”Simple enough… and quite a waste of time…”, Alyxandr thought as the written portion of the exams came to a close. The combat portion was next, and he had already chosen his opponent.
Approaching Falezure, amber eyes regarded the near-stranger in a way that could be interpreted as interest or contempt.
”You and I are unlike the others here… Shall we show them what the Hidden Soul is capable of? I challenge you, Swallower… what say you?”
His blade was already drawn and in his hand, held to his side as if he had drawn it without even knowing, as if his body were anticipating the coming combat more desperately than even his mind, which hungered for death. Always.

Faluzure simply accepted the first one that came across to him without even a resemblance of emotion nor any sort of care. He was here just to fight now, and that was what he would do. His opponent made their way into the arena and turned around to begin speaking to him, already drawing their weapon into their hand in the process. Faluzure made no mind of this, he had not even taken the common curtesy to confirm who it even was that he was fighting at this given time. His dull red eyes only moving to look at the opponent as he took a single step forwards towards them. From all around them, three different rifts in the very fabric of existence would tear forth. First a figure appearing no different from Faluzure himself, despite the translucent body and equally emotionless expression. The figure would hurl a chain from the depths of the void that it was emerging from, barbed hook sailing through the air with the intention of snagging right into the opponent's skin. The second rift would have a similar result, a pink haired female emerging, burns clearly present across her arms and parts of her torso, as she released her own barbed chain from a different angle with the intention of repeating the process of the first. The last rift that opened possessed the translucent form of a young blond female, her own chain trailing forth as she looks upon the apparent avatar of Death that the three of them were targeting. Each soul weapon attacking at fundamentally the same time, and each attempting to snare their target with their gruesome hooks as a portion of their attack. Faluzure stood idly still during this process, his gaze seeming to look through Alyx instead of directly at him as these ghastly spirits appeared to be doing the majority of his work for him once again, just like the pink haired one had done during the exam's written portion. His body simply radiating with sheer spiritual power as he stands there, much like the spirits that he both housed and used as his weapons.

”...And so it begins.” Alyxandr spoke aloud, though his tone was more of an out-loud thought than a direct communication with his opponent. He could already see that Falezure was a man of few words, something that Alyx often considered a benefit. He preferred actions to words, as this other implement of death seemed to.
The eye contact was brief, but powerful, the kind of exchange that would shake someone with less mettle than Alyx, he knew. Eyes that did not regard him as an equal, or even a peer, but as prey. Or even something less. Alyx felt his smile grow behind his mask
As they made their way to the location where their duel would be held, the Death Swallower wasted no time, calling forth the spirits of the dead to assault him with barbed chains.
Faster than his small, sickly frame would seem to be able to move, Alyx was in the air, the chains and their hooks crashing into the ground below him, sending dirt and sand spraying into the air, raining down upon the two avatars of death.
This was going just as Alyx had hoped. Soon all here would see the futility of resistance, when the Federation came calling.
As he swirled away from the assault of chains, the fog of death began to billow out of him, blanketing the battlefield, choking anyone caught within.

His posture never even faltering as the fog itself attempted begin eating away at his very life force, an attempt that was halted before it could even begin by the very nature of Faluzure's body. Simply feeling his spiritual strength raise as the damage was absorbed was enough for him to know that this fog was supposed to be quite dangerous. That did not matter to him too much though, as the damage was absorbed, his automatic defenses would begin coming into life. The chains originally having vanished back into the voids they had emerged from, a new one would latch onto Alyx as if it had been there all along. Not harming him like the previous had wished to, but instead simply beginning to chain him down in an attempt to limit his movements and prevent him from dashing or jumping around the next time that Faluzure decided to make an attack. The fog was already thick at this point, that he was having issues correctly locating his opponent, but he knew that it was only a matter of time until his opponent had locked themselves down with their own foolish mistakes. At this point the damage would not even be noticeable either, which made it even more interesting for him to continue this fight. Faluzure emotionlessly stood and awaited his opponent's next move, knowing that it was only a matter of time until they were defeated.

The first volley of chains were easily dodged, though in an apparent lapse of judgement, Alyx neglected to react in time for the fourth, which wrapped around his midsection, not digging into him, but simply holding him near, keeping him close to his opponent. Alyx smiled once more behind the mask. He was beginning to like this Death Swallower, as silent as he was.
Rather than trying to escape the chain, Alyx stood for a moment, the fog kicking up and swirling around the two of them, it’s color subtly shifting to a sickly black-green, blotting the pair from view.
”Let’s give them a show, Brother of Death…”, his harsh whisper of a voice called out from the maelstrom of smoke.
After a few moments, he erupted from the fog, sword in hand, slashing at his opponent with a snarl.

His opponent would come rushing from the ever growing fog with a darkness infused sword in hand and come crashing down directly upon Faluzure's body without hesitation. Faluzure himself would not even shift his gaze from it's absent look at the opponent as the weapon cleaves directly through him from his shoulder and neck area and out the other side towards his waist. His body and form itself barely even appearing to take a hit as he simply adjusts his look to peer at the opponent now standing before him and a rift would open up to his side, a young blond girl reaching out and launching a chain of her own with it's barbed hook aiming to catch hold of Alyx's exposed skin. Faluzure made a short shake of his head as he continued to stand there, his opponent had continued to talk and declare as if they were making some sort of spectacle for all to see, despite having darkened and covered the area in their fog effect that was making it all but impossible for the normal onlooker to even be able to judge a figure within unless they were standing directly beside them. "Out matched.. And.. Out classed.." Faluzure finally says, more under his breath than directly speaking towards his opponent. Time was running out for them, after all.

As Alyx’s blade made contact with his enemy, he knew immediately that he had made a fatal mistake. The damage sent him reeling backwards, the chains that lashed into him the only thing that kept him from landing a goodly distance away. That one attack had taken everything out of him. The fog vanished, as Alyx stood to his feet, shakily at first, but quickly standing firm and upright, no sense of shame in his defeat, his blade resting, tip down, in the sand at his feet. Without all of the trappings of his craft, he looked more like a little boy now than ever, dwarfed by the opponent who had bested him rightfully. His breath game in ragged gasps at first, still heavy from the exertion of combat, a reminder of the little life left in his small frame.
”I know when I have been bested. The Hidden Soul is lucky to have warriors such as yourself among them…” His voice was harsh and light, broken and cracked, but betraying none of the rage that burned within his heart. He did not like losing, but his loss was not the fault of his opponent. This was an opportunity to learn his limits, and exceed them. If he were to lose, he was glad it was to another of the Federation, and another of the Hidden Soul at that.
”We will meet again, Swallower. Of that I am sure…”
With that, Alyxandr turned heel and walked wordlessly out of the Arena, in search of another to vent his frustrations upon.
