Personality: Maya is a highly inquisitive Alkidike with a keen eye for detail. To her own tribe of sister's Maya is open and friendly and most would consider her warm and caring. To outsiders, Maya may appear to have little to no emotions at all. She is skilled at keeping her emotions and thoughts buried deep within herself. Thought that isn't to say she wouldn't make friends with just about anyone. Maya tends to enjoy spending most of her day hunting and exploring the forest of Jauhar around her. Though she hears stories Maya rarely takes anything on faith believing she must see the results with her own eyes before a conclusion can be drawn. She is never brash nor thoughtless and will more often think something through before rushing into trouble.

Maya is not always steady, though she is skilled at moving through the upper canopy of the trees. When exited or her concentration is quickly drawn in another direction, this young Alkidike has been known to drop a thing or two through her fingers. Her attention can be diverted rarely if there is something more pertinent to her situation than what she was currently focused on. She favors collecting small flowers and fungi that grow around her home and has been known to store them in her room. She is also a highly independent girl and though she follows rules she will think of the consequences first.

Maya is also a very prideful Alkidike, her tribe must not be able to see her waver in strength or skill and she is always competing to prove her worth. Never the first to end any relationship, she is generally the first to bond them. Through that the young woman is highly protective of her friends and knows her place in the world though she often tests it as she believes the world belongs to her and her sisters. Despite her love of the trees and the feel of the wind through her hair, Maya cannot resist the urge to submerse herself in the waters of her world. Swimming is her favorite pastime next to observing the land around her.

History:As with all Alkidike's Maya was born from the sacred Aisha tree, the home to her kind. Growing up she had formed many friends where she constantly competed in hide and seek, tag, and various other children games. Danger never came to the well protected islands and so Maya had grown up in peace. School she had considered rather fun and interesting though not for the odd disappearance of an Alkidike child who had strayed to far away from home ignoring the safety that had been outlined for them to follow.

Maya was always good at following rules and though she may not be a leader she was highly independent and a few of her friends ended up depending on her from time to time. As she and a few of her friends grew older they had heard of a forest away from the islands where they would be able to explore and survive. Exited by the news Maya and her friends left in a small banded tribe in search of a home in the strange forest of Jauhar. It had taken them several hot months of travel before the group had arrived in front of a rather large Emergent tree. Unsatisfied by the appearance of their first home, Maya set out each day in search of a better tree until she managed to come across one that satisfied her another month later. Some of her friends refused to leave the tree and so Maya and three other girls left for the new found tree.

Life continued for the Alkidike with her "family" unit, until the seasonal festival came to return to the mother tree. As she traveled back like she had every year prior, this time with a different intention. She wanted to be a mother, and she was in luck when she arrived to plead her case. She was granted guardianship over an abandoned bloom. And so Teiluj was born.

Taking the tiny bub with her back to her home. Teiluj was rejected by the other women Maya lived with. Hurt and angry, the woman took her hybrid daughter out into the forest alone. Raising her as her own child, protecting her with everything she could. Trying to teach the child the ways of the Alkidike. Even though it seemed futile with how little of the warrior tribe the tiny girl had in her. She was more earthling than Alkidike.

When the oban war broke out and Maya took sides in the war to protect the mother tree from extremists, she was separated from her daughter. Realizing that she had her own tasks to complete. She had to trust that Teiluj would be safe and well protected with the new Oban she had been tending to.

Trusting that her daughter was in good hands. Maya set out to explore the world. She needed to learn as much as she could about each of the different inhabitants of Tendaji.

Elder Kishku - A very old and energetic Alkidike she traveled with the prentice sisters to care for them and teach them when they left their mother Aisha. She is a source of guidance and comfort to the younger four. Never leaving her home after the hardship that was endured in trying to find it. She cares for the other girls as if they were her daughters and doesn't take kindly to any earthlings. No exceptions made. She does attack on sight, assuming she can still see. Sometimes the girls wonder. She instantly disliked Teiluj when she was brought into the home by Maya. And had been quite violent towards the tiny hybrid


Niebet - Neibet grew up on Chibale isle alongside some of her more precious sisters not the least of which was Maya. Having been older than the other sisters Neibet had ranked up quickly giving Maya something to strive for and a goal to run towards. This was how Neibet first fell in love with the younger Alkidike, though she refused to admit it such. As time passed and the girls had all aged out of younglinghood, Neibet had joined a growing group of sisters which included Maya, and set out to make a home for themselves in Jauhar.

Their first home had started out peacefully but arguments broke out and tensions rose. In order to keep Maya by her side she had whispered into her sister's ear that setting fire to the home and taking the small band with them would be a good idea. When Maya had succeeded in bringing down their first home she was one of the first to volunteer to travel with Maya in search of a new home.

Again life had been rather peaceful there with her sisters. She had the ability to grow closer to Maya until the younger Alkidike had shown feelings for an earthling. Enraged by Maya's choice Neibet had grown increasingly colder to her fellow sisters and her anger refused to subside. The tipping point for her had been when Maya had returned from Aisha with a youngling in her hands, Teiluj. Confessing her feelings to Maya about how much she loved her, it had crushed her when Maya didn't want to return those feelings.

