Solo 1
She was where she most enjoyed herself, elbow deep in her Father's garden. There were roots that had to be dug up and divided. Some of the plants originating from Oba, (a desert country (oh exciting!)) had to be dug up, treated and stored over the monsoon season or they would rot before the next growing season saw them. Hrafn noticed a cool orange leaf, some of the plants changed color and dropped their leaves to 'sleep' through the seasons they didn't like. Hrafn thought they were quite smart for doing so, she wished she could sleep through the cooler part of the year too, that or read through it. But then who would help Dad weed? Mom? Probably. Ezlynn.. maybe? But she liked helping Dad. She had his green thumb. He had shown them at a young age what to do and she did it for her favorite plants especially so that the weeds didn't suck all the nutrients from them. It was usually the first thing she did after breakfast while it was still cool in the day. Weeding was eternal, there were always plants where you didn't want them and they tended to thrive there, sometimes counterintuitively from where you planted them yourself. After all a weed was just a plant in the wrong spot. Though she did throw out most of the weeded plants as some of them were not edible or they were the kind that if you left them alone they would eat the whole bed and be hungry for more. She couldn't count the times she saw vines creeping optimistically across the path. Usually when she had free time she was either weeding or working in the garden. She liked books and taking notes on things. One could never know when one would need the information. She liked being prepared and able to answer questions.

To her gardening wasn't really a chore, it was something she got to do as a reward when all of her other chores were finished.

A fly buzzed by and distracted her, she waved her hand around. She found the noise both comforting and annoying. Oh well, she was almost done anyway. A fly would not scare her off her mark, she was too good for that. She dug up and separated the last roosts and protected them with wrap, until her Dad could inspect them. She placed them in the potting shed out of the sun with the doors and windows open for air flow. This way they would not dry out or get too hot.
Her Dad liked to keep tabs on things and the garden was all the better for it.

They were always welcome to go to him or mama with questions, that greatly encouraged her and allowed her to learn that much quicker. Next, she plucked an apple from one of the fruit trees for a snack. It was so very good, crisp, sweet, fresh and juicy. She would have to remember to ask her dad what variety it was. She ate two more for good measure. Then she went inside, she waved at her parents and sprinted into her room to look at her books. There were about twelve of them, three of which she had not read and was excited to see. She stroked a loving hand over the smooth leather covers. Books were like friends that ever patiently waited for you to visit them. She liked that about books. They were quiet too, making only comforting noises like page turns and solid thumps on the desk. All that weight of knowledge, so handy, so convenient. Squinting, she picked the one with the dark forest green cover. It was her favorite color. She flipped the book over and read the gold title embossed on the front "Wandering Folk and Where to Find Them" Cool! What a whimsical book. Her mom had probably gotten it for her, she patted it and looked about her room. Did she need anything else for this adventure?

Solo 2
She stalked stealthily around the garden looking for her favorite furry friend, her father's Radaku who had roamed his garden after a most eventful trip to the Jauharan rainforest. Now didn't that sound like a cool place? She wasn't sure how her daddy's friends had managed to get him away from all the rare and exotic plants that must have been there. Dad had a bit of an obsession, one which she understood, she liked plants too, after all. She flopped underneath the fluffy leaf cover belonging to a very large pumpkin vine that had taken over the western portion of the yard.

It was good shelter from the sun which still had punch. Soon the skies would close in with heavy clouds and the stormy season would commence and well everything would be well watered at least. The rains would come to blanket the land with breaks in between but at best the earth would get to not damp before being sprinkled over again. It was a rejuvenating if muddy time all told. She of course disliked mud, at least in excess and during monsoon season mud was everywhere. At least it was still pleasant to put around the garden now. There was a bit more to be done before the season changed.

The whole family was conscripted into deseeding things. seeds were a safeguard and a currency and more treasured than both. Her dad said that growing the same plant year after year was like seeing an old friend again. An old friend that eventually adapted to this specific place. They all had different likes and dislikes. It was so much more complicated than just plugging the ceiling into the dirt. Now where was he? She should be around here somewhere. She threw her head back and howled calling her friend to her instead of doing it the hard way. Soon enough, she heard him galloping full tilt through the leaf litter. Soon enough his long snoot was poking out from underneath a large leaf, doggy smile firmly in place. She grinned.

