Mercedex Marketplace AuctionsWhy are all listings in the marketplace considered auctions? Ex: “auctions ending now” Is it possible to differentiate between “buy now” and “bid price” as a search criteria? Particularly in the “expiring soon” “sort by” drop box. Thank you ALL SO MUCH for your time and hard work! I love and appreciate each and every one of you... and I have some questions about the marketplace... Lanzer (Admin Lead): "Good point. Marketplace was written to be an auction only site at the beginning. We will add the listing separator and filter on the next update." Mercedex Oh, you're a gaia send Lanzer, thank you and your team from my heart emotion_kirakira That is super interesting to hear it was intended to be an auction only site in the beginning... is there somewhere I can learn this history? I don't know anyone who knows this info. Lanzer (Admin Lead): "When I first hired Darknrgy I asked him to "make an Ebay for Gaia", and back in 2003 Ebay had no "buy it now" feature. Consequently Gaia added the buy now feature after Ebay introduced theirs. Hope I'm remembering this correctly."

Sensei Norisu Chyaku [Towns 3] Hello, how's the progress of Towns 3? Will there be custom made cars like in OG Rally? Or are they just static objects? Lanzer (Admin Lead): "Rally 3's cars are decorations as we have not re-created car customization. The older cars are all 2D images created from 3D renders, but it will take substantial effort to convert everything to a truly 3D system, so that side of things are not on the roster. We still have a lot to do for the core system before we can look into possibly having cars."

kloob FeaturesLeaving to see some friends right after I post this, so I likely won't see a response till after I get home. But, I just wanted to see if it would be possible to revive the old Gaia Lottery that ran from 2009-2012. I know it was removed due to low usage, but I think we are at a point where it could become a popular feature once more, and also act as a gold sink - i.e. 5% of gold/platinum collected is removed from the final prize pool and the economy. Not sure if that feature was also written in flash, fingers crossed it wasn't. Not sure if you guys even have the code for it anymore either way. But just a suggestion. Thanks! Lanzer (Admin Lead): "Maybe as an event, we can have something something similar. I'll have a look at the older code to see if something we can bring back or does it require a re-write."

Mercedex Marketplace AuctionsWhy does the “Buy Now” auctions in the marketplace have a url that times out and give general errors, while the “Bid Price” auctions do not. Ex: "add to wishlist" link leads to error, Dressup breaks when link dies, general error "please do not refresh pages", and general error "url malformed" Is it possible to fix it so the auctions “buy now” page can keep it’s token for the same length of time as the “bid price” page? Lanzer (Admin Lead): "There might be some error checking going on that disallow someone to post a link in the forum that makes someone else buy an item in the marketplace. Those security checks usually shows an error after a link had been created for a certain length of time. Though I have to confirm if that is what's happening, and see if there is a better way of handling this without causing timeout errors."

It would be nice to get more decade specific/culturally diverse items. Lanzer (Admin Lead): "The team working on Towns 3 will continue expanding features within Towns, as there are still a lot more that we wish to do. That team's speciality is in Unity, so they're focus will be strictly on games. "

Link GamesLooking for a Towns 1, Rally 1 and older games update. Potential date for re-release of content. Asked during a number of "Ask the Staff" events, got inaccurate answers. Would prefer an answer more definite and/or honest. Lanzer (Admin Lead): "Currently we're busy with the release of Towns/Rally 3, and we're looking for some additional developers to convert cards and slots, while there are a lot of older flash games that will need a bit of wait before we can get to converting any of them. As a team we had decided to place more time and effort on newer experiences such as the Gaia Adventures platform than on the older games, as we think that many of them had run their course. I haven't gotten around to it, but porting a number of those games into Adobe Air platform as downloadable games is an option too."

Mercedexv Marketplace AuctionsWhy is it so much faster to get through the Bid Now UI than it is through the Buy Now UI? Is it possible to implement a “quick buy” similar to the “quick reply” or “quick quote” functions in the forums? Lanzer (Admin Lead): "Sorry can you elaborate on what you mean by faster? Do you mean the number of clicks and interaction, or are you referring to the page load times? We will add quick buy as a feature request for a future update."