With her anger mounting Neibet traveled back to Aisha where she was met with a very strong willed group of Alkidike lead by the Mystic Aselia. Joining the extremist group had been easy with her strong convictions. It became well known that Neibet would do anything to preserve the old ways, so long as it didn't require her to physically hurt an elder. Words were as good a weapon as any blade, she'd found, though she wasn't as elegant in their crafting as she was dancing with a weapon.

It was a favor to Maya, whom she still cared deeply for, that lead her to meeting the young V'demhe. She thought the child flighty and irresponsible and it gave her no pleasure to babysit her Sister. Thinking of it as a training exercise helped her keep her calm, and tracking down the youngling was almost game-like in its predictability. She was glad that there hadn't been other younglings to escape like her current charge. It came to little surprise to find that she lacked the patience to deal with a youngling, not by herself at least.

Not with her mind filled with images of a child that shouldn't exist and how happy her mother was to be raising her by herself. The rejection still stung, bitter like bile on the back of her tongue. It made her think of just how foolish she'd been, to put her dreams on the one person who would never feel the same as she did. In many subjects as it turned out to be. Neibet was...not fine, but accepting of this fact. It drove her to strengthen herself, both body and mind. Aisha had plans and if this was her will, then Neibet would not question it. It wasn't her place to do so.

Her feelings were reinforced when she ran into Aselia in the market, tensions running high over the situations that had sprung up during her impromptu attempt at youngling watching. If this wasn't a sign that her convictions were correct after all.. well. It still wasn't her place to question a higher power. It took no effort at all to attach herself to the young Mystic, and even less time to rise to the ranks of one of her personal guards.


Teiluj - Maya's daughter. She was abandoned and now belongs under Maya's care. Even if she isn't related by blood they are still a very close mother and daughter. Teiluj believes in all her heart that Maya really is her mother, and her other mother just up and left the two of them to fend for themselves in the harsh world of the Alkidies.

Book - This contains written adventures and experiences Maya has gone through. Its in a strangely pristine condition and is wrapped in three leaves from her home tree.
Bag - Contains four vials filled with various substances from toxins to food on the belt part of the strap. a cloth for bandages or to cover up something if needed. Rope. Book

Legendary Creature Rock Scale - Maya took this from the great beast she had joined forces with the other tribes to kill. She isn't sure what its use could be though she keeps it well prized

Bow and arrows - Maya's bow and arrows, received after becoming a blade
Vial of Toxins - This vial is filled with the liquid poison from Menzuri webs. Dipping your weapon into this vial adds 1 hp of damage to the opponent every other turn.
Berries - deep red in color, small and round no bigger than the size of pebbles. Restores 3 hp but they make you dizzy forcing you to only be able to use no more than two
Kie-ja - A Potion made by hydrating a powder of various berries, roots, and herbs, it is a potent healing elixer, invigorating and disinfecting the wounds of a warrior. It comes at a price, however, as it has toxic properties as well that are exacerbated by activity. It is an excellent aid for the desperate warrior on their last legs... but one would be wise to use it to get out of battle quickly and rest. Heals user back to full... then deals one damage each turn during the battle to the user, as well as 5 additional damage after the battle is over. After the final 5 damage, they no longer take damage.
Bag - An extra one in case it's needed for something. Currently stored in her room alone.
Dye - Several different colors in a strange and pungent goop Changes the color of clothes or items and even weapons. Has no statistical improvement in battle
Barette x2 - A small crystal version of the lotus flowers created by Aisha. She has no intention of using them. They hang as decoration. Amid the flowers to pay homage to her mother.
Cloak - It hangs as a memento though she has no intention of using it. It's a cloak! Made from whatever cloth is available to whomever wishes to make it. It is hooded Offers protection from the sun or any severe weather.(Can also be made with materials to help one blend in to their surroundings easier.(Allows for a cloak edit to your character? Maybe.)
Fetish - A fetish is added to your hair, or clothing. Can be made of bone, stone, plant matter.

Long, pointed ears, black, bug-like eyes, and antennae characterize this completely female species. Standing, on average, between five and six feet, they loom above most Earthlings.

This unique band of sisters originates from Chibale Island. At the center of the island is Aisha, the shimmering, brilliantly blue tree from whose rich, pink, lotus-like flowers every Alkidike is born. A strong-willed tribe of warriors and mystics, they consider themselves to be the oldest species and, thus, have deemed it their duty to explore the entirety of Tendaji.

Although they return to Chibale to breed and perform spiritual rites, the Alkidikes have settled in Jauhar, the rainforest on the mainland. They primarily dwell within the smooth, violet trunks of the tallest, straightest, most awe-inspiring emergent trees in the region. Entrances to their vertical homes are often hidden underground amongst the trees’ deep, intricate networks of roots. The Alkidikes can travel easily through their trees, allowing them to access the upper canopy, where food is particularly abundant.

These women feel entitled to the land and do not appreciate having to share their home with the Shifters. A tension has been created through this dissension that has turned Jauhar into a bloody battle field on more than one occasion.