"Hi there, boy. Where were you? I couldn't find you."
She scratched the back places behind his ears. "Who is a good boy? Did you guard the garden? Yeah? I brought you a treat." She gave him a special biscuit that her dad had given her for the radaku. He ate it happily. It looked awfully dry to her but it was easier to keep in your pocket than a steak. Which was his other favorite treat. Want to go for a run boy? She asked and took off the radaku playfully at her heels so she giggled. He never hurt her, always nipping just the right place in her shoe. She loved this beasty so much. It was a good protector and gentle playful companion. She needed that especially when Ezlynn was too busy. She loved her brother so much, he was like an instant friend. No take backs, all the better that he was family. She just adored him. He was so very comforting with his presence. She wished she was cool like he was. She raced from one corner of her father's garden to the other with her radaku friend. Eventually s he was lying down panting fast. But still with some energy. She flopped in a wobbly heap over his lovely soft furred back. She felt sorry for the kids who didn't have a yard she had a whole huge garden.
Daddy expanded it every year too.It was getting quite huge now. She lived such a charmed childhood, mama had connections to the giant beast ranch and daddy as well. Though she was related and dad was a longtime family friend. She wondered what Mommy and Daddy were up to. She might just close her eyes and have a nap right here in the back of the garden on the still panting radaku who occasionally bent his head around and made sure that she was okay with a face lick or two before turning back forward to guard against intruders to his garden. It wasn't his homeland, but it was good enough. It almost had enough plants though Ky had spoiled him too. He had a den that was foliated for shelter and privacy with the odd flower as disguise. It was home and this garden had been his home since he was a pup for a long time. It had just been him and his water tribe earthling then. Of course, after he'd given up hope, Fajra had joined them, he had liked the gentle and kind leaf lady. Then of course had come the two cubs and their pack had expanded again. He laid his great fangs head down on his great big paws and licked his lips then sighed. The girl small girl draped over his furry back had fallen asleep a while ago, he had noticed the change in her breathing. it'd become deep and regular, that and the teeny hands that had been clutching his fear relaxed finally.

Solo 3
Hrafn awoke with a muzzy head. Maybe she was coming down with a cold, but for right now it wasn't bad enough to hold her back. It was a very special day in spring, the day of the first planting. Something celebrated most ardently by herself and her father. She loved the garden just as much as he did, she also loved the sea and painting and wandering and running around. Going to the apothecary was fun, sometimes she accompanied her Dad to the shop so they could drop off herbs and some of their homemade salves. The salves always sold well and were consistantly in demand. Her Dad had shown her how to make them and she was experimenting with different herbal based scents for it. It was very fun to use the plants they had grown. It was a full cycle thing. You planted one seed and babysat it for about 9 months and then in return you got a lot of seeds and a useful fruit or useful leaves to do with as you pleased and thus securing the next years garden with a few added benefits! She was not a fan of the spicey peppers her Dad grew and was always happy to see them go at the little market stand they had so they were not incorporated into dinner any more often than neccessary. She was more of a savoury flavored creature anyway. She hummed and dragged herself out of the bed to go to the bathing area. It was a lovely area with rockwork and a good privacy screen. It always made her feel much more alive after soaking herself with water. She wasn't much unlike the plants she looked after. She needed sun and water and food, she just had a different method of aquiring it than plants and she got to move around and follow the sun and find what she needed instead of relying on the good nature of nature. She felt better after the shower perhaps she wasn't coming down with that cold? If she did her Mother would look after her but she wouldn't be allowed in the garden as she longed to be on this special spring day. It called to her with an irresistable pull. She got dressed and grabs her bundle of seed that had been picked out for months for just this moment. The sun had risen and it was time to garden! She paused at the little shrine they had and lit an incense. Then she folded herself up and prayed for a good growing year, her pile of seed before her. She stayed for a while, making sure that her prayers were good ones before she rose from her knees, grabbed her seeds and literally ran into the garden. It was still a bit of a sleepy place this early in spring with most of the beds bare, but she and her Dad would fix that over the next few months, they mostly started their plants from seed but some were indeed bought from other producers. There were a few that they didn't specilize in that were popular with the public but dreadfully hard for them to grow from seed themselves due to whatever special needs that they were just not equipped for.

