Personality: Torsten's whole focus goes into his job when he is working, nose to the grindstone. With the demands of his training and job, he tends to over-do his down time; maybe drinking a little too much or staying out too late at gatherings. He’s also not one to back down from a fight. While training is helping his self-control, it’s best to have a fellow guard to hold him back in order to keep his cool when a situation gets riled up. Though not the most trusting of fellows, he is always quite friendly until given reason otherwise.

Starting History:
Torsten was born the third child into a wealthy family of royal and city guards. All men in his family followed the line, as did most of the women; such has it been for countless generations. His parents are no exception, and he is eager to follow in their footsteps along with his two older brothers. There are rumors circulating through the barracks that his father is involved in some underhanded trading of manor property, and Torsten is eager to uphold his family’s honor.

“Your probationary period is completed. Congratulations, guardsman.”
Torsten had waited so long to hear those words! He couldn’t help the cocky confidence in his step as he walked to the tavern to celebrate with his mates. His brothers were walking ahead of him and his father was at his side, all eager to join in the festivities for the youngest member of the family. He was busy chatting away about what plans the captain had for him when he felt a firm hand on his arm. He slowed down and looked over at his father with curiosity. “What’s up, dad?”
Bandash had a solemn expression on his face as he slowed his son down. Bandash rarely wore any expression other than solemn, but even this felt a little different. “Listen. Now that you’re fully in the ranks, they’re going to be watching you even more closely. Don’t give them any reason to doubt your loyalty to Oba and the guards.”
Torsten cocked his brow. “What? Who’re ‘they’ and why would they-” he paused and took a deep breath. “Oh. Because of you.” He rolled his eyes and shook his head. “Dad, I know them rumors are a pile of quhar crap. No way are you stealin’ from anybody, much less the people you swore to protect.” He bared his teeth slightly and growled. “I don’t know who started that crap, but I’m gonna figure it out and stop it. Even if I have to wait until I’m brigadier!”
Bandash sighed heavily. “You’ll do no such thing. You will simply do your best and stay in line, alright? We don’t need anyone seeing you go rogue and get the wrong idea.” He raised his hand to pat the back of his son’s neck. “I love you, boy. You and your brothers make me so proud…”
Torsten snorted and pushed the hand away. “Come on, old man. You’re makin’ me blush.” He made no promises though. Someone was trying to smear his family name and he was going to find out who! He came from an honorable line of guardsmen, and he was going to be no different.
