I'm finally pregnant again! We didn't have to try at all for the little guy, but this new one, we've been trying for about two years. I was starting to collect recommendations for fertility specialists. xp But now I can pitch them! Yippee!!! I'm due Thanksgiving day, but I'm hoping I deliver a week or two early, like last time. That way I can gorge on the holiday, and everybody can oogle over my new snugglet. Sorry, I'm not really offering a lot of discussion opportunities, but I'm just so thrilled that after so long trying I'm going to be a mommy of two!

Thank you guys! And no, Pinkee, I'm not going to find out the sex. I was supposed to be a boy, so in my family it's a tradition not to bank on anything. Yes, I know technology is better now. I still enjoy the suspense.
I'm so excited, I actually got my first wave of nausea this afternoon! Yes, I know, it's weird to be excited about feeling queasy, but I am. Now I just have to wait and see if all the people telling me it's triplets are right... stare

Yvaine Thank you guys! Now I just have to wait and see if all the people telling me it's triplets are right... stare We didn't find out the gender of our first either. I had the feeling it was a girl so Hubby was a little dissapointed when the baby was delivered and it was indeed a girl. *laughs* So he decided that he wanted to find out in advance this time. I personally didn't really care one way or the other (if we found out or left it a surprise).
*laughs* I wouldn't say I was excited when I got that first wave of nausea, but I was relieved. My very first pregnancy was a miscarriage (at about 7 weeks) and I wasn't sick with that pregnancy at all. My pregnancy with my daughter (as well as with this pregnancy) I was sick. That's the way my mom was too. All the pregnancies that she miscarried she didn't get sick with. The pregnancies that she got sick with she had healthy babies. So as much as nausea (and especially vomiting) isn't fun it's a good sign. wink
Why would people be telling you it's triplets? confused

Jenannen Why would people be telling you it's triplets? confused I don't know. And that's what bothers me. One of my mom's friends, a mother of twins, said something about it right off the bat. My mom jumped on the bandwagon for fun. A lady at a wedding who didn't even know I was pregnant started talking to me - randomly - about triplets. My bro-in-law, a dentist who is not prone to weirdness, asked if it ws triplets first, then mentioned having a dream a week previous (when I should have gotten my period) that I was pregnant. My husband is so tickled with the idea he started looking up extra names on the internet. It's funny for everyone to threaten a mom-to-be with the idea of twins, so a lot of people do it, and that wouldn't have scared me. It's the way everybody seems to mention triplets right off the bat that has me worried. It's...odd. Fortunately for my own peace of mind, I have a very clear idea that it's just one, and probably a girl. I've heard the idea of more nausea being a good thing before, but frankly I didn't have much nausea with my first baby either - just the occasional wave of "get that food away from me". What I *did* have, which I am now starting on again, is seriously impressive belching. Everybody remembers me having these ground-shaking numbers from last time, and the SILs giggle every time I burp now. redface

Wow, that would be weird having so many people bring it up. If you're really concerned about it though your OB should be willing to do an ultrasound to check for multiples at your first appointment.
That's good! With this pregnancy I got into serious problems with nausea. It got into something called Hyperemesis Gravidarum. I'd had to go into the ER for IVs before I even had my first OB appointment, and at that appointment I was put on home IVs. Then we had to "play" with the insurance everytime I needed a refill on nausea meds. *shakes head at memories* It was insane.

eek Wow, I can't imagine going on an IV! ...You do know that that condition name is just Latin for "prolific vomiting due to (or during, I'm bad at declensions) pregnancy", right? I love it when condition names are so prosaic. I also love knowing enough Latin to catch it.
Oh jeez, and it turns out btw that my BIL's dream did specify that I was having triplets. I'm not sure I like him anymore... crying I think I'll probably be asking the midwife to check for multiples when I go in. Even if it sounds weird to say it's because of somebody else's dream, I'd rather find out early on that it's just one and be able to relax.

Hurray! I'm only having ONE BABY!!!! And yes, AM, I know exactly how you feel - relieved, but kind of wistful because another baby (or two) would've been more babies, and I love my babies. Makes perfect sense.
The beauty part of all this is that I went to the midwife and expected reassurance. Instead, she told me my uterus was on the large side, was I sure I had my math right, and she was sending me for an early sonogram to check for multiples. I spent the intervening week making sure my sister hadn't gotten rid of her old crib, vomiting, and mentally cursing all those people wishing triplets at me. Oh, and she also wanted me to get a lump in my breast checked out. No worries, right? eek At least my best friend got a good laugh out of it. (Her story: new *surprise* baby, mom died of cancer a few months ago, and she can't eat anything her other two daughters were allergic to while nursing the new one - eggs, dairy, nuts, shellfish. And her sister still needs her to babysit.)
Oh yes, they couldn't find the lump at all when I got it checked out. So good news all around, really. My husband still swears he saw hints that there was a second ninja-baby hiding behind the one we saw, but I think he's just doing it to annoy me. stare