Solo 4
Today felt different for her. She had a surplus of excess energy and she wanted to go out...gasp..beyond the garden. That was not typical but her Dad said that it was always good to look at other gardens because you might find something you really like and could incorporate into your own yard after all. She was hungry now for fresh ideas. She had spent so much of her youth scrabbling about the garden. She whistled by the back garden gate and her faithful radaku friend had come to her call. She adored him so very much. Maybe Daddy would let him have puppies one day and she could have her own. This good boy she had to share with her brother after all. He was their devoted protector and listened really well. Dad must have worked on his obedience rather than letting him just marinate for years out in the garden. He was starting to get a bit of grey around his snoot and she was somewhat concerned with that. Dad better find his radaku a gf soon or Hrafn might never get a puppy.

She marched down the trail bold as brass with a bit of allowance rattling about her pocket. She could use it for food, art supplies or a good book? Perhaps a notebook? There were just too many choices. She giggled. Ezlynn was busy this morning so it was just her and the death puppy. On the plus side the local bully boys would avoid her for a change with the fanged one beside her. She was so grateful for his companionship. Especially if her own brother could not come, two people made for better protection than one alone. Kind of like how fishies always seemed to swim in schools unless you were a really big fishy.

She wanted to be a big fishy one day so that no one picked on her. Kids were cruel and she had heard tales from their neighbors kids about how mean some of the local yokels were. They in her most professional opinion needed a good spanking. She and her brother were certainly not allowed to perform such terrible and uncouth behaviors as bullying. She was grateful that she was allowed to get rather muddy so long as she washed off promptly at the outdoor faucet that always had the clearest most wonderful drinking water that she shared with the plants in the garden. She loved giving them water. It was a good time to think about what she wanted to do during the day. Her Dad called it 'meditative,' whatever that meant. She suspected she would understand it some day. She was too young to need meditation apparently.

She passed a few shops but something made her keep walking. She walked and she walked until she came upon a small hut. Surrounded by plants but these were markedly mostly herbs with the occassional beautiful tall bloomed hollyhocks scattered throughout here and there. It had an interesting, distinctly cottage garden event. She decided to be brave and knocked on the door to inquire about whosever's garden it was and to ask if they were perhaps a cook?

The door opened and a middle aged but still beautiful Matorian woman opened the door and looked down. "Yes? What is your ailment?"

"OH! That makes more sense, you are a healer!" She blushed then an apologized for her outburst. "Sorry I had just come across your yard and wondered if you might be a cook or something, because of the sheer number and variety of herbs you have. I like the wild and untamed look it has. It makes a lot of sense that you are a healer with all of these herbs. Good that you have a green thumb as well as a healing hand, a potent mix no doubt." She felt safe around a healer they were too busy fixing people to be a threat to a young girl and her radaku.

"I really like your hollyhocks, Daddy doesn't have any so dark." She liked weird flowers, the more unique the better. The blooms looked to be dark black they were such a deep purple.

The lady tilted her head smiled and said, "Wait here." Then she disapeared into the cozy hut that had a small fire going for heat and probably to make some salve or whatever else healers did over fires.

The woman came back and handed her a little paper packet. "Last years seeds, please enjoy. It was refreshing to have someone visit just to compliment my garden and not because of a scraped knee or something in their eye." the woman opened one eye quite large and pointed at it.

"They are simple to grow, just like the other hollyhocks, your Dad wouldn't happen to be the owner of that huge garden on the edge of town would he? You have his hair and eyes. He supplies me with herbs, usually the rarer ones. Tell him thank you for me." She smiled. "I must go, I have something over the fire but thank you for stopping by, please do so again sometimes, we could have tea and gossip." It was hard to make friends sometimes as a healer, everyone needed you but most didn't want you around. It was like they thought she would bit them, it was preposterous. However the girl had totally brightened her day. "Nice radaku." She disapeared again inside.

