“How long have you been a stray away from your home?”Erytheia had tracked it down again and it had slipped past him again. The knight felt like he was playing a game with it at this point. Or maybe he was projecting and it was just hard to find something that could become stone in this city. Still, that felling of deja vu had been oh-so-present lately and he could not help feeling like he’d done this before. And he had. Why couldn’t past demons stay dead? ✪

'Better' was a dubious thing, but loathe as Roka was to admit it, physically they had recovered somewhat from when they had first come to Earth. They were still hungry (certainly they would always be hungry; perhaps it might never stop), but that was to be expected. As for liking this world -- it was an improvement from Roka itself. Like didn't factor into it.
But it had no shortage of fools to play with, and that wasn't unpleasant. People who had never known them didn't need to be surprised by how they'd changed; they wouldn't know any of the lie for what it was.
"Looking for something?" Roka said to the Knight, a little raspy as always, approaching him at a quick clip -- more of a fast, purposeful walk than a sprint, but somehow still managing to come off as unbothered, unstressed. Those colors and that uniform... a Cosmos Knight, then; their memories were not so torn they'd fail to recognize that distinctive look for what it was. And -- for a second they wanted to say he was young, for a full-grown Knight, but though it was hard to tell in the dim light he looked to be about the same age as they might've been before they'd stopped. Not so young, then.

“Yes. You didn’t happen to see a strange little creature around here?”Erytheia smiled. The senshi was welcome. A second set of eyes could only help. He looked around again seeming distracted by whatever it was he hoped to find. “Erytheia. You?”✪

"Not recently, aside from you, but I did only just arrive." They smiled - brief, insincere, flickering across their face before it was gone. That was one of the easiest things to generate, especially if it didn't need to look sincere and if it was only there for half a second. Roka clasped their hands behind their back, leaning a few degrees forward onto the balls of their feet, flattening down that desire to start moving and never stop into one smooth line of motion from head to toes; their braid had been knotted up on the back of their head today to fold it, in a way that would've been terrible to try and undo if they hadn't been able to cheat with magic.
"Roka." They paused for just a second - there was no way in the world some Knight of Cosmos they didn't know from the people on the street might know their name, but they had known Cosmos Knights; it wasn't entirely impossible. They just needed to cover all corners. "A pleasure. What are you searching for?"

“Well, they are a bit hard to describe, accounting for the fact they are really good at looking like pavement.”Erytheia smiled. It was foolish to ask if Roka had seen any. The knight could barely find them and he was actively looking. “They look kind of like gargoyles. They started appearing during the summer festival. I thought we’d taken care of them then.” He looked up and a small creatures shifted and then quickly hid behind a lamp post. “Clearly, we hadn’t.”✪

"The summer festival...?" They let their voice lift a slight bit on the last few syllables, implying a question without caring to commit all the way to it. "What happened there? I was... indisposed." Yes, that was ambiguous enough, that was good enough; if he cared to know any more, he might ask, and then Roka could dripfeed information bit by bit. Better to limit what a stranger knew of them. It was only natural, to want that he know very little, to want to control what he knew.
They looked up, following his gaze, and lightly raised one eyebrow at the perception of abbreviated motion. So there was something there, after all; it didn't look too large, which was a good sign.
"Are they aggressive?"Meighei slamming this post into wordcounter because i remembered i need to hit a 500 word minimum. if you see me going back and editing my earlier 2 posts to add an extra 100 words in per, Don't Worry About It

“The Star Festival. It happens here in Destiny City every summer.”Erytheia had noted they had fins on arrival. But he just now remembered it. It was possible Roka didn’t know about the area festivals. It reminded him of when he had spent time in Japan and how it had taken him some time to learn everything about it. It was like that, he supposed, except it was all of Earth. “Indisposed? Well,” Erytheia knew better to pry. “Have you been here long? These creatures we’re hunting aren’t super aggressive, but they’ll attack if they see an opening. They haven’t been here on Earth for very longer, either. They seem to have come from a different dimension. Some, however, seems to have escaped into the city somehow.”✪

"Not so very long a time," Roka said dismissively, "only a month or two." Had it been that long already? Their grasp of days was still a slight bit weak, but from what they remembered of checks of the calendar -- yes, a month, a month and a half, somewhere in that range.
Indisposed he wasn't going to pry into, it seemed, which was for the best. Even with a lie it would've been difficult to explain. Come that time, they hadn't been much of... anything.
"Then they'd best be dealt with." They leaned forward, trying to get a better angle on the one that'd slipped behind the lamp post -- "Their numbers?" Important context to have. Certainly Roka could walk away, but they were restless for some variety of battle, even something so light as this.

