearby river that flowed from the mouth of a cave which a walkway went into. There were collections of moss covered rocks scattered around, while the horizon of the clearing was walled off by large rocks..

Ustasis bounced out. "There's a waterfall system that starts from here!!" he pointed to the river. "That flows out from a underground river that I haven't followed to the end of it. I'm scared." he pointed to the cave. "I've gone at least...a half day walk in there. I wanna take my Dad through there, but I'm not sure how safe it is."

Beowulf continued to follow the youth as he looked around at their surroundings. Shifting the strap of his tome over his shoulder he stopped a moment as there was mention of a waterfall system. Tilting his head to one side, he followed Ustasis passed through a curtain of seaweed. He wasn't sure if that was what it was called. They seemed very far from the seas, for that he was grateful for.

Darkness can be quite scary sometimes." Beowulf agreed as he looked around at the cave. It was certainly large enough to be home to someone if they wanted to make it so. Looking towards the direction that the youth had pointed he raised up his lit stone.

"With a bit of light, it can certainly chase the shadows away." He offered, holding out the stone. "Sadly it won't last that long." He frowned slightly, an hour really wasn't long at all, but if he found another with magic, then the spell could be recast. "I can help you explore deeper, if you'd like."

Ustasis gasped as he took the stone in his hands. "Oh thank you, this is amazing!!!"

Magic really was a cool thing, wasn't it? He thought one of his siblings had started to learn Magic. Maybe he could too. It would a great bonding moment and he could make light like this more!!!

He blinked a moment. "Ah...we don't need to. Dad says to be careful about caves. You never know what's in there. I might save exploring it for him later on."

He hummed in thought. "There's a series of shallow pools off to the side there we could look at."

"That light will last about an hour." Beowulf points out as he takes a better look around the cavern that they were standing within. The stepped over towards the walls and picked at a bit of the moss that was growing there. It was a spongy kind of moss that soaked up the water in the area.

"I am sure your father would be more suited for this sort of thing. Don't have many caverns like this back home." He commented, "Though there is a volcano. Fought a large beast in its depths." He wished not to frighten the child with his tale, though it wasn't that big a deal. At the mention of the shallow pools, Beowulf looked back towards Ustasis.

"Oh, got any idea what you might find within the pools?" He inquired, motioning to be shown the way to the pools.