Hrafn thanked her for the seeds and continued her walk. This was better than anything she could have gotten with money before she had left the yard she had gotten a better look at the flowers she now had seeds for. They were amazingly cool and she couldn't wait to plant these seeds with Daddy.

Well it had finally happened. It turned out Dad hadn't needed to find his radaku a girlfriend, she just sort of moved into the garden with the male and a den was built inside his living quarters, she tolerated the children upon the advice of the male. Hrafn often wondered who she belonged to, but was in no hurry to find the owner. Mom and Dad knew she was there and that was what mattered. Hfran was eager to see the results of the radaku courtship that had played out so beautifully in their yard, with the male bringing little treats and bits of bedding to the female, showing her that he would make a good mate for the eventuality of pups. The kids didn't take him away from her during this time, respecting the romance there. After all they had come from their parents love and puppies were always a good thing! Hrafn checked every day and finally she started to see the sides of the female start to swell. "Aha!" They were in business, Hrafn brought her scraps saved from the dinner table hoping to make sure the lady radaku had the nutrition she needed.

Hrafn too did not stray too far from the radaku for the next few months until it was time for the puppies to come into the world, she had a front row seat for the show and so long as she kept quiet the radaku did not mind her presence. By now they knew that Hrafn was by no means a threat to them or their young she was indeed another protector for what it was worth even through she was quite small herself.

She would help as much as she could with the puppies in the clear hope that her parents might let her keep one or two..or all of them. Dare to dream. She loved the male radaku that besides her dear brother was her very best friend and he was getting a bit old to be running around with her everywhere she went, he also escorted her brother quite a bit. She was happy that he had finally found a mate and that his line got to continue. He was a pretty beast and she was so looking forward to seeing what their pups looked like. The female seemed to have a good even temperament she had obviously been loved in her previous home. She often wondered what the circumstances were that had driven her away, perhaps her master had moved without her or had passed away. Radaku were usually quite loyal beasts once they learned who their bonded was. It wasn't uncommon for them to greive for lost humans just as hard as the family members of those lost humans. She was sweet and calm a perfect match for their good boy and a great genetic potential for the pups. She wondered how many puppies would be in this litter and if there would indeed be more litters after this one. She was discovering that after plants her second love was radaku.

She started noticing the female being more restless than normal and working on the nest that the pair had set up in the well hidden radaku den in the garden. She would pace back and forth, remove a piece of fluff here and there then tuck it back in with her big pointed snoot. Then she would lay back down and huff, eventually Hrafn started to notice the contractions that were well spaced at first but became more strenuous and closer together as time moved on. After a while she began to see why they called it labour and she sort of felt bad that their mother had had to go through this with them, though Dad assured her it was a little bit different for people than critters the basics were the same.

Eventually she was able to see the bulge behind the tail that heralded the arrival of the first pup, after the long lead up the birth of the first pup seemed to go rather fast and immediately after birth the mother licked the pup up. The papa radaku had gone to lie behind Hrafn as he knew he could not really help his mate at this point. Instead he provided a bit of warm furry back support to the little girl who had been a part of his life nearly since the day she herself was born and able to crawl around in the dirt. He loved his life and his little rakaku heart was overfilled with joy that this was happening. He was becoming a Dad.

Eventually there were seven pups all neatly in a row, washed off and suckling their most exhausted mother. Hrafn and the father watched in a sort of contented spell as the mewlings of new life filled the den with its magic. She could not be more excited if she had tried.

Finally the pups were old enough to find new homes and Daddy was going to let her chose two for herself. She was so very excited that she vibrated with energy as she took two dark blue collars out to the den so that her chosen pups did not get picked by someone else only to cause confusion and pain for all involved later when she bit them to keep the promised puppers home with her where she belonged. She had put in a lot of time and work in addition to her regular garden contributions to make this happen and she was excited to start training the pups.