“Not long, huh?” Erytheia wondered if they were doing okay. Part of him wanted to shelve the whole ordeal of tracking the last of these creatures down. Grab the senshi, become Yuri again, open up the cafe and offer them a tea. “There’s just one left that I know of. I’ve already sent quite a few back to their dimension. This last one though seems to be toying with me. I suppose it doesn’t want to go home just yet. It wants to stay here.”✪

Roka made a noise of faint assent at Not long, huh?, efficiently scanning the area. Had it left while they'd been distracted by him? It didn't seem so -- the weight of stone wasn't so quiet, their eyes weren't so poor in the dark, that they would've missed it. They had some considerable talent at hunting, at waiting in unmoving silence for a body to finally come into the open --
There.
Wordlessly, Roka called their magic, taking off before the water had even finished veiling their limbs. It made them fast, and that was what they needed, unreliable as it had been lately; even now they could feel it was more power than it should've granted them at this level of strength, something closer to their Super magic, and for that it was going to drain them. The gargoyle might've tried to run, but it wasn't much use: at its size, it was at a perfect height for Roka to catch it with a snapping kick, grinding its body into the ground as it broke with perhaps a little too much enjoyment.
"What a shame it is to want," they said, mildly, and drove their heel down into the pile of rocks just to verify the creature was well and fully dead.Meighei Roka's Current: Roka gestures, and their lower arms and legs are covered in veils of water that manifest out of thin air. Anyone who touches the water generated by this attack will temporarily experience the feeling of being trapped in a rip current and dragged under; this may include feeling as if they're tumbling head over heels, being dragged down and away, being unable to breathe, drowning, etc. This magic is primarily an agility boost -- the debilitating effect only lasts as long as a person makes contact with Roka, although at player discretion they may be affected for longer. While this magic is active, Roka's agility and speed are increased considerably, including acceleration.

Erytheia watched Roka as they summoned their magic. He shouldn’t have been surprised that the Deep Space senshi was so comfortable in its use. Still, having the long range and healing magic he did, it always impressed him when someone with the exact opposite tool set showed their skills. Roka was quick and into the thick of things before Erytheia had time to draw his bow. It was only when the thing was already on the floor that he sent a quick arrow into the stone. Better to be sure it was gone. “A more direct approach was clearly needed.” Erytheia smiled at the ease in which Roka had dispatched of it. “Or perhaps I didn’t want it to go as much as I thought I did.”He inspected the crumble of stone and felt the creatures presence in this world vanish. “It didn’t injure any, did it? If so, I can heal you up.” ✪

The magic might not have been necessary, Roka was willing to admit to themself, but if they'd had that little beast scurry out of their range -- it would have been embarrassing, perhaps, or at least it would've colored his perception of them in a way they didn't find desirable. Image was everything. The better he thought of them, the more they could potentially use him for, if they ever did so.
Efficiency was an easy way to impress. And they had been restless, in that way that was often best-salved by hunting for prey; this was by no means enough, but it was something.
"No chance." Still, they extended one arm to him, just shy of touching; rotated it, so that he might see there were no rips in their glove, their sleeve; retracted it, before he might get any ideas about physical contact that was not on their terms.

“Ah. I see.” The knight said, not reaching out for any touching. Roka seemed all business and Erytheia could respect that. He was curious, but it looked like today he would remain so. Still, he couldn’t help but offer a little bit of hospitality. “Well, if you ever need a place to rest or just be, there’s a cafe a couple blocks from here called the Nekosuke. I heard they have good coffee and tea. Thanks for your help.”✪

Roka made a noise of affirmation, mmh, tipping their head in acknowledgement. "I see." Their days weren't so busy they wouldn't waste a little time to discover a little more about this cafe; as it went, good coffee and tea was an easy way to set them at ease. Not that they were ever at ease -- or ever weren't at ease, what were they thinking about right now, they weren't quite sure -- but it was something.
With a final nod and what might have been a (mocking?) little bow to him, they turned on their heel and went; not back the way they'd came, but up a fire escape and onto the rooftops, scaling it with an understated, well-practiced sort of efficiency.Meighei sorry, i lost all my ability to write rp tags over halloween. went into the moon or something. reverse werewolfed it. fin on yours?

Erytheia waved, unsure if he would bow too. Deep Space senshi were odd, but he liked them. He hoped he’d see them again. ✪