She greeted the mother and was swarmed by the eager babies. She promptly put one of the collars which was in her favorite color on a toxic green looking male with bright blue spots like a poison dart toad. He was a kind and good boy if a bit full of excess energy. He had been her favorite nearly from the start and had maintained that spot in her heart so he was the first awarded a solid, secure and loving home with her. Daddy would make sure that any pups that didn't stay with the family would go to good homes.

The next pup in line was something of a draw, there was a nice brownish female that had a good temperament but was also a bit boring she was so bland and a black male with white feet and white fawn spots on his coat and red eyes, he was a handful and full of energy, he would take twice the amount of work that the poison male did but she didn't mind. Eventually after much pondering and petting Hrafn chose to keep the black fawn spot male as well. She would put in the time and effort that another may not, resulting in a rehoming, Buck and Poison as she named them were too good for that. She felt right when she fastened the second blue collar around Buck's neck. "My two good boys," she shook her finger at them, "Or at least you will be with a great deal of work."

She knelt and hugged the two radaku who affectionately nipped and pulled at her clothes. "You two are the very best ya know?" She couldn't think of a time when she had been happier than this. She had lifelong companions. She payed her respects to their mother with a treat or two and then loved on her Father's radaku who had been her first radaku love, now he could father more puppers and retire in peace once these babies were old enough to escort her. No doubt her brother may want one or two as well. She wasn't sure that her mother would. Dad was going to build another den for the two radaku she was keeping, it would be easy enough to expand should any other family want to partake in the puppy crazyness that had so consumed her for months and months.
Training began soon after her selection of puppies. She spent some time with the radaku after every morning garden session with a handful of treats and a lot of patience. It was small efforts over long periods of time that seemed to have the most effect on training of critters. She supposed it probably helped with kids too until they could fully understand language and be told with words. However even for her some lessons had to be from experience not just from her parents telling her. She kept that in mind and noticed often the animals would not get it the first day or even the second day but often enough if given time for the wanted info to sink in they perked up and got it the next training session.

Slowly over time they became stand up members of the family and she guided them through the awkward chew on everything teen and puppy years. Her heart was now very full and she couldn't love them more if she tried.

Fathomless Warlock Summoner Solo
Hrafn had done something a bit rash and unexpected. She had heard about a very fancy plant only found in the Kahi islands and before her parents knew where she had gone she had taken her two radaku and booked a long journey by ship. She stayed with those radaku the whole time, trained from puppies they were well behaved and served as excellent guard animals, the older she got the more adventurous she became. The trip had been long but she had had her furry friends with her so it was not too bad. She would probably get supreme heck when she got home, but Dad wouldn't have been able to take the time off to investigate this lead in the busy spring season. She thought she would use the trip to help her really think about what she wanted to do career wise.
The food bell had rung and she had gone to get a plateful. Her critters had already eaten and it was just about the only time she left their side. She had arranged for them to be in her cabin with her cot. She had used a few months allowance for the trip there and back but it was a good ship of good repute. She would be safe enough. The radaku were a precaution. Her Mama worried about everything but the older Hrafn got the more adventurous and free spirited she became, the more antsy. She wanted to go places and to see places and the Kahi islands were safe enough for a prentice to go, even if she would likely stick out pretty bad. Her and her off continent pets.

The sea was so beautiful from out here and she paused at the rail with her plate of food to just look out at it. She knew she wanted to choose a magic path, and had thought that a nature style summoner would have matched her well, but she didn't need help to grow plants and neither did her Dad. What she hadn't expected as much was how much the sea and its mysterious power seemed to call to her. Storms were cool but it was the sea itself that spoke to her. One of the beast ranch boys had become a Fathomless Warlock type summoner and was doing rather well with it. Something clicked right there on the ship at the rail at sea. That was what she would do, once she returned from her super secret quest she would return and try to find a teacher, perhaps the same one that had taught that boy. The would suffice. She grinned at the sea and for once it was a real expression not one put on to appease her shiply neighbors that she was an airhead, which she wasn't. She was in that somewhat broody stage of teenagerdom that plagued most.
Her brother did not completely understand her as the older she got the more she changed. In reality she was just trying to pursue that which brought her joy. Dad sort of understood she thought, maybe not the broodyness but the thoughts and direction behind why she did what she did. She loved her family to little bits. All of them. Mother was so beautiful, dad was solid and earthy and her brother was the sweetest boy. But there was just so much more out there beyond that garden gate. Radaku for one thing, she thought a janarim would make a fine pet too. She wondered if she would have enough coin to buy a pet or two from this new place?

She got to her cabin and ate with her radaku, the captain thought that after many many days of travel they would be arriving soon and she was excited to get out and stretch her legs and enjoy a whole new culture.

She wasted little time when they docked and got herself and her critters off that boat and onto firm land where her legs felt like they were still on the water. That was a most fascinating sensation but on the plus side she had not gotten sea sick the whole ride, some of the other passengers had not been so lucky as she and she had tried to stay away from the retching noises which bothered her more than the waves ever did.
The thing she noticed first was the scent of the air and how fresh it seemed, more over the floral notes where different from back home, when you spent so much time in the garden you noticed these things. She sighed and then inhaled deeply of the new air. Next was the colors on everything, the palette was different and she was very excited.
There was just so much new here and she found every difference fascinating and exciting to an extent. She was free from her home for the first time but she had not realized she had needed to escape occassionaly in order for the spice of life that was travel to brighten her mindset.
She began walking, noticing that she was very short in comparison to almost everyone else, even the kahi younglings were tall. Now that she was here she had to go in search of this special flower so she kept an eye out for market gardens and florists. Preferably she would want seeds as they would weather the process of getting home as a gift to her Dad that much easier. He deserved all of the pretty things and then after him she would have to think of a good gift for her mother, perhaps she could get her an Ez something from here as well. Hmmm. First of all though she would have to find lodging for herself and her critters it needn't be too fancy but she was hoping for something with four walls at the very least. She followed her nose to the food and from there to the places where people stayed and ate, the decor was striking and she wondered in which part of Kahi she had landed.
She found a room at an Inn and once inside her chamber with her two faithful pets she flopped on her back on the bed and tried to relax after the biggest adventure she had ever had. Next time maybe she would bring her brother or one of her cousins from the ranch. This first time solo travel could be a bit nervwracking. Though it was safe for prentices to travel, stuff could still happen, she would feel much better once she was able to work that ocean magic, it would be highly affective out here where there was just so much ocean all around. She would definitely be coming back to this place again in the nearish future, if her Mama ever let her out of her room again when she got home. She was sure her Dad would understand he went on adventures when he was young and darn it so did Mom or she would have stayed in Tale.
She was mid to mildly worried about the scolding when she got home but the travel itself had been worth it for sure! She was invigorated and enlivened when she was out but for now she deserved to have a nap on a bed that stayed stationary. Sea travel was lumpy to say the least.
She invited her radakus up on the bed which was large enough for them all and promptly fell asleep with them in a pile, her or them occassionally twitching as they feel under. She was safe, she was warm and her little hands gripped the two furballs gently as a reasurance like big fangy teddy bears they were. She took deep breaths and eventually landed in dreamland where she was back in her parents garden and eating food and then on the ocean again in her little cabin and fish swam through stars below the old wooden sailing ship that had brought her so far to these new lands. Though she must say that the dream ride was less wavey. Maybe on her way back she would try her hand at deck fishing or some of the other activities on board the ship the more she could get herself used to the ocean she figured the better it would be for her summuner career.

Upon awaking she and her critters felt refreshed and she ate at the Inn, the food was strange but good, before heading to the market to get some food for her friends. She hoped there was meat or fish, though there should be fish, that at least the radaku pair would like. Meat was always a safe bet. She had little trouble and took great care in individually feeding them as it worked to strengthen the bond. She missed their Dad but he was a bit old for such travel and was already working on the next set of pups for them, a fitting retirement for such a regal beast in her opinion.
